If you’re primarily looking for a tablet with an attached keyboard that you don’t have to remember to charge, this could be the device for you, especially if you find it on sale. If you think you’ll only occasionally use your device’s touchscreen, you might like to save a couple of hundred dollars with the MSI Summit 13 Evo Flip, which also boasts 180-degree flexibility, stylus compatibility, and an Intel i7 processor. You could even enjoy a Microsoft Surface Pro 9, which offers similar specs at about the same price (or cheaper) and can be used with a detachable Bluetooth keyboard. If you’re not insistent on having a touchscreen, you can find a much better laptop in Apple’s 2020 MacBook Air M1, which we’ve boldly (but confidently) referred to as “the best laptop you can buy.” If you’re not into the Apple ecosystem, the older Acer Swift X packs a lot of speed into a comfortable body with 9+ hour battery life (and you even get an Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti). While a redeeming factor can be found in the reasonable $700 price tag, I would much rather opt for a laptop with better performance specs in lieu of the clunky 2-in-1 capabilities offered by the Dell Inspiron 14. As a master of none, the Inspiron 14 fails to satisfy any area of productivity, gaming, or media enjoyment. If the 2-in-1 functionality is non-negotiable, and you can find it on sale, the Inspiron 14 may be a worthwhile purchase. Otherwise, I would recommend steering clear and spending your money elsewhere. Dell's Inspiron 14 2-in-1 tries to do too many things at once. In its efforts, it falls short of establishing itself as a satisfactory productivity machine, gaming laptop, or 2-in-1 tablet. It has a few redeeming qualities, like a springy keyboard and a sleek design, but they can't save the Inspiron 14 from being spread too thin.

Frankly, we considered giving the Inspiron 14 2-in-1 three-and-a-half stars for its low price, competitive performance, and long battery life. Unfortunately, working with a screen that can't deliver at least 300 nits of brightness is simply no fun to the point of detrimental. Still, if you're looking for a convertible laptop on a tight budget, it's worth keeping an eye on Dell's sales and discounts. That Lavender Blue model is fairly tempting.

Dell: Dell ist ein 1984 gegründeter US-amerikanischer Hersteller (Sitz Texas) von Computer-Hardware und gehört zu den grössten internationalen Herstellern sowohl in Bezug auf Marktanteile als auch hinsichtlich Notebook-Modellen. Die Produktpalette umfasst unter anderem Desktops, Notebooks, Speichersysteme, Monitore, Server, Drucker, Unterhaltungselektronik und Peripheriegeräte. Dell bietet Laptops an, die ich für verschiedene Einsatzbereiche eignen, z. B. Business-Laptops, Gaming-Laptops, Ultra-Portables und Workstations. Die Business-Notebooks von Dell aus den Latitude- und Precision-Serien sind eine Option für professionelle Anwender und Unternehmen.

2023 hatte Dell einen ungefähren Marktanteil von 17% am weltweiten PC-Absatz und war damit die Nummer 3 nach Lenovo und HP.

Für Gaming-Enthusiasten ist die Marke Alienware von Dell für Gaming-Notebooks vorgesehen.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.

Intel UHD Graphics 620: Integrierte Grafikkarte (GT2-Ausbau, 24 EUs), welche in einigen Kaby-Lake-CPUs (Refresh, ULV-Modelle, 15 Watt TDP) verbaut wird. Technisch identisch zur HD Graphics 620 in den Kaby-Lake Modellen aus 2016.

Intel Iris Xe G7 96EUs: Integrierte Grafikkarte (in Tiger-Lake G7 SoCs) der Gen. 12 Architektur mit 96 EUs.

AMD Vega 7: Integrierte Grafikkarte in the Ryzen APUs basierend auf der Vega Architektur mit 7 CUs (= 448 Shader) und einer Taktrate von bis zu 1600 MHz.

Diese Grafikkarten sollten alle modernen Spiele flüssig darstellen können. Anspruchsvolle Spiele müssen jedoch in mittlerer Detailstufe gespielt werden. Ältere und weniger anspruchsvolle Spiele wie die Sims Serie können auch in hohen Detailsstufen flüssig dargestellt werden.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 4GB Laptop GPU: Mobile Gaming-Grafikkarte die wahrscheinlich auf den GA107 Chip basiert. Bietet 2048 GPU Kerne und ist in verschiedenen TGP Varianten von 35 - 80 Watt erhältlich. Je nach Variante kann die Leistung deutlich variieren, da auch die Taktraten unterschiedlich ausfallen. Ältere Version mit 4 GB VRAM.

Intel Kaby Lake Refresh:

i3-8130U: Auf der Kaby-Lake-Architektur basierender ULV-SoC (System-on-a-Chip) für schlanke Notebooks und Ultrabooks. Integriert unter anderem zwei CPU-Kerne mit 2,2 - 3,4 GHz und HyperThreading sowie eine Grafikeinheit und wird in 14-Nanometer-Technik (14nm+?) gefertigt.

Intel Tiger Lake:

i7-11800H: Auf der Tiger-Lake-Architektur basierender SoC (System-on-a-Chip) für große Gaming Notebooks und mobile Workstations. Integriert unter anderem acht CPU-Kerne mit 2,3 - 4.6 GHz und HyperThreading sowie eine UHD Graphics Grafikeinheit (350 - 1450 MHz) und wird in 10-Nanometer-Technik gefertigt (10nm SuperFin). 

Intel Alder Lake-M:

i7-1255U: Auf der Alder-Lake-Architektur basierender High-End Mobilprozessor. Bietet 2 Performance-Kerne und 8 Effizienzkerne und kann 12 Threads gleichzeitig bearbeiten. Der maximale Turbo-Takt der P-Kerne beträgt 4,7 GHz.

AMD Cezanne (Zen 3, Ryzen 5000):

R5 7530U: Mobile APU mit sechs Zen 3 basierten Kernen welche mit 2 bis 4,5 GHz takten. Integriert eine Vega Grafikkarte mit 7 CUs und maximal 1800 MHz. Ähnlich zum Ryzen 5 5625U, jedoch mit weniger Basistakt und höherem Boost (+200 MHz).

16.00: Dieser Bereich für Displayformate war und ist eine Seltenheit. Es ist größer als der allgemeine Standard von 15 Zoll, aber noch nicht im Bereich der großen Workstations. Man hat üblicherweise höhere Bildschirmauflösungen zur Verfügung, darunter leidet aber auch die Portabilität.
