Als Fazit bleibt zu sagen, dass der Asus Eee PC 1018P durchaus ein sehr gelungenes Netbook darstellt. Das Design hebt sich von der Masse ab, der 1018P ist sowohl edel als auch robust und top verarbeitet. Tastatur und Touchpad sind wirklich hervorragend, und auch das Display kann zumindest in Dass sich das Netbook bei der Leistung nicht besonders von der Konkurrenz absetzen kann, war bei den Eckdaten eigentlich bereits vorher klar. In den nächsten Wochen dürfte der Asus Eee PC 1018P hoffentlich in Deutschland auf den Makrt kommen, der Preis wird wohl um die 400 Euro liegen.

The Eee PC 1018P has better hardware compared to the Asus Eee PC 1008P but lower battery life, and it's arguable which one is a better looking netbook between the two, in terms of style and design. If you want a slim netbook for a style statement with improved hardware, some unique features but average performance, look forward to the Eee PC 1018P.

In the end, both the 1018P and 1015PE are very solid choices, though if you're looking for a netbook that lasts longer on a charge we have to recommend the Toshiba Mini NB305 or the Eee PC 1005PE.

The Asus Eee PC 1018P is very good at being a netbook. It's particularly slim, otherwise small, light and more pleasant to use than some cheaper alternatives thanks to its aluminium clad interior. However, you do pay for such luxuries and with a single-core Atom processor and no HDMI output, it can't handle video nearly as well as some similarly-priced netbooks from other manufacturers.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. ist ein großer taiwanesischer Hersteller von Computer-Hardware mit Sitz in Taipeh, gegründet 1989. Unter dem Markennamen Asus fertigt das Unternehmen eine breite Palette von Produkten, darunter Laptops, Desktops, Motherboards, Grafikkarten, Monitore, Smartphones und Netzwerkgeräte, Komplettsysteme und PC-Bauteile für Endkunden.

Unter dem Markennamen ROG (Republic of Gamers) stellt ASUS Gaming-Laptops her, die bei Spielern für ihre leistungsstarken Spezifikationen, dedizierten Grafikkarten, Displays mit hoher Bildwiederholrate und fortschrittlichen Kühlsystemen bekannt sind.

Über das Gaming hinaus werden eine breite Palette von Notebooks für unterschiedliche Anforderungen und Budgets geboten: von ultraschlanken und leichten Ultrabooks bis hin zu vielseitigen 2-in-1-Convertibles und budgetfreundlichen Optionen. 2023 hatte Asus einen Weltmarktanteil von 7% am PC-Markts.

Die Kundenzufriedenheit mit ASUS-Notebooks betrifft Leistung, die Funktionen und das gute Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis der ASUS-Notebooks. Wie bei jeder Marke gibt es jedoch gelegentlich Berichte über Probleme wie Überhitzung, Treiberkompatibilität oder Probleme mit der Verarbeitungsqualität.

3D Spiele sind auf diesen Vertretern nur in Ausnahmen spielbar, grundsätzlich sind die Grafiklösungen hierfür jedoch nicht geeignet. Office Programme und Internet surfen dürfte jedoch ohne Problem möglich sein.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3150: Integrierte (shared memory) Grafikkarte welche im Prozessor Intel Atom N4xx integriert ist. Basiert laut Intel auf einen "optimierten" X3100 Kern, ist jedoch nur minimal schneller als der alte GMA 950. Daher für HD Videos und 3D Spiele nicht geeignet.

Intel Atom: Die Intel Atom Serie besteht aus 64-Bit Mikroprozessoren für günstige und stromsparende Notebooks, MIDs oder UMPC. Besonderheit der Architektur, ist das die Befehle nicht wie derzeit üblich (z. B. Intel Core Architekture oder AMD Turion) "out of Order"  sondern  "in  Order"  ausgeführt  werden. Dadurch verliert man zwar einiges an Performance, jedoch spart dies Transistoren und daher Kosten und dadurch auch etwas Strom.

N450: Intel Atom CPU für Netbooks mit integriertem DDR2 Speichercontroller und GMA 3150 Grafik. Die Leistung ist nur etwas besser eine Kombination aus N270 / GMA950, jedoch ist der gesamte Stromverbrauch deutlich besser. Die Leistung ist daher immer nur vergleichbar mit einem alten 1.2 GHz Pentium 3M.

N455: Intel Atom CPU für Netbooks mit integriertem DDR2 / DDR3 Speichercontroller (als Unterschied zum sonst identischen N450) und GMA 3150 Grafik. Die Gesamtleistung sollte dank des DDR3 Hauptspeicher nur minimal über einem N450 liegen und daher immer noch auf dem Level N270 / GMA950.

N475: Atom CPU für Netbooks (N470 mit DDR3 Speicherkontroller) und integrierter GMA 3150 Grafik. Die Leistung der CPU ist anscheinend nur etwas besser als die des Atom Z450, jedoch ist der gesamte Stromverbrauch deutlich besser. Die Leistung ist daher nur für einfache Aufgaben ausreichend (Office, Surfen).
