Der Intel Core i9-13980HX ist eine High-End-CPU auf Basis der neuen Raptor-Lake-Architektur für große und schwere Notebooks. Die CPU wurde Anfang 2023 vorgestellt und ist ähnlich zum Desktop Core i9-13900K , jedoch mit niedrigeren Taktraten.
Die insgesamt 32 Threads unterteilen sich in P-Cores und E-Cores, die wir bereits von Alder-Lake her kennen. Dabei kommen nach wie vor 8 Performance-Kerne (P-Cores) mit Hyperthreading zum Einsatz. Die Anzahl der energieeffizienten E-Cores hat sich indes auf 16 erhöht, sodass in Summe 32 Threads gleichzeitig verarbeitet werden können. Die P-Cores takten von 2,2 bis 5,6 GHz und die E-Cores von 1,6 bis 4 GHz. Der integrierte Speicherkontroller unterstützt DDR5 mit 5600 MHz.
Die neue Raptor Lake Architektur bietet im Vergleich zu Alder Lake verbesserte P-Cores (Raptor Cove Architektur mit mehr Cache), mehr E-Cores (selbe Gracemont Architektur) und höhere Taktraten dank des verbesserten Intel 7 Prozesses. Weiters unterstützt Intel bei den Topmodellen nun schnelleren DDR5 Hauptspeicher (bis 5600 MHz).
Performance
Im Vergleich zum Intel Core i9-12900HX bietet der Core i9-13980HX weiterhin 8 Kerne, welche aber durch 16 weitere E-Cores bei anspruchsvollen Anwendungen entlastet werden und somit für eine sehr hohe Multi-Thread-Performance sorgen. Die E-Cores kümmern sich in erster Linie um Hintergrundanwendungen. Die hybride Architektur vertraut dabei auf den Intel Thread Direktor, der für die richtige Zuteilung der Aufgaben zuständig ist. Im Vergleich zu Alder-Lake konnte die IPC deutlich gesteigert werden. Zusammen mit dem deutlich höheren Boost profitiert die CPU in allen Belangen von einer deutlich spürbaren Leistungssteigerung.
Der 13980HX wird im weiter verbesserten 10nm FinFET Verfahren bei Intel gefertigt (Intel 7 Prozess) und ist spezifiziert mit 55 Watt Base Power und 157 Watt Turbo Power.
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D ► remove from comparison
Der AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D ist ein High-End-Desktop-Prozessor der Raphael Serie mit 8-Zen-4-Kernen und SMT (Simultaneous Multithreading), womit dieser in Summe bis zu 16 Threads gleichzeitig verarbeiten kann. Nach der Ankündigung im Januar 2023 auf der CES in Las Vegas startete die Markteinführung im April 2023. Nach der Markteinführung der beiden Topmodelle AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D und dem AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D folgte dann das dritte Modell, welches mit dem 3D V-Cache deutlich mehr Gamingleistung bietet. Die CPU-Kerne takten mit 4,2 GHz in der Basis und können mit bis zu 5 GHz (Einzelkern Turbo) betrieben werden. Der AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D besitzt einen CCD mit 8-Kernen, welcher den schnellen 3D-V-Cache beinhaltet. Damit ändert sich der Aufbau im Vergleich zu den beiden Ryzen-9-Modellen erheblich, denn diese beiden besitzen zwei CCDs, von denen jedoch nur einer den 3D-V-Cache nutzen kann.
Die Leistung des AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D ist durchweg gut, wenngleich die Multi-Thread-Leistung aufgrund der acht nativen Rechenkerne etwas leidet. Die eigentliche Kernkompetenz des AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D ist jedoch der Bereich des Gamings und das beherrscht der Prozessor außerordentlich gut. Im Test sehen wir eine durchweg hohe Gaming-Performance, womit sogar ein Intel Core i9-13900K geschlagen werden kann.
Bei der Leistungsaufnahme orientiert sich der AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D an den anderen beiden Modellen mit 3D-V-Cache, womit auch der 8-Kerner extrem sparsam ist. In Zahlen bedeutet dies, dass auch der AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D mit einer TDP von bis zu 120 Watt spezifiziert ist. Das PPT (Package Power Tracking) ebenfalls mit bis zu 162 Watt angegeben. Zum Vergleich: ein AMD Ryzen 9 7950X ist mit 170 Watt (TDP) respektive 230 Watt (PPT) spezifiziert.

Die insgesamt 20 Threads unterteilen sich in P-Cores und E-Cores, die wir bereits von Alder-Lake her kennen. Der 13650HX bietet 6 Performance-Kerne (P-Cores) mit Hyperthreading und 8 Effizienzkerne (E-Cores) ohne Hyperthreading. Die P-Cores takten von 2,5 (Base) - 4,7 GHz (Single-Core-Boost) bzw 4,5 GHz (alle Kerne). Die E-Cores takten von 1,8 GHz - 3,5 GHz.
Die neue Raptor Lake Architektur bietet im Vergleich zu Alder Lake verbesserte P-Cores (Raptor Cove Architektur mit mehr Cache), mehr E-Cores (selbe Gracemont Architektur) und höhere Taktraten dank des verbesserten Intel 7 Prozesses. Weiters unterstützt Intel bei den Topmodellen nun schnelleren DDR5 Hauptspeicher (bis 5600 MHz bei den i9, jedoch nur 4800 MHz beim 13500HX).
Die Performance sollte knapp unterhalb des Intel Core i5-12650HX liegen (14 Kerne, Alder Lake, bis 4,8 GHz).
