It must have been easy for Dell to convert the XPS 15 into a workstation, such was its initial qualities. The Precision 15 5000 is solidly-built, surprisingly compact and lightweight for its size and comes with a fantastic display. We suspect that, like the XPS 15, the Precision 15 5000 will only seriously suffer in the department of battery life due to the power-sucking 4K screen. Still, for business users looking for a capable laptop that ships with the familiar surroundings of Windows 7, the Precision 5510 should rank highly.

Finally, what are my conclusions about the Dell Precision 5510 laptop? My fingers quickly adapted to the keyboard and the 5510 proved to be a better traveling companion compared to the Latitude E5570 thanks to the smaller overall size and weight while not losing any display size. The travel functionality is further improved by the fact the high capacity battery provides at least 10 hours of light use.

Modell: Kompakt und leistungsstark: Das Dell Precision 5510 ist eine mobile Workstation im Ultrabook-Format. Das Design ist einfach jedoch elegant mit professionellem Aussehen und solider Verarbeitung. Das Dell Precision 5510 ist dunkelgrau mit einem Bildschirmdeckel in metallischem, dunklem silber und Dell-Logo in der Mitte. Es gibt zwei Bildschirmoptionen: ein 15,6 Zoll großes, entspiegeltes UltraSharp FHD IPS-Panel und einen ähnlich großen PremierColor UHD IGZO Touchscreen. Letzterer verfügt über eine Premium-Panel-Garantie, die mit 100 Prozent Abdeckung des Adobe-Farbraums für präzise Farben sorgt. Die Audioqualität ist dank des hochwertigen, von MaxxAudio Pro abgestimmten Stereo-Setups beeindruckend.

Das Dell Precision 5510 ist in puncto Hardware und Betriebssystem voll konfigurierbar. Die Optionen reichen von Windows 7 bis Ubuntu Linux 14.04 SP1. Die Top-Konfiguration umfasst einen Intel Xeon e3-1505M v5 Quad-Core-Prozessor mit einer Taktrate von 2,8 GHz, 32 GB DDR4 non-ECC RAM, eine NVIDIA Quadro M100M GPU mit 2 GB GDDR5 VRAM und eine 1 TB SSD für maximale Übertragungsraten. Weiters bietet das Dell Precision 5510 einen Thunderbolt-3-Port, zwei USB-3.0-Ports, einen HDMI-Ausgang und einen Kartenleser. Mit einem Gesamtgewicht von 1,78 kg lässt sich das Dell Precision 5510 einfach transportieren.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
