Das Alienware 15 ist etwas wuchtig und trägt kein optisches Laufwerk. Den satten Klang der Stereolautsprecher hätten wir gern noch etwas lauter gehabt, der Grafikverstärker und das Notebook unter Last waren dafür viel zu laut. Trotz der Kritikpunkte und dem Mangel bei der Geräuschentwicklung lohnt sich ein Blick auf das Alienware 15, denn der Gamer zeigt auch gute Seiten.

Alienware is the Kleenex of gaming PCs: no it's not for wiping your nose, we mean it's a brand that stands for the entire category. "I want an Alienware" is synonymous with I want a gaming PC. It began as a boutique brand with killer specs and crazy looks, and in the many years since Dell bought Alienware, they've brought a scale of manufacturing and marketing that's made it a (for this sort of computer) volume leader.

The Alienware 15 is an excellent machine obviously. Very good thermals with no throttling, very good keyboard, good 1080p IPS, slick looks, many features, low noise and very good performance. The AW15 basic version, although with an I5-4210H will be faster than GTX 960M machines by around 20-30%, so if you can get one for $1000-$1050 it’s a good option.

Spec-wise, this machine has a powerful GPU with overall good performance, but the CPU can’t keep up with most of its competitors. For the price of around €1600 you can easily snatch a notebook with quad-core Core i7 CPU, but you might be disappointed with the GPU performance. So the question here is: Are you willing to trade the CPU for a more capable GPU? IF the answer is yes – go for the Alienware 15. It’s a great notebook and gives you a room for improvement with the Alienware Graphics Amplifier and the CPU will still handle any modern game and it won’t affect your FPS much.

Modell: Alienware ist eine gut etablierte Gaming-Laptop-Marke mit weltweit vielen Unterstützern. Sie haben nun das Alienware 15 herausgebracht, welches ungezügelte Rechenleistung verspricht. Es verfügt über einen 15.6 Zoll großen Active Matrix TFT Color LCD mit einer Auflösung von 1600 x 900 Pixeln. Der Bildschirm kann auch auf Ultra-HD aufgerüstet werden. Zudem können User zwischen einem entspiegelten IPS Bildschirm mit FullHD Auflösung und einem TrueLife-Touchscreen wählen.

Der schwarze, solide Körper ist fast 5.08 cm dick und wiegt ungefähr 4 kg, weil er aus Kupfer, Aluminium und Kohlefaser gefertigt ist. Die Abmessungen sind tatsächlich dünner als frühere Alienware-Modelle. Beim leistungsstarken Prozessor in diesem Gerät handelt es sich um einen Intel Quad Core i7-720QM mit einer Taktrate von bis zu 1,6 GHz. Dieser wurde mit einer Nvidia GTX 970m Grafikkarte kombiniert. Die übrige Hardware in diesem Laptop sind  8 GB RAM, eine 1 TB Festplatte mit 5400 U/min und 3 GB GDDR5 VRAM. Gamer werden sich über die Kilpsch 2.1 Audio Lautsprecher sowie über den 8-Zellen-Akku mit 92 Wh, der ungefähr zwei Stunden durchhält, freuen. Das Alienware ist insgesamt eine großartige Wahl für Gaming.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M: Schnelle Notebook-Grafikkarte der High-End-Klasse aus der GeForce-GTX-900M-Baureihe. Basiert auf dem Maxwell-Chip GM204.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.

Die Produktpalette fokussiert vor allem Gaming-Laptops und -Desktops, die von Dell entwickelt und hergestellt werden. Markenzeichen ist ein leicht futuristisch anmutendes Design mit einem Alien als Logo. Zusätzlich werden Workstations für Privat- und Geschäftskunden vertrieben.

Wie bei jeder Marke gibt es auch bei Alienware einige Kritikpunkte. Einige Kunden haben sich über die hohen Preise der Produkte beschwert, während andere die Qualität der Kundendienstleistungen bemängelt haben.
