The Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED isn’t perfect. Its 720p webcam is from a bygone era and its 9-hour battery life is short in comparison to the best MacBooks. That said, its strengths are substantial. The sharp OLED display is wonderful for watching videos, and it has one of the best laptop keyboards I’ve tested. I also love the minimalist design and zippy performance. The LED number pad is also a nice touch. Combine all this with the fact it’s $1,199 at its most expensive, and this device becomes all the more attractive. While the Zenbook 14 Flip OLED is now my favorite 2-in-1, the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 and Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 8 are solid alternatives. Both feature the same 13th Gen Intel Core CPU, convertible design and OLED displays. At $1,449, Samsung’s notebook is pricier but could be worth it if you’re invested in the Samsung ecosystem. Lenovo’s $1,049 laptop is a good choice if you want slightly better battery life and performance. Overall, the Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED provides excellent value for what it offers.

It is no exaggeration to say that the ASUS Zenbook 14 Flip OLED (UP3404) is one of the best convertible laptops that we have tested up to date. The build quality is exceptional, the base and the lid are made of metal, and there is a glass protection for the screen. The chassis is built like a tank and the device feels sturdy while using it in a tent or tablet mode. The keyboard has a backlight, it’s comfortable for typing, and it’s quiet too. The large touchpad has a smooth surface that allows great accuracy. The pad can be turned into an ASUS NumberPad 2.0 which is useful for calculations. The comfort under load is good. The single fan can be heard mostly when the CPU is pounded with a serious load. The fan is turned off when the processor temperature is below 50°C. The laptop doesn’t have a lot of shortcomings but we can mention the upgradability options that were almost non-existent which is standard for most compact transformers.

The Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED is an exceptional option for business professionals wanting an attractive and dependable workhorse with all the mod cons. The 14 Flip OLED mostly has it all; it’s lightweight and ultra-thin, has excellent connectivity and all the versatility benefits of a convertible design. Plus, it sports a gorgeous OLED display, robust build and a battery life that will go all day. Without a discrete graphics card, it’s not quite the 3D graphics powerhouse many creators will need, but what it lacks in that department it more than makes up for in portability.

At £1,499.99, the Zenbook 14 FLIP OLED isn't the cheapest option on the market, coming in around the same price as the Dell XPS 15 depending on configuration. That may sound like an indictment – certainly, the XPS 15 packs more of a punch on paper – but you get what you pay for and the Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED certainly provides a fantastic user experience, and the XPS 15 can't touch the Zenbook's portability. If you're never going to fold this thing into tablet or prop it up in its arch shape, it might be worth considering another device in the Zenbook range. But to experience the best the company offers, the Zenbook Flip 14 OLED is highly recommended.

The ASUS Zenbook 14x Flip offers a gorgeous 14-inch, QHD touchscreen, a clever keyboard and trackpad, and a decent processor and battery life. You also get the ability to convert it into tent, stand and tablet modes by rotating the display through a full 360 degrees. So while it's not suitable for 3D work or hardcore gaming, it's a good option for anyone looking for a productivity laptop for use on the go.

The Zenbook 14 Flip OLED is a versatile laptop that transforms into a tablet, thanks to its 360-degree hinges. It also includes a large 75 WHrs battery with fast charging, a backlit keyboard for typing in low light, a unique NumPad on the trackpad, as well as a stylish designer sleeve for protection, and the ASUS Pen 2.0 stylus for writing and making quick notes and for precise input. ASUS Zenbook 14 Flip OLED runs on the latest Windows 11 Home with Microsoft Office Home and Student 2021 pre-installed. With that said, the ASUS Zenbook 14 Flip OLED has most things you need on a Windows-based laptop, it has power, it has style, it’s compact and lightweight, and makes things easy for you while you are on the go. It’s a great notebook for those who want a versatile laptop on the go, for office use or business needs, for students, for video editors, and for those who are into sketching, designing, etc on the large screen, however, the Zenbook 14 Flip OLED is not for heavy gaming fans due to the lack of a discrete GPU.

The Zenbook 14 Flip OLED impresses in many key areas, but it doesn’t stand out in the way you might expect from such a premium convertible. Its stunning 90Hz OLED touchscreen is a real highlight, especially when combined with convertible functionality and the stylus included in the box. The keyboard and trackpad are also very good, despite a couple of unusual design decisions. Battery life and charging speeds are solid, as is the plentiful port selection. However, impressive everyday performance won’t translate to the most demanding workloads due to a lack of discrete GPU or Intel’s most capable CPUs. You’ll also have to put up with a poor webcam and annoying bloatware.

Asus takes the opposite approach to the portable laptop design of many other big names. It favours practicality over flashiness, with the Zenbook 14 Flip resulting in a laptop that weighs more than some, but is a joy to work on and avoids the headaches of some alternative hybrid designs.

Summing up our Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED (2023) review, this is a fantastic 2-in-1 laptop; there’s absolutely zero doubt about that. It manages to impress on all essential fronts like performance, display, design, battery life, and more. While also edging out the competition like Samsung’s Galaxy Book3 Pro 360, MSI Summit Flip 14 Evo, and HP Spectre x360 in terms of price. So if you’re in the market for a solid, premium convertible laptop without breaking the bank, then the Zenbook 14 Flip OLED is an easy recommendation from me. Now, this thing isn’t perfect in any way. Obviously. Apart from all the minor complaints I talked about earlier, there are a few other things I wish Asus did differently. Like including a physical camera kill switch, for example. Or not including bloatware apps like McAfee antivirus. But you know what? These are such small, ignorable complaints that they shouldn’t stop you from getting this otherwise awesome 2-in-1 laptop.

The Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED (2023) is going to be a great laptop for a lot of people. The only question is whether it’s the best at this price point. Asus expects it to sell online for around £1499, where you’ll also find some really compelling alternatives. The obvious one is the 13.6-inch Apple MacBook Air M2, which can be found for £1249 with a 256GB SSD or £1549 with a 512GB SSD, though with just 8GB of RAM and no OLED display. The Dell XPS 13 is also due a 13th-gen Intel update, while the Acer Spin 5 is another strong option, albeit one with an older 12th-gen Core i7. However, not all of these laptops have the Asus’s flexible form factor, and none can currently match its OLED screen. Taken as an overall package, the Zenbook 14 Flip OLED is hard to beat.

Finally – this laptop is priced at RM5,499. I’d say it’s actually worth it considering that we’ve also tried another 2-in-1 laptop recently. All I have to say is, the ASUS Zenbook 14 Flip OLED has better hardware and implementation of a laptop-tablet hybrid – and at a lower price too.
