Das Asus U2E Subnotebook setzt im Design mit dem Premiumleder auf dem Displaydeckel und um die Tastatur herum Maßstäbe. Zudem bekommt man eine schöne Verpackung und viel Zubehör. Maximale Leistung kann das U2E nicht bieten, da es auf geringen Stromverbrauch ausgelegt ist. Der Lüfter ist unter Last leider sehr laut und das DVD-Laufwerk entwickelt starke Vibrationen, die sich auf das gesamte Gehäuse übertragen. Für 1699 EUR bekommt man ein schickes mobiles aber eben lautes 11" Subnotebook. Wegen des besonderen Designs erhält es die Special Nomination.

Add in the excellent screen, good performance and attractive design and you've got an exceedingly tempting alternative. Our only other regret is the lack of an HSDPA equipped version.

Go on, run your hands along the Asus U2E's leather-trim exterior. This ultraportable laptop's luxurious cladding and long list of extras will make you feel like you're handling premium gear. But we found other things to like about the Asus U2E beyond its style. To begin with, the Asus U2E weighs just 1.25kg. It has a brilliant 1366-x-768-pixel, 11in widescreen display. Like Sony's VAIO VGN-TZ295N ultraportable, the Asus U2E's screen is easy to view in tight spaces, although it lacks LED backlighting. The Asus U2E isn't as complete a package as the VAIO, but it is much cheaper, at a reasonable (for an ultraportable) £1,394 inc VAT. The ASUS U2E is perhaps one of the best notebooks to hit the ultra-mobile market. Ever. By offering both solid performance for this segment, a list of features that exceeds machines much larger, size and weight that any road warrior would envy and battery life of nearly 8.5 hours ASUS is able to address nearly every concern for the mobile market; not to mention that it is simultaneously sexy and elegant. I have no doubt that the U2E will be incredibly popular and from my time testing it I can see no reason why it shouldn't be.

Serie: Aufgrund hoher Portabilität und realativ guter Mobilitätswertungen für eine Nutzung unterwegs vorgesehen.

NVIDIA GeForce 8400M G: Stark abgespeckte 8400M GS Grafikkarte mit geringem Speicherbus und nur der Hälfte an Stream Prozessoren. Die Spieleleistung wird dadurch sehr eingeschränkt. Nur MPEG-2 Videobeschleunigung.

Diese Karten können nur sehr alte und sehr anspruchslose 3D Spiele flüssig darstellen.  Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung oder (SD) Videoschnitt sind jedoch ohne große Einschränkungen möglich.
