In any case, prepare to pay a little bit more for the extra features. The Predator 700 sells for around $3 000 at the time of writing this review while the ASUS ROG Zephyrus’ asking price is around $2 500 – 2 700. This positions both machines in a category of their own as laptops with GTX 1070 are considerably less expensive while GTX 1080 are huge 17-inchers charging a price premium. And if you are not really that into “portability”, you might be better off with a GTX 1070-powered laptop with a good cooling solution. Just a little overclocking will easily match the GTX 1080 Max-Q’s performance.

Das Acer Predator Triton 700 ist ebenso leichtgewichtig und attraktiv wie leistungsstark. Es ist im Prinzip ein High-End-Gaming-Laptop, der ein gutes Verhältnis zwischen Funktionen und Gewicht liefern soll. Von Weitem betrachtet kann man das Triton 700 leicht mit einem typischen Modell aus Acers Predator-Reihe verwechseln. Die scharfkantigen Linien, profilierten Kanten, und das matte Finish des Triton 700 sind seit langem Markenzeichen der Gaming-Reihe des Unternehmens, so auch das überdimensionierte Scharnier und das stylisierte Gitter an der hinteren Lüfterplatte. Das Acer Predator Triton 700 richtet sich in vielen Designaspekten nach dem Predator 21 X, so z.B. auch das aquamarin-schwarze Farbschema. Auffallender ist jedoch die Tastatur, die sich an der Unterkante des Notebooks befindet, wo normalerweise das Trackpad und die Handballenauflage vorzufinden sind.  Da die Tastatur im Grunde bündig mit dem vorderen Rand des Laptops ist, fehlt vorne die Handballenauflage. Der Verlust für das Touchpad ist allerdings ein Gewinn für die Tastatur. Die Island-Style-Tasten mit Hintergrundbeleuchtung bekommen die ganze Breite des Gehäuses des 15,6-Zoll-Notebooks, und somit sehr viel Platz. Das interessanteste Designmerkmal ist die große Gorilla-Glass-Platte über der Tastatur. So können Nutzer die Innereien der Laptops sehen, einschließlich des AeroBlade-3D-Lüfters und der fünf Wärmerohre. Es sieht sehr gut aus und erinnert an die mit Fenstern versehenen Seiten von Gaming-Desktops. Dennoch ist die Platte nicht nur ein Hingucker, sondern kann auch als Touchpad benutzt werden. Das 21-zöllige 21 X war ein riesiger Laptop, der über 8 kg wog; der 15,6-Zöller Triton 700 ist ein relatives Leichtgewicht, bringt 2,6 kg auf die Waage und passt in eine Hülle mit einer Dicke von 18,9 mm.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Max-Q: Efiiziente high-End Notebook-Grafikkarte mit 8 GDDR5X-Grafikspeicher basierend auf den Pascal GP104 Chip. Verfügt über 2.560 Shadereinheiten und bietet durch geringere Taktraten etwa 10-15 % weniger Performance als die normale Laptop GTX 1080, jedoch bei deutlich geringerem Stromverbrauch.

Diese Grafikkarten sollten alle modernen Spiele flüssig darstellen können. Anspruchsvolle Spiele müssen jedoch in mittlerer Detailstufe gespielt werden. Ältere und weniger anspruchsvolle Spiele wie die Sims Serie können auch in hohen Detailsstufen flüssig dargestellt werden.
