Der Intel Core i7-7660U ist ein schneller Dual-Core-SoC für Note- und Ultrabooks, der auf der Kaby-Lake-Architektur basiert und Anfang Jänner 2017 vorgestellt wurde. Die CPU integriert 2 Prozessorkerne, die mit 2,5 bis 4 GHz takten (2-Kern-Turbo nur 3,8 GHz). Dank Hyper-Threading kann der Prozessor vier Threads gleichzeitig bearbeiten. Weiterhin integriert der i7-7660U eine Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 Grafikkarte mit 64 MB eDRAM, einen Dual-Channel-Speichercontroller (DDR4) sowie VP9- und H.265-Videode- und -encoder. Die Fertigung erfolgt weiterhin in einem 14-Nanometer-Prozess mit FinFET-Transistoren.
Im Vergleich zum Core i7-7600U, bietet der 7660U einen höheren Single-Core Turbo von 4 GHz (+100 MHz) aber einen geringeren Dual-Core Turbo (-100 MHz). Auch der Basistakt ist geringer (-300 MHz) jedoch kann der CPU Teil auch auf die 64 MB des eDRAM als L5 Cache zurückgreifen.
Architektur
Im Vergleich mit Skylake hat Intel die zugrundeliegende Mikroarchitektur praktisch unverändert übernommen, sodass sich keine Unterschiede in der Pro-MHz-Leistung ergeben. Überarbeitet wurde lediglich die Speed-Shift-Technik zur schnelleren dynamischen Anpassung von Spannungen und Taktraten, zudem gestattet der gereifte 14-Nanometer-Prozess deutlich höhere Frequenzen und eine bessere Energieeffizienz als bislang.
Performance
Mit 2,5 bis 4 GHz taktet der Core i7-7660U etwas geringer (ausser beim Einzelnkern-Turbo) als der Core i7-7600U. Jedoch kann der CPU Teil auch auf die 64 MB eDRAM zurückgreifen, wodurch die Performance vergleichbar sein sollte.
Grafikeinheit
Die integrierte Intel Iris Plus 640 Grafikkarte repräsentiert die "GT3e"-Ausbaustufe der Kaby-Lake-GPU (Intel Gen. 9.5). Die 48 Ausführungseinheiten (EUs) takten mit 300 bis 1.050 MHz und erlauben in Verbindung mit dem schnellen eDRAM-Cache eine Performance auf dem Niveau einer GeForce 920MX. Im Vergleich zur alten Iris Pro 540 gibt es jedoch keine deutlichen Verbesserungen. Aktuelle Spiele können dadurch oft gar nicht flüssig dargestellt werden oder nur in minimalen bzw mittleren Detailstufe.
Anders als Skylake kann Kaby Lake nun auch H.265/HEVC im Main10-Profil mit 10 Bit Farbtiefe sowie Googles VP9-Codec in Hardware decodieren. Die Anfang Jänner eingeführten Dual-Core-Kaby-Lake-Prozessoren sollten außerdem schon HDCP 2.2 beherrschen.
Leistungsaufnahme
Die Fertigung erfolgt in einem weiter verbesserten 14-Nanometer-Prozess mit FinFET-Transistoren, wodurch die Energieeffizienz nochmals spürbar gestiegen ist. Die TDP wird ULV-typisch mit 15 Watt spezifiziert und kann je nach Einsatzzweck zwischen 7,5 (cTDP Down) und 25 Watt variiert werden.

Der Intel Core i5-1135G7 ist ein sparsamer Quad-Core-SoC für Notebooks und Ultrabooks, der auf der Tiger-Lake-Architektur basiert und im September 2020 vorgestellt wurde. Tiger Lake wird im verbesserten 10nm+-Verfahren (SuperFin genannt) bei Intel gefertigt und nutzt die neuen Willow Cove CPU-Kerne mit einer neuen Mikroarchitektur. Der Intel Core i5-1135G7 bietet vier Kerne mit 2,4 GHz Basistakt und 4,2 GHz Turbo-Takt. Im Vergleich bieten die schnelleren Core i7 Modelle einen deutlich höheren Takt (z.B. Core i7-1186G7 3 - 4,3 GHz).
Eine weitere Neuerung ist die integrierte Intel Iris Xe G7 Grafikkarte (Gen 12) welche eine deutlich höhere Leistung wie die alte Iris Plus G7 in Ice Lake bieten soll. Im 1135G7 bietet die Iris Xe jedoch nur 80 der 96 EUs bei einem Takt von 400 - 1300 MHz.
Wie bisher wird auch weiterhin WLAN (Wifi 6) und nun auch Thunderbolt 4 / USB 4 und 4 Lanes PCIe 4 im Chip (teil-)integriert für schnellere, günstige und platzsparende Implementierungen in Notebooks.
Der TDP kann bei den UP3 CPUs von 12 - 28 Watt gewählt werden und dadurch eignet sich die CPU auch für dünne und leichte Notebooks.
Intel Core i5-1145G7 ► remove from comparison
Der Intel Core i5-1145G7 ist ein sparsamer Quad-Core-SoC für Notebooks und Ultrabooks, der auf der Tiger-Lake-Architektur basiert und Anfang 2021 vorgestellt wurde. Tiger Lake wird im verbesserten 10nm+-Verfahren bei Intel gefertigt und nutzt die neuen Willow Cove CPU-Kerne mit einer neuen Architektur. Die Basis-Taktraten sind je nach TDP Einstellung unterschiedlich. Bei 12 Watt 1,1 GHz und bei maximalen 28 Watt taktet er mit garantierten 2,6 GHz. Der Boost Takt ist bei allen mit maximal 4,4 GHz spezifiziert.
Eine weitere Neuerung ist die integrierte Intel Xe G7 Grafikkarte (Gen 12) mit 80 EUs und bis zu 1,3 GHz welche eine deutlich höhere Leistung wie die alte Iris Plus G7 in Ice Lake bietet.
Wie bisher wird auch weiterhin WLAN (Wifi 6) und Thunderbolt 4 / USB 4 im Chip teilintegriert für schnellere, günstige und platzsparende Implementierungen in Notebooks. Weiters unterstützt die CPU vPro-Management-Features .
