Inklusive Stift (110 Euro) und Tastatur liegt man bei mindestens 970 Euro für die günstigste Version des iPad Pro 9.7. Mit 256 Gigabyte Speicher sind es dann fast 1500 Euro. Der Preis eines guten Rechners ist allemal erreicht, aber das iPad Pro ist um so weniger ein Notebook-Ersatz, je produktiver und aktiver man damit arbeiten will. Zeichnen und schreiben, das geht, aber Komplizierteres erfordert dann doch wieder konventionelle Hardware.

Es macht Spaß, mit dem iPad Pro 9.7 Fotos und Videos anzusehen, zu spielen oder Musik zu hören und im Internet zu surfen und E-Mails auszutauschen. Ein echter PC-Ersatz ist das Gerät indes nicht. Zum einen fehlen dazu noch einige Programme, zum anderen gibt es noch keine Tastatur mit deutschem Layout. Die QWERTY-Tastatur, die ersatzweise derzeit auch hierzulande verkauft wird, hat zudem keinen wirklich guten Druckpunkt und ist keineswegs ein Ersatz etwa für das sehr gute Keyboard, das Apple bei seinen MacBooks verbaut.

Das neue iPad Pro hat mir im Test gefallen – die 12,9-Zoll-Variante wäre mir ohnehin zu groß. Privat besitze ich ein iPad mini 4, könnte mich aber auch mit den 9,7 Zoll des iPad Pro anfreunden. Die Pro-Features sind ein nettes Gimmick, das Zeichnen gelingt mithilfe des Apple Pencil wunderbar, ist für mich aber aufgrund fehlender Zeichenkünste nicht mehr als eine Spielerei.

We can't say definitively which tablet is better before we've had a chance to properly benchmark and test out the newcomer. The lower price is certainly tempting, and while there are rumblings - and grumblings - about the smaller amount of RAM, there's a good reason why Apple doesn't disclose such figures: they're irrelevant to the average buyer. As long as it performs well for real-world tasks, it's sure to be another winner.

There are some subtle differences like the Rose Gold option, "Hey Siri" and the camera bump but if you're going to spend £150 on the new iPad Pro instead of the iPad Air 2 it's got to be because you will make use of the better screen, extra processing power, more storage and the way it's setup for productivity. And that's with the additional cost of the Smart Keyboard and/or Apple Pencil. If you're just looking for a decent tablet for pleasure, the iPad Air 2 will suffice.

Es verfügt über einem Apple A9X Chipsatz mit 64-Bit-Architektur, 2 GB RAM, einer 2,16 GHz Dual-Core-CPU und einer PowerVR Series 7 12-Kern-GPU. Wahlweise kann es mit 32 GB, 128 GB und 256 GB internen Speicher ausgestattet sein. Der Bildschirm des iPad Pro 9.7 ist mit kratzfesten und Fingerabruck abweisendem Glas geschützt, jedoch dennoch angenehm zu verwenden.

Obwohl es sich um ein Tablet handelt, liefert seine 12 MP iSight-Kamera beste Qualität, wodurch das Apple iPad Pro 9.7 ein großartiges Gerät für Fotografie ist.
