Der Intel Core i9-12900HK ist eine High-End-CPU auf Basis der neuen Alder-Lake-Architektur, die im Januar 2022 vorgestellt wurde. Die CPU basiert auf den Alder Lake-P Chip (für H und P-Serie) und bietet alle 6 Performance Kerne (P-Kerne, Golden Cove Architektur) und 8 Effizienzkerne (E-Kerne, Gracemont Architektur). Die P-Kerne unterstützten Hyperthreading (daher gemeinsam 20 Threads) und takten von 2,5 bis 5 GHz. Die E-Kerne takten von 1,8 - 3,8 GHz und sollen eine vergleichbare Performance wie alte Skylake Kerne bieten (z.B. i7-6920HQ ). Die K-Variante bezeichnet den freien Multiplikator, wodurch sich die CPU übertakten lässt. Im Unterschied zum 12900H, bietet der 12900HK nur die "Essentials"-Features von vPro.
Performance
Im Vergleich zum Intel Core i9-11980HK (Tiger Lake-H mit 8 Kernen) kann der 12900HK in allen Bereichen punkten. Die neuen Golden Cove Kerne bieten eine leicht höhere Single Thread Performance und dank der gesamt 14 Kerne können Multi-Thread-Anwendungen deutlich beschleunigt werden. Intel gibt z.b. bei Spielen eine durchschnittlich 13% höhere Performance an und bei Blender Rendering 30% weniger Renderzeit (BMW Car Demo). In unseren Tests ist die Performance stark abhängig von den TDP Settings und der Kühlung und kann sich im Schnitt etwas vom Ryzen 9 6900HX absetzen (+11% zur Zeit des Schreibens, siehe Vergleich ).
Grafikeinheit
Wie auch der Vorgänger, integriert Intel in Alder Lake eine Intel Xe basierende Grafikeinheit. Beim 12900HK sind alle 96 EUs aktiviert und takten mit bis zu 1,45 GHz.
Features
Wie auch Tiger Lake, hat auch Alder-Lake-P WiFi 6E und Thunderbolt 4 (4x) teilintegriert. Der integrierte Speicherkontroller unterstützt DDR5-4800, DDR4-3200, LPDDR5-5200 und LPDDR4x-4267. Der integrierte Gaussian and Neural Accelerator (GNA) ist nun in Version 3.0 verbaut. Die Media Engine Quick Sync 8 ist die selbe wie in Rocket Lake und unterstützt MPEG-2, AVC, VC-1 Decode, JPEG, VP8 Decode, VP9, HEVC und AV1 Decode. Der Chip unterstützt nur PCIe 4.0 (x8 for GPU und zwei x4 für SSDs).
Leistungsaufnahme
Der Intel Core i9-12900HK ist mit 45 Watt TDP angegeben (PL2 115 Watt). Die meisten Notebooks werden aber einen PL1 von etwa 60 Watt erlauben. Bei geringer Last, sollte der Stromverbrauch dank der sparsamen Gracemont Kerne sehr gut sein. Gefertigt wird der 12900HK im modernen Intel 7 Prozess (10 nm SuperFin).

Der Intel Celeron J4005 ist ein sparsamer 2,0 GHz schneller Dual-Core-Prozessor auf Basis der neuen Gemini-Lake-Architektur und wurde Ende 2017 vorgestellt. Viele Features wie, AES, SHA und auch die Turbo Boost Funktionen bietet der kleine Einstiegs SoC. Im Turbo kann der Intel Celeron J4005 mit bis zu 2,7 GHz getaktet werden. Der SoC wird im 14-Nanometer-Prozesses mit FinFETs gefertigt und ist fest im System verbaut.
Die Änderungen im Vergleich zur Vorgängerserie zeigen sich auch beim L2-Cache, welcher nun mit 4 MB statt 2 MB, doppelt so groß ist. Alle neuen Gemini-Lake-SoCs unterstützen DDR4-RAM mit maximal 2.400 MHz (auch Low Power RAM).
Zum Einsatz kommen die neuen SoCs vor allem im Einstiegssegment. So werden günstige Mini-ITX Mainboards und Mini-PCs im zu finden sein, welche die neuen stromsparenden Prozessoren beheimaten. Aber auch om Destktop-Segment wird Intel die aktuellsten NUC mit den heuen SoCs ausstatten.
Mit der Intel UHD Graphics 600 bietet der Prozessor eine integrierte Grafikeinheit. Beim Intel Celeron J4005 bietet die Intel UHD Graphics 600 12 EUs und taktet mit 250 MHz bis 700 MHz.
Architektur
Die Prozessor-Architektur der Gemini Lake SoCs wurde im Vergleich zum Vorgänger leicht weiterentwickelt. Intel nennt sie nun Goldmont Plus Kerne und verdoppelt den Level 2 Cache von 2 auf 4 MB. Trotzdem sollte die Pro-MHz-Leistung noch deutlich hinter den aktuellen Kaby-Lake Prozessoren bleiben.
