Der Intel Core i7-12700H ist eine High-End-CPU auf Basis der neuen Alder-Lake-Architektur, die im Januar 2022 vorgestellt wurde. Die CPU basiert auf den Alder Lake-P Chip (für H und P-Serie) und bietet alle 6 Performance Kerne (P-Kerne, Golden Cove Architektur) und 8 Effizienzkerne (E-Kerne, Gracemont Architektur). Die P-Kerne unterstützten Hyperthreading (daher gemeinsam 20 Threads) und takten von 2,4 bis 4,7 GHz. Die E-Kerne takten von 1,8 - 3,5 GHz und sollen eine vergleichbare Performance wie alte Skylake Kerne bieten (z.B. i7-6920HQ). Im Vergleich zum 12900H bietet der 12700H etwas geringere Taktraten und nur das eingeschränkte "Essentials"-Set von vPro.

Performance

Durch die 14 Kerne sollte die Multithread-Leistung oberhalb der alten Tiger-Lake-8-Kerner liegen und sicher den alten Core i7-11700H schlagen. Bei der Einzelkernperformance dürfte der 12700H auch noch schneller sein, danke der neuen Architektur.

Grafikeinheit

Wie auch der Vorgänger, integriert Intel in Alder Lake eine Intel Xe basierende Grafikeinheit. Beim 12800H sind alle 96 EUs aktiviert und takten mit bis zu 1,4 GHz.

Features

Wie auch Tiger Lake, hat auch Alder-Lake-P WiFi 6E und Thunderbolt 4 (4x) teilintegriert. Der integrierte Speicherkontroller unterstützt DDR5-4800, DDR4-3200, LPDDR5-5200 und LPDDR4x-4267. Der integrierte Gaussian and Neural Accelerator (GNA) ist nun in Version 3.0 verbaut. Die Media Engine Quick Sync 8 ist die selbe wie in Rocket Lake und unterstützt MPEG-2, AVC, VC-1 Decode, JPEG, VP8 Decode, VP9, HEVC und AV1 Decode. Der Chip unterstützt nur PCIe 4.0 (x8 for GPU und zwei x4 für SSDs).

Leistungsaufnahme

Der Intel Core i7-12700H ist mit 45 Watt TDP angegeben (115W PL2). Bei geringer Last, sollte der Stromverbrauch dank der sparsamen Gracemont Kerne sehr gut sein. Gefertigt wird der 12700H im modernen Intel 7 Prozess (10 nm).

AMD Ryzen 7 4800U

Der AMD Ryzen 7 4800U ist ein Mobilprozessor für kleine und leichte Notebooks basierend auf die Renoir Generation. Der SoC beinhaltet acht Zen 2 Kerne (Octa-Core CPU) welche mit bis zu 4,2 GHz getaktet werden (Turbo) und SMT / Hyperthreading (16 Threads) unterstützen. Der Chip wird im modernen 7nm Prozess bei TSMC gefertigt und soll laut AMD eine 2x verbesserte Performance pro Watt bieten als die Ryzen 3000 APUs (z.B. den Ryzen 7 3700U Vorgänger). Im Vergleich zum ähnlich benannten Ryzen 7 4800H, bietet der 4800U einen deutlich geringeren Basistakt und der TDP ist um 30 Watt geringer.

Laut AMD ist der Ryzen 7 4800U um 4% schneller als ein Core i7-1065G7 (Ice Lake) im Einzelkernbenchmark des Cinebench R20 und 90% schneller im Multikernbenchmark. Damit eignet sie sich auch für anspruchsvolle Anforderungen sehr gut. Bei längerer Last, ist jedoch die Performance stark abhängig vom Kühlsystem und den TDP-Settings.

Der SoC integriert neben den acht Prozessorkernen noch eine Radeon RX Vega 8 Grafikkarte mit 8 CUs und bis zu 1750 MHz Takt, einen Dual-Channel DDR4-3200 / LPDDR4-4266 Speicherkontroller und 8 MB Level 3 Cache. Der TDP ist laut AMD von 10 - 25 Watt konfigurierbar (15 Watt Default). Daher ist der Chip auch für kleine und leichte Notebooks geeignet.

AMD Ryzen 3 4300U

Der AMD Ryzen 3 4300U ist ein Mobilprozessor für kleine und leichte Notebooks basierend auf die Renoir Generation. Der SoC beinhaltet vier Zen 2 Kerne (Quad-Core CPU) (ohne SMT/Hyperthreading = 4 Threads) welche mit bis zu 3,7 GHz getaktet werden (Turbo). Der Chip wird im modernen 7nm Prozess bei TSMC gefertigt und soll laut AMD eine 2x verbesserte Performance pro Watt bieten als die Ryzen 3000 APUs (z.B. den Ryzen 3 3300U Vorgänger).

Durch die neuen Zen 2 Kerne und die hohe Taktfrequenz, sollte der Ryzen 3 4300U sich auf dem Niveau des alten Ryzen 5 3500U einreihen. Die schnelleren Ryzen 5 4000er und Ryzen 7 4000er Modelle bieten mehr Kerne und damit auch eine deutlich höhere Multithread-Leistung.
