Ein Fazit über das 15" MacBook Pro "Early/Mid 2010" zu ziehen fällt etwas schwer. Apple Fans haben sich eigentlich etwas mehr Neuerungen gewünscht, als "nur" die neuen Intel Core i5/i7 Prozessoren und eine aktuelle Grafikkarte im bekannten Gehäuse. Es fehlt etwas die Innovation. Jedoch muss man ehrlich sagen - wozu? Es gibt leider immer noch kein Windows Notebook mit vergleichbaren Qualitäten.

Die aktualisierte Variante des Apple Macbook Pro im 15,4-Zoll Format mit Intel Core i7 Prozessor kann sich aus technischer Sicht sehen lassen. Zwar wird nur eine Zweikern-CPU verbaut, anders würde jedoch die Intel GMA HD Graphics nicht mitspielen. Diese wird für die automatische Umschaltung der Grafiklösung unter Mac OS X benötigt. The new 15" MacBook Pro is priced at Rs. 1,09,900, Rs. 1,19,000 and Rs. 1,29,900 forthe 2.4Ghz, 2.53GHz and 2.66GHz respectively. The pricing is not what you would call competitive and as usual spec for spec the MacBook Pros don't hold up the competition. It's not terribly good value for money, especially when you consider that Apple short changes you for things like an extra USB port or providing something like the Apple Remote in the package. You would also need to get separate adaptors for things such aVGAorHDMI out, something that most notebooks these days have on-board. Then there are also otherthings such as support for Blu-ray drives or having bigger hard drives on board. 250GB hard drive on a notebook costing more than Rs. 1 lakh is just being miserly.

You can show me better benchmark results, without doubt, but in the real world this machine boots up quickly, runs smoothly, responds to commands instantly, operates quietly and performs slickly. It looks stylish in an understated way, and heads will surely turn when you place the machine on a boardroom table. In emotional terms, it's the computer equivalent of stepping into the Cannes sunlight on a hotel balcony facing the sea while wearing a casual Armani suit, no tie. You're telling yourself "I paid way too much for this" but you love every second of it.

You’ll see a sizable performance boost and an increase in battery life as well. It’s only compared to the previous generation unibody MacBook Pro that you’ll find the upgrade tougher to justify. Not to mention the finicky switchable graphics and potentially more power hungry CPU can make real world battery life closer to the 4 - 6 hour range rather than the almost guaranteed 5+ hours you’d see on the previous generation.

Beim Retina Display, ursprünglich als innovative Technologie gemeinsam mit dem iPhone 4 vorgestellt, ist die Pixeldichte so hoch, dass die menschliche Retina einzelne Pixel nicht mehr unterscheiden kann. Dank seines Retina Displays erhielt das iPhone 4 vom Wall Street Journal den Titel "Bestes Gerät seiner Klasse" und wurde von Engadet als "Bestes Smarthphone am Markt" bezeichnet. Das im Juni auf der WWDC in San Franciso vorgestellte MacBook Pro mit Retina Display soll als eigenständige, vom ursprünglichen MacBook Pro unabhängige Produktlinie an den Erfolg des iPhone 4 anschließen.

Abgesehen vom Retina Display, erhielt der neue Laptop auch ein neues Design, das an das MacBook Air erinnert, sieht man von fehlenden SuperDrive, Ethernet und FireWire 800 ab. Zudem bekam es, anders als die ursprünglichen MacBooks Pro Serien, die mit einer herkömmlichen Festplatte auskommen müssen, ein Solid-State-Drive. Kurzum, das neue MacBook Pro mit Retina Bildschirm bietet die Vorteile aller aktuellen Technologien von Apple, angefangen vom fantastischen Bildschirm des iPhones und iPads über gute Systemleistung bis hin zu Portabilität, Design und Flash-Laufwerk.

Im besonderen der Retina Bildschirm ist aktuell der schärfste Bildschirm und übertrifft zum Zeitpunkt seiner Einführung alle anderen Laptop- und Computerbildschirme. Der Bildschirm spielt eine derart wichtige Rolle, dass Apple sogar die Bezeichnung "MacBook Pro mit Retina Display" gewählt hat. Der Bildschirm wiegt in der Tat die nachteilige Preisgestaltung auf – der Laptop stammt schließlich von Apple. Vorausgesetzt der hohe Einstiegspreis ist leistbar, handelt es sich um den tollsten Laptop, den man aktuell kaufen kann.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M: Die GeForce GT 330M ist die Nachfolgerkarte der GT 230M und technisch eine etwas höher getaktete GT 240M (und dadurch minimal schneller).

Einige nicht anspruchsvolle aktuelle Spiele können mit geringen Details noch flüssig gespielt werden. Für Office und Video natürlich ausreichende Leistungsreserven.

520M: Der Core i5-520M besitzt im Vergleich zum i7-640 nur 3MB L3 Cache und taktet zwischen 2.4-2.93 GHz (je nach Auslastung dank Turbo Mode). Durch Hyperthreading werden bis zu 4 Threads gleichzeitig bearbeitet. Im Package ist auch noch eine integrierte Grafikkarte (GMA HD mit 500-766 MHz) und ein Speichercontroller (beide noch 45nm Fertigung).
