Der Intel Core i9-12900H ist eine High-End-CPU auf Basis der neuen Alder-Lake-Architektur, die im Januar 2022 vorgestellt wurde. Die CPU basiert auf den Alder Lake-P Chip (für H und P-Serie) und bietet alle 6 Performance Kerne (P-Kerne, Golden Cove Architektur) und 8 Effizienzkerne (E-Kerne, Gracemont Architektur). Die P-Kerne unterstützten Hyperthreading (daher gemeinsam 20 Threads) und takten von 2,5 bis 5 GHz. Die E-Kerne takten von 1,8 - 3,8 GHz und sollen eine vergleichbare Performance wie alte Skylake Kerne bieten (z.B. i7-6920HQ ). Im Vergleich zum 12900HK bietet der 12900H keinen freien Multiplikator, aber unterstützt das volle "Enterprise" Feature-Set von vPro (Management Features).
Performance
Im Vergleich zum Intel Core i9-11980HK (Tiger Lake-H mit 8 Kernen) kann der 12900H in allen Bereichen punkten. Die neuen Golden Cove Kerne bieten eine leicht höhere Single Thread Performance und dank der gesamt 14 Kerne können Multi-Thread-Anwendungen deutlich beschleunigt werden. Intel gibt z.b. bei Spielen eine 13% höhere Performance an (1080p high) und bei Blender Rendering 30% weniger Renderzeit (BMW Car Demo).
Grafikeinheit
Wie auch der Vorgänger, integriert Intel in Alder Lake eine Intel Xe basierende Grafikeinheit. Beim 12900H sind alle 96 EUs aktiviert und takten mit bis zu 1,45 GHz.
Features
Wie auch Tiger Lake, hat auch Alder-Lake-P WiFi 6E und Thunderbolt 4 (4x) teilintegriert. Der integrierte Speicherkontroller unterstützt DDR5-4800, DDR4-3200, LPDDR5-5200 und LPDDR4x-4267. Der integrierte Gaussian and Neural Accelerator (GNA) ist nun in Version 3.0 verbaut. Die Media Engine Quick Sync 8 ist die selbe wie in Rocket Lake und unterstützt MPEG-2, AVC, VC-1 Decode, JPEG, VP8 Decode, VP9, HEVC und AV1 Decode. Der Chip unterstützt nur PCIe 4.0 (x8 for GPU und zwei x4 für SSDs).
Leistungsaufnahme
Der Intel Core i9-12900H ist mit 45 Watt TDP angegeben (115W PL2). Bei geringer Last, sollte der Stromverbrauch dank der sparsamen Gracemont Kerne sehr gut sein. Gefertigt wird der 12900H im modernen Intel 7 Prozess (10 nm).
Intel Core i3-8130U ► remove from comparison
Der Intel Core i3-8130U ist ein sparsamer Dual-Core-SoC für Notebooks und Ultrabooks, der auf der Kaby-Lake-Architektur basiert und. Er gehört zur wahrscheinlich zur Kaby-Lake-Refresh Generation (kein Coffee Lake) und ist der direkte Nachfolger des Core i3-7130U (kein Turbo-Boost, fix 2,7 GHz). Die integrierte Grafikkarte hört nun auf den Namen Intel UHD Graphics 620 , unterscheidet sich jedoch von der Intel HD Graphics 620 der Vorgänger nicht. Weiters bietet die CPU noch einen integrierten DDR4-2400 / LPDDR3-2133 Dual-Channel-Speichercontroller sowie VP9- und H.265-Videode- und -encoder. Die Fertigung erfolgt weiterhin in einem 14-Nanometer-Prozess mit FinFET-Transistoren (14nm+?).
Architektur
Im Vergleich mit Skylake hat Intel die zugrundeliegende Mikroarchitektur praktisch unverändert übernommen, sodass sich keine Unterschiede in der Pro-MHz-Leistung ergeben. Überarbeitet wurde lediglich die Speed-Shift-Technik zur schnelleren dynamischen Anpassung von Spannungen und Taktraten, zudem gestattet der gereifte 14-Nanometer-Prozess deutlich höhere Frequenzen und eine bessere Energieeffizienz als bislang.
Performance
Mit 2,2 bis 3,4 GHz taktet der Core i3-8130U beim maximalen Boost deutlich höher als sein Vorgänger i3-7130U (2,7 GHz) . Dadurch sollte die Leistung in etwa einem alten Core i7-6500U (2,5 - 3,1 GHz) bzw Core i5-7260 (2,2 - 3,4 GHz) entsprechen. Der alte Core i3-7130U sollte durch das fehlende Turbo Boost deutlich abgehängt werden (bei ausreichender Kühlung des i3-8130U). Der schnellere Core i5-8250U bietet im Vergleich bereits 4 echte Prozessorkerne und ist dadurch bei Mehrkernlast deutlich schneller. Dadurch eignet sich der Prozessor am besten für alltägliche Aufgaben mit leichtem Multithreading. Bei anspruchsvollen Spielen, sind jedoch Quad-Cores zu bevorzugen.
Grafikeinheit
Die integrierte Intel UHD Graphics 620 ist laut Intel identisch zur Intel HD Graphics 620 (z.B. im Core i3-7130U). Sie verfügt wie die alte HD Graphics 520 über 24 Ausführungseinheiten (EUs) und taktet ebenfalls mit relativ niedrigen 300 - 1.000 MHz (im i7 mit bis zu 1.100 MHz getaktet). Die Performance hängt stark vom verwendeten Arbeitsspeicher ab; mit schnellem DDR4-2133 im Dual-Channel-Betrieb kann sie sich mit einer dedizerten Nvidia GeForce 920M messen.
Anders als Skylake kann Kaby Lake nun auch H.265/HEVC im Main10-Profil mit 10 Bit Farbtiefe sowie Googles VP9-Codec in Hardware decodieren.
Leistungsaufnahme
Die Fertigung erfolgt wahrscheinlich weiterhin im verbesserten 14-Nanometer-Prozess (14nm+) mit FinFET-Transistoren. Der TDP ist weiterhin ULV-typisch mit 15 Watt spezifiziert und kann auf 10 Watt und 800 MHz per cTDP-down konfiguriert werden.

Der Intel Core i7-12650H ist eine High-End-CPU auf Basis der neuen Alder-Lake-Architektur, die im Januar 2022 vorgestellt wurde. Die CPU basiert auf den Alder Lake-P Chip (für H und P-Serie) und bietet alle 6 Performance Kerne (P-Kerne, Golden Cove Architektur) und 4 der 8 Effizienzkerne (E-Kerne, Gracemont Architektur). Die P-Kerne unterstützten Hyperthreading (daher gemeinsam 16 Threads) und takten von 2,3 bis 4,7 GHz. Die E-Kerne takten von 1,7 - 3,5 GHz und sollen eine vergleichbare Performance wie alte Skylake Kerne bieten (z.B. i7-6700HQ ). Im Vergleich zum 12700H bietet der 12650H nur halb so viele E-Kerne und eine schwächere iGPU. Auch vPro wird gar nicht unterstützt.
Performance
Durch die 10 Kerne sollte die Multithread-Leistung oberhalb der alten Tiger-Lake-8-Kerner (bei vergleichbaren Takt, wie der i7-11800H mit bis zu 4,8 GHz) liegen. Bei der Einzelkernperformance dürfte der 12650H auch noch schneller sein, dank der neuen Architektur.
Grafikeinheit
Wie auch der Vorgänger, integriert Intel in Alder Lake eine Intel Xe basierende Grafikeinheit. Beim 12650H sind nur 64 der 96 EUs aktiviert und takten mit bis zu 1,4 GHz.
