Position a less-demanding game like Final Fantasy XIV in a borderless window above and keep your work Teams app open below for the ultimate slacking-off machine by all means, and it will make short work of many games that don't rely on ray-tracing at 1080p, though in anything more demanding than Stardew Valley you may have to work your way down the visual settings tree to keep frame rates up. Taken in comparison with the cheaper HP Omen Transcend 14 we reviewed recently, and you're talking about a device that comes with both a lovely 14-inch OLED screen, and a Meteor Lake chip paired with a discrete RTX 4060. Though obviously it only has one screen and a little less of the 'what the hell's that?!' wow factor of the Asus machine. But the Zenbook Duo doesn't have a discrete GPU and never will, so while I adore this machine for its willingness to push past the laptop's stodgy design rut and do something different without going full Steam Deck, this is not the PC to buy if you want that Duo bit to mean a great office and great gaming machine.

The ASUS Zenbook DUO is a bold and innovative take on the modern laptop. Its dual-screen design, detachable keyboard, and powerful internals make it a versatile tool for a wide range of users, particularly creatives and multitaskers. The device’s strengths lie in its excellent display quality, innovative design, strong performance, and the flexibility offered by its unique form factor.

There’s a lot to like about the latest Asus Zenbook Duo. Its incredible design, mixed with two outstanding displays, makes it a solid bet for those looking for a premium laptop. Combine that with an Intel Core Ultra 9 CPU, a 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSD, plus 32GB of DDR5 at some seriously top-tier speeds, and the Duo quickly feels like a no-nonsense productivity machine.

The Asus Zenbook Duo is a very good Windows laptop with some neat tricks up its sleeve. When you get something like the Zenbook Duo in your hands, you just can’t stop yourself from admiring how unique the product is. The Zenbook Duo is my favorite Windows laptop yet because it just puts a smile on my face whenever I’m using it. You have multiple displays at your disposal whenever you need them, you have very good performance to complete your work without any issues, and the battery life is excellent as well. Overall, the Zenbook Duo is the laptop to get if you love multitasking, you watch a ton of content, or you just want to flex on your MacBook friends! Asus Zenbook Duo is the perfect laptop for people who love to multitask and need something portable enough to carry around.

The Asus ZenBook Duo (2024) is a great laptop and interested consumers should consider buying it. The dual-screen setup in a compact laptop with a detachable keyboard is just perfect. I call it a masterpiece because it is one of its kind and Asus has made it possible without any major flaws. The experience is smooth, which is complemented by a super fast performance. The display quality is great and the battery life is exceptional. The only downside is lack of a dedicated graphics card for smoother heavy gaming or video editing. For this, one can check out the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 (2024) and those who want a compact dual-screen laptop for multi-tasking should definitely go for the ZenBook Duo (2024).

At R42 999 (RRP) is not your run of the mill laptop, and as expected, has a price tag to match. Ultimately, the choice to pick up this laptop comes down to one question – how effectively can you make use of the second display. If it’s simply to have a number of windows open at once, you may be doing it a disservice. Instead, the ZenBook Duo (2024) is the type of laptop that yearns to be used to its fullest capacity. This means not only having multiple windows open, but running multiple applications at once too, as well as giving the stylus a spin for some design work or annotating too. If you want this laptop to simply be a workhorse, it can certainly do that too, but again, there is so much more to the ZenBook Duo than that. If you’re curious and can make the most of the 28 combined inches or screen real estate, as well as flexibility and portability of this unique laptop, it is well worth considering.

My first impression of the ZenBook Duo was that of an unconventional notebook. However, after using it for a couple of days, my perception of this dual-screen notebook is a lot different. Typically, when I review a laptop, it boils down to how much you require top-spec performance and battery life. But that’s not how I see a device like the ZenBook Duo. This laptop is all about how you maximise productivity with two screens. It’s the form factor that allows you to do more, and that’s where I think Asus has nailed it. That being said, if you are considering the ZenBook Duo, appreciate its dual OLED screens, excellent keyboard, and decent performance as well.

I liked the concept of a laptop with two screens. In many situations, two monitors are necessary for high productivity, and this solution works much better than, for example, the well-known ASUS Zephyrus Duo option with the additional ScreenPad Plus screen. In terms of comfort, the ASUS Zenbook Duo (2024) UX8406 resembles a desktop computer but in a much more compact form. However, a laptop is not just for desk work. The ASUS device won’t be as convenient as a regular ultrabook when using it, for example, while sitting on the couch. Despite the manufacturer using a truly minimalist and portable design, walks with this laptop between business meetings are also not the most pleasant—you can clearly feel the slightly greater weight and thickness of the Zenbook Duo. These are undoubtedly the most significant caveats about this device. Technically, I have no serious complaints.

In fact, it confirms to me that Asus has a bit of a wonder on its hands with the Asus Zenbook Duo. Not only is this the best realisation I have yet come across of the dual-screen laptop concept, it’s also a usable, practical laptop, period. It’s well-made and usable. The two screens serve a genuine purpose – you’ll be more productive and comfortable at your desk – battery life is decent and all-round performance is impressive. Best of all, it’s not as hideously expensive as you might expect it to be, undercutting the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i on price for the cheapest model and laptops like the MacBook Air 15, spec for spec. The best recommendation I can give it is that I would put it right at the top of my shortlist if I had this much to spend on a laptop. If offers something genuinely different at a reasonable price, and if this is the future of mobile working, I’m all in.

I was amazed how quickly the Zenbook Duo OLED transformed my work habits. Suddenly I wasn’t tied to the desk where my monitor lives; I could move around the house, sit outside, or travel while still enjoying dual-screen productivity. It makes the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED look like a rough draft, and puts other twin-display laptops in the shade. But it’s not just a gimmick, either; if you don’t need a second screen, this behaves just like a traditional machine. There’s no escaping this is an expensive machine, and one I would argue has too powerful a processor for its own good. A Core Ultra 7 would be just as capable for daily duties, though there doesn’t seem to be a variant with both that chip and the higher resolution displays. Not everyone needs a second screen, meaning this is still a niche model – but with very respectable battery life, software tweaks that take full advantage of the form factor, and ample connectivity, this has to be the best laptop of its type.

What if your laptop had two screens? It’s a tantalizing idea (just imagine all the browser tabs you could open!) but, until recently, it felt more like a dream than a useful idea. The 2024 Asus Zenbook Duo (available at Best Buy for $1,699.99) turns that dream into a real computer you can buy at a reasonable price. It’s not perfect and doesn't offer the best performance per dollar, but the Duo successfully delivers on the dual-screen promise.

But as I said, there’s room for improvement. More probably could be done to reduce the space and gap when used in Desktop Mode, and the keyboard could really use some sort of elevation when it’s detached from the notebook. And while we are it, it’s a good idea to have one more USB-C port. Two is a little stingy considering you’ll need to set one aside for power/charging. However, these are just minor misgivings and not dealbreakers. The biggest stumbling block is its price. With prices starting at S$2,999, it’s an expensive notebook; but the price is mostly justified considering it has two high-quality OLED displays and the amount of thought and engineering that went into it. The 2024 Asus Zenbook Duo is a first-class alternative to the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i that last year inspired us to predict the long-term demise of portable monitors as laptop accessories. It has more ports, a lower price, and a newer CPU with Intel's AI enhancements. No, the tablet-cover-style Bluetooth keyboard doesn't feel as snappy as an actual laptop keyboard, but it's not much of a trade-off for the added versatility and working area of dual displays. The Duo decisively wins Editors' Choice honors for dual-screen laptops. If you're focused on maximizing productivity while commuting or traveling for work—and enjoying a high-end mobile movie player when it's time to log off—then definitely consider the Asus Zenbook Duo.

OK, so the Zenbook Duo delivers on the promises of dual-screen laptops. But one question I get a lot is who are devices like this actually for? The most obvious application is for people who carry a portable monitor around while traveling. But more generally, this thing is aimed at anyone who appreciates multiple monitors and wants a system that can recreate that experience in a more travel-friendly way, which is something the Zenbook Duo does with aplomb. The best part though is that it doesn’t make major sacrifices to do so, because thanks to its detachable keyboard, it can function just like any other clamshell when space is tight (like on an airplane). When you have room to spread out, it transforms into a portable workstation with plenty of screen space for a project up top and bonus real estate for Slack, email, video calls or anything else you might need down below.

The pen has a comfortable grip and provides good control with nice pressure sensitivity and tilt, as long as you use the right drawing program to exploit it, it becomes really professional. You also get a selection of different pen tips that provide different amounts of paper feel to use. The pen needs to be charged via USB-C before pairing with Bluetooth. Unlike the smooth keyboard, which charges and communicates with surface contact when it is in place. With top quality screens, 1800p resolution, full OLED contrast and dynamics, and modes for SRGB, this is an excellent computer for all kinds of media creation. Setting up the Zenbook Duo and editing video on dual screens is something I could quickly become addicted to… if I can afford it. The computer costs $1,499.99. It’s not exactly a budget choice, but it’s perfectly reasonable for what you get and well worth the investment if you’re an ambitious creator who doesn’t feel the need to optimize weight.

Among all the laptop manufacturers, only ASUS is one of the few striving to set the bar higher when it comes to dual displays, and the Zenbook Duo 2024 is a testament to that. To be honest, when I showed this to some of my friends in the creative industry during the review period, they were actually surprised by the price for what it offers. Take note, two of them are actually owners of the ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo. That’s why they were surprised by the features it offers. I even asked them before showing this laptop what improvements they wished for in their existing machines. They told me that they hoped it would be lighter, have a larger second display, better battery life, better portability, and be more affordable. Even from experience, I enjoyed the luxury of having more screen real estate.

The Asus Zenbook Duo strives to fulfill a specific purpose and does that exceptionally well. Anyone who needs a new machine with a satisfying keyboard that can seamlessly be swapped into a dual-screen setup for artistic projects will not be disappointed. Alongside exceptionally high performance metrics and solid battery life within a surprisingly affordable package, it is a great pick for artists and creators. But it’s far from perfect, with its least offensive aspects being its underwhelming audio and difficult-to-remove magnetic keyboard. What really sets this laptop back is an OLED display that doesn’t meet our expectations in color, even when compared to non-OLED displays. If you’re on the lookout for a great laptop and can do without the dual-displays, the MSI Prestige AI Evo 16 provides phenomenal performance at a slightly lower cost. Otherwise, we recommend the Zenbook Duo for anyone who loves the appeal of its dual-screen configuration.

Overall, the ASUS Zenbook Duo UX8406 is a fantastic laptop, honestly. It might sound ridiculous to have a dual-screen laptop, but it is actually functional. The ScreenXpert utility really makes it usable and I prefer this setup over a portable external monitor. It’s just more compact.

But it’s also important to set aside some downtime amid the hustle, and the Zenbook Duo certainly helps in that regard. ASUS’ latest features 3K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 100 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 gamut, so visuals are sharp, smooth, and colour-accurate. There’s just one question: how does the hardware prowess fare in gaming? Representing the best of dual-monitor laptops, the ASUS Zenbook Duo packs decent hardware to handle light gaming and heavy-duty productivity.

Neither the new Asus Zenbook Duo nor the Lenovo Yoga Book are what you could call cheap, but they both offer compelling visions of what a two-screen laptop can be. Of course, whether or not you want a two-screen laptop depends on your likely usage. If, for example, you need to run a CMS window on one screen and look at your notes on another like I often do, then the benefit is self-evident. Which is the best? Both are high-quality items with excellent screens. The Asus is the more potent by some margin; it has larger screens, a better keyboard, and a better selection of ports, allowing you to use it as a fully-fledged laptop. The Lenovo is smaller, has a more versatile design, and has a better sound system. If you want a dual-screen laptop primarily more for work than play, then the Asus is the one to go for, but if media consumption is your primary requirement, then the smaller, more tablet-like Lenovo just edges it. Since our primary interest here is the work side of things, we're giving the win and five stars to the new Asus.

The Asus Zenbook Duo is definitely worth it. It's priced at less than $2,000, delivering a rich, multi-screen experience in a market filled with boring single-screen laptops for twice the price. I've said it once and I'll say it again: single-display laptops are now cancelled. After working with the Zenbook Duo, I'm spoiled. The Zenbook Duo is an extremely well-built dual-screen laptop with some key advantages. It’s a better dual-screen clamshell laptop than the competitors and a great clamshell laptop in general. It’s also the best at stacking its dual displays in a vertical orientation, thanks to a simple, yet effective built-in kickstand. But it’s not as good in desktop mode. At the same time, the low-end model’s performance is superior to those we’ve tested, with surprisingly good battery life. The high-end configuration, on the other hand, demonstrated inconsistent performance and much worse battery life. So, I can strongly recommend the entry-level model (which is also the best value), with the only caveat being that the OLED displays aren’t quite as sharp. The high-end model, while enjoying higher-resolution displays, doesn’t offer much else to justify its higher price.

I think the product category in general has a lots of room for improvement, so I’m excited to see where future dual-screen laptops go. But of the ones I’ve tried so far, the Zenbook Duo hits the right balance of practicality and usability that makes the whole package feel less gimmicky and more like a legitimate productivity tool. Ultimately, the Zenbook Duo manages to be a good laptop and a good dual-screen desktop device in one package. It’s made my in-office days more bearable by allowing me to work on the train like I have a normal laptop, and then when I get to the office I can unfold it into a two-screen productivity powerhouse before packing it back into a laptop mode to head home.

The Zenbook DUO (2024) is a compact laptop that can be used both in the classic single-screen mode and transformed into a dual-screen computer for more efficient multitasking. This makes the model very versatile, but most importantly, it has no significant drawbacks that are common in experimental devices. This once again proves that Zenbook DUO (2024) is not some kind of concept from the exhibition, but a completely working solution. Of course, it has room for improvement, as with any first-generation model, but the disadvantages are not significant. The only one is the rather high price, which stems from the manufacturer's use of two OLED screens and a top-of-the-line platform for its class.

The lure of the Asus Zenbook Duo (2024) lies almost completely in its dynamic duo of displays. To some it’s going to be a massive selling point, transforming a seemingly ordinary 14-inch laptop into a multi-tasking powerhouse. To others, it’s going to seem irrelevant, and closer to a cool but unnecessary gimmick than a serious feature. If you’re in the latter camp there are better and often cheaper options out there. The Acer Swift Go 14 gives you slightly more performance at a lower price tag. Its stablemate, the Swift X 14, is also less expensive and adds a dedicated GPU. The LG Gram 17 gives you excellent performance and an impressive 17-inch screen, while Apple’s MacBook Air 15 is also a real contender for your cash. But none of these can beat the appeal of having two big screens to play with. And while other dual-screen laptops exist such as the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i, they cost a lot more money.

The ASUS Zenbook DUO (UX8406) impresses with its excellent performance, a remarkable feat for a dual-screen device. Its cooling system, equipped with two fans and a pair of heat pipes, effectively handles high CPU clocks under short to medium loads. Although the processor faces challenges in maintaining its official base P-core clock during prolonged stress tests, it manages to deliver decent frequencies. Fortunately, chip temperatures remain controlled, and noise levels are minimal. The two fans aren’t noisy even in “Performance mode”. Still, the “Whisper mode” is the way to go for daily tasks – the fans are quiet and the overall performance is also good. Expectedly, the price of the gadget is high and the only downside of the two panels is the PWM usage but the “Flicker-Free Dimming” function in the MyASUS app solves this issue.

When one screen simply won’t do, the latest iteration of the Asus Zenbook Duo is an incredibly well-designed laptop. Its brilliant dual OLED screens shine but it’s the overall design quality that coalesces the concept into a device with endless utility. The built-in kickstand makes it easy to make full use of both displays, while the included Bluetooth keyboard solidifies the experience. Even though the double-display design is the star of the show, the 2024 Zenbook Duo happens to be a strong showcase for the Intel Core Ultra processors. Despite no discrete graphics card, this versatile laptop deftly tackles creative apps and gaming alike. Your only real cause for pause is a $3,999 asking price. It’s an undeniably expensive laptop, albeit justified by the two-screen setup. You’d pay a similar price for a high-end laptop equipped with a top-of-the-line processor once an external monitor or portable display entered the equation.

ASUS pulled the wraps off their latest model in the Zenbook Duo series at CES 2024, and at first glance, I’m impressed by how sleek-looking the dual-screen notebook is, with a pair of 14-inch displays complemented by a built-in kickstand. To be sure, this isn't ASUS' first rodeo in the dual-screen space, as they've been tinkering with this concept across various models over the past years, including the 2022 gaming-focused ROG Zephyrus Duo 16. What sets the new Zenbook Duo apart is the upsizing of the secondary display to mirror the main screen in size, which is a notable shift from previous iterations’ narrower auxiliary screens, and draws inspiration from the Zenbook Fold series (read our Zenbook Fold 17 OLED review here), which featured a single, large foldable screen.

CES 2024 is coming to a close, but we couldn’t ignore some of the most exciting laptops we saw at the event. The ASUS Zenbook Duo (2024) and Zephyrus G14 offer very enticing propositions to people who want to take their computing to the next level. ASUS has something for you whether you’re a multi-tasking beast or a hardcore gamer.

As a natural skeptic about literally everything, I’ve always been a little jaded towards the idea of a dual-screen laptop or other prototypical ideas. But with the refinements Asus has made to the formula with its Zenbook Duo, I think we’re really onto something here. Some of my concerns persist — that second screen could impact the longevity of that 75Wh battery quite significantly, and Windows 11 is still a little awkward at times when reacting to this orientation-agnostic hardware, regardless of the software tweaks Asus has made. But those concerns will be answered with more hands-on time for a proper review. In the meantime though, I have no hesitation in saying that this is definitely one of the most exciting laptops coming out of CES this year.

Unboxing ASUS' Zenbook Duo (2024) 14 inch laptop, with Intel Core Ultra performance for gaming and creative tasks and a slick dual screen design. If you're a creator or multi-tasker, you'll love the ASUS Zenbook Duo's gorgeous screens and powerful Meteor Lake brains. Here's a tour of the best features and check out my laptop reviews here on Tech Spurt. This 14-inch notebook is certainly unique, offering a double screen which is great for video editing as well as gaming. The OLED panels are bright, colourful and boast excellent contrast, while the ASUS Zenbook Duo's Harmon Kardon speakers are ridiculously powerful. As you'll see from the benchmarking and my real world game time, this compact laptop is great for creators as well as entertainment. The Intel Core Ultra platform can smash through any kind of tasks, with plenty of power to spare. The Zenbook Duo 14 2024 is a great one to share on the move as well.

The Zenbook DUO takes the normal formula of a dual screen laptop and makes the format not only exciting but also super useful. Its so adaptable and well focused towards mobile productivity that it ends up making all other Windows laptops look a bit....boring.

Between the Zenbook 17 Fold, Project Precog and previous Zenbook Duo machines, it feels like ASUS has been working towards building a true dual-screen laptop for ages. And now at CES 2024, that time has come with the arrival of the simply named Zenbook Duo. Similar to Lenovo’s Yoga Book 9i, the Zenbook Duo features two separate screens and a detachable Bluetooth keyboard that can be stashed inside the system for traveling. The difference is that ASUS’ OLED panels look even better, as they are slightly larger at 14 inches, while also offering a 3K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and stylus support. Plus, with a starting price of $1,500, it costs $500 less than the Yoga Book and not that much more than your average high-end ultraportable.

Two displays, one laptop — that's what the Zenbook DUO line has always been about. At CES 2024, ASUS announced its latest iteration and it's unlike any other laptop we've seen before. Now with two equally stunning 14-inch OLED displays, a built-in kickstand, detachable keyboard, and so much more.

I expect this to start at around 1800 EUR in this part of the world. US pricing is set at from $1499 MSRP, UK pricing at £1,699.99. This should be available soon towards the end of January 2024. Anyway, let me spend more time with this design and sum-up my thoughts in a proper review and figure out the aspects that are still unknown for now, such as the performance of this series, its thermal and acoustic behavior with regular use and sustained loads, and what to expect in terms of battery life. Once those are clearer to me, I’ll come back with a better informed conclusion on this Duo. In the meantime, I’d like to hear your thoughts on this 2024 Asus ZenBook Dup UX8406 series, so get in touch down below in the comments section.

The Asus Zenbook Duo (2024) looks to be one of the most promising dual-screen laptops yet, with a more polished package than its rivals thanks to the full-size keyboard, built-in stand and cutting-edge chip. And with a relatively affordable price, this could well be the laptop to kick off the dual-screen craze.

I only had a short demo of the Zenbook Duo OLED’s abilities, but I was already imagining how it would transform my work habits. It makes the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED look like a rough draft, and has the software tweaks that should hopefully take advantage of the form factor. There’s no escaping this will be an expensive machine, and there are lots of questions still to answer. How powerful will the Intel Ultra 9 CPU be? Can the battery last a day of work while powering two 3K displays? Is the software in place to properly make the most of dual-screen working? With mere months until the laptop goes on sale, I happily won’t be waiting long to find out.
