Das Amazon Fire HD 10 in der Neuauflage ist kein schlechtes Tablet. Schon gar nicht für den Preis. Die Verarbeitungsqualität könnte besser sein, aber ansonsten hat sich das Gerät als solide Medienmaschine erwiesen. Wenn man sich selbst hauptsächlich im Amazon-Universum bewegt und und wohl fühlt oder einfach ein Gerät für den Nachtschrank sucht, macht man mit dem Fire HD 10 nichts verkehrt.

Modell: Das Amazon Fire HD 10 2017 verfügt über einen ausgezeichneten 10-Zoll-Bildschirm und es ist für eine Fülle von Anwendungen schnell genug. Es ist billig und leistungsstark und bringt endlich einen soliden Bildschirm in Amazons Slate-Produktlinie. Es handelt sich um ein ideales Gerät für Binge-Watching (Serienmarathons). Allerdings sollten Sie sich darauf einrichten, dass Sie ohne Googles Apps auskommen müssen. Das Fire HD 10 sieht so aus und wirkt wie ein größeres Fire HD 8. Es ist es ein solide gebautes Tablet mit schwarzem, blauem oder orangem Kunststoffgehäuse. Der Slate misst 262 x 159 x 9,8 mm (10,3 x 6,3 x 0.4 Zoll) und wiegt 0,49 kg (17,4 Unzen). Es handelt sich um eine robustes Tablet, die einige Schläge überstehen wird. Allerdings ist das Gerät nicht offiziell wasserfest. Es verfügt über zwei laute Lautsprecher an der linken Seite (bzw. der Unterseite, wenn man es im Querformat hält), eine normale Kopfhörerbuchse und einen MicroSD-Kartenslot, der den internen Speicher von 32 GB ergänzen kann. Von den 32 GB internen Speicher stehen dem Unser 24,3 GB zur Verfügung. Der Kartenslot hat mit einer 256 GB Karte gut funktioniert. Im Inneren arbeiten 2 GB RAM (doppelt so viel wie zuvor) sowie ein 1,8 GHz Quad-Core-Prozessor, von welchem Amazon behauptet, dass er 30 Prozent schneller wäre als im vorigen Modell. Web-Surfen mit dem standardmäßigen Silk-Browser ist schnell und das Slate hatte mit dem Streamen von 1080p-Videos und vielen offenen Tabs keine Probleme. Amazon inkludiert auch eine 2-MP-Kamera an der Rückseite, die selbst für eine Frontkamera heutezutage sehr gering auflöst, einmal ganz abgesehen von einer primären Kamera. Außerdem gibt es eine nach vorne gerichtete VGA-Kamera (640 x 480 Pixel), die wie eine Welle aus der Vergangenheit wirkt. Diese Kameras sind primär für Video-Chats gedacht.

Amazons Fire OS Betriebssystem basiert auf Android Lollipop und Android-Apps, doch User können nicht auf den Google Play Store zugreifen. User können nur Amazons Store nutzen und dieser bietet viele konkurrierende Medien-Dienste. Das Betriebssystem sieht überhaupt nicht nach Android aus. Es handelt sich um ein Karussell von herunterladbaren Amazon-Inhalten und -Apps. Das neue Fire HD 10 ist Amazons erstes Tablet, das mit einem virtuellen Assistenten vollständig handfreie Kommunikation bietet. Anstatt für das Absetzten von Befehlen einen Button zu drücken, können User einfach laut "Alexa" sagen – auch wenn das Tablet schläft. Es funktioniert ziemlich ähnlich wie Amazons Echo-Geräte, außer dass User zusätzlich zu den Sprachantworten des Assistenten am Bildschirm Feedback erhalten. Die Akkulaufzeit ist solide. Beim Streamen einen Vollbild-Videos via WLAN bei maximaler Helligkeit hält das Tablet 6 Stunden und 14 Minuten durch. Das ist mehr als eine Stunde länger als das HD 8 (4 Stunden und 42 Minuten). Die Energie sollte reichen, um Kinder auf einer langen Autoreise zu unterhalten. Werden der Low-Power-Modus und Automatic Smart Suspend aktiviert, verlängert sich die Akkulaufzeit durch Verringern der Bildschirmhelligkeit und Abschalten der kabellosen Verbindungen, wenn diese nicht benötigt werden. Das Fire HD eignet sich für Kinder und jene, die ein speziell auf Medien ausgerichtetes Tablet suchen. Sollten Sie jedoch etwas mehr von ihrem Tablet erwarten, könnte es sich nicht um die richtige Wahl handeln. Der Markt ist mit anderen Optionen überschwemmt.
