The Dell Inspiron 13z's strengths are also its curse, as it is the jack of all trades master of none. Besides its comfortable keyboard and customizable touchpad there is no real selling point here, but there are also no glaring flaws excluding its rage inducing port covers.

The Dell Inspiron 13z is an affordable and able ultraportable, but some users will be irritated by the port covers that get in the way more often than not. The hardware puts it alongside some fine ultrabooks and ultraportables, but unlike the Editors' Choice Toshiba Portege R835-P88, which also offers extras like WiDi and an optical drive, the Inspiron 13z falls just a bit short of expectations.

The Inspiron 13z is an interesting mix of ultrabook technologies with traditional laptop design. It uses many of the same parts that an ultrabook might feature but suffers from its storage such that it is slower than most ultrabooks in the same price range. In addition to this, it is certainly heavier than many ultrabooks. What it does offer is some compelling battery life in a non-ultrabook and more USB 3.0 peripheral ports which is hampered by their annoying covers.

While it's not as fast or as sleek as competing Ultrabooks, the $699 Dell Inspiron 13z delivers fairly good performance, loud audio, an accurate touchpad and a comfortable typing experience in an attractive, affordable package. If speed is your priority, you may be better off with either the Sony VAIO T13 ($799) or Lenovo IdeaPad U310 ($799), both of which offer an SSD cache.

Intel HD Graphics 4000: In Ivy Bridge Prozessoren (3. Generation Core) integrierte Grafikkarte in höchster Ausbaustufe. Je nach Prozessor (ULV bis Desktop Quad-Core) unterschiedlich getaktet.

Einige nicht anspruchsvolle aktuelle Spiele können mit geringen Details noch flüssig gespielt werden. Für Office und Video natürlich ausreichende Leistungsreserven.
