Der Intel Core i7-1260P ist eine High-End-CPU auf Basis der neuen Alder-Lake-Architektur, die im Januar 2022 vorgestellt wurde. Die CPU basiert auf den Alder Lake-P Chip (für H und P-Serie) und bietet 4 der 6 Performance Kerne (P-Kerne, Golden Cove Architektur) und alle 8 Effizienzkerne (E-Kerne, Gracemont Architektur). Die P-Kerne unterstützten Hyperthreading (daher gemeinsam 16 Threads) und takten von 2,1 bis 4,7 GHz. Die E-Kerne takten von 1,5 - 3,4 GHz und sollen eine vergleichbare Performance wie alte Skylake Kerne bieten (z.B. i7-6300HQ ). Im Vergleich zum Core i7-1270P , bietet der 1260P um 100 MHz geringer getaktete CPU-Kerne und nur vPro "Essentials" Support.
Performance
Durch die 12 Kerne sollte die Multithread-Leistung deutlich oberhalb der alten 28 - 35 Watt 4-Kerner der Tiger Lake Serie liegen. Im Vergleich zu der H-Serie wird bei längerer Last aber der TDP die Leistung limitieren. Bei der Einzelkernperformance sollte der i7-1260P dank der neuen Architektur auch ähnlich schnelle Tiger Lake CPUs abhängen können.
Grafikeinheit
Wie auch der Vorgänger, integriert Intel in Alder Lake eine Intel Xe basierende Grafikeinheit. Beim 1260P sind alle 96 EUs aktiviert und takten mit bis zu 1,4 GHz.
Features
Wie auch Tiger Lake, hat auch Alder-Lake-P WiFi 6E und Thunderbolt 4 (4x) teilintegriert. Der integrierte Speicherkontroller unterstützt DDR5-4800, DDR4-3200, LPDDR5-5200 und LPDDR4x-4267. Der integrierte Gaussian and Neural Accelerator (GNA) ist nun in Version 3.0 verbaut. Die Media Engine Quick Sync 8 ist die selbe wie in Rocket Lake und unterstützt MPEG-2, AVC, VC-1 Decode, JPEG, VP8 Decode, VP9, HEVC und AV1 Decode. Der Chip unterstützt nur PCIe 4.0 (x8 for GPU und zwei x4 für SSDs).
Leistungsaufnahme
Der Intel Core i7-1260P ist mit 28 Watt TDP und 64 Watt (PL2) max. Turbo Power angegeben. Gefertigt wird der Prozessor im modernen Intel 7 Prozess (10 nm).
Intel Core i5-8250U ► remove from comparison
Der Intel Core i5-8250U ist ein sparsamer Quad-Core-SoC für Notebooks und Ultrabooks, der auf der Kaby-Lake-Architektur basiert und Ende August 2017 vorgestellt wurde. Er gehört zur Kaby-Lake-Refresh Generation und ist der direkte Nachfolger des Core i5-7200U bzw. i5-7260U, welche jedoch beide noch Dual-Core Prozessoren waren. Der i5-8250U ist der schwächste Quad-Core der U-Serie und bietet 4 Prozessorkerne mit 1,6 bis 3,4 GHz. Laut Intel erreicht er durch die 2 zusätzlichen Kerne und höhere Turbo Boost Taktraten bis zu 40% mehr Leistung. Die integrierte Grafikkarte hört nun auf den Namen Intel UHD Graphics 620, unterscheidet sich jedoch von der Intel HD Graphics 620 der Vorgänger nicht. Weiters bietet die CPU noch einen integrierten DDR4-2400 / LPDDR3-2133 Dual-Channel-Speichercontroller sowie VP9- und H.265-Videode- und -encoder. Die Fertigung erfolgt weiterhin in einem 14-Nanometer-Prozess mit FinFET-Transistoren (14nm+).
Architektur
Im Vergleich mit Skylake hat Intel die zugrundeliegende Mikroarchitektur praktisch unverändert übernommen, sodass sich keine Unterschiede in der Pro-MHz-Leistung ergeben. Überarbeitet wurde lediglich die Speed-Shift-Technik zur schnelleren dynamischen Anpassung von Spannungen und Taktraten, zudem gestattet der gereifte 14-Nanometer-Prozess deutlich höhere Frequenzen und eine bessere Energieeffizienz als bislang.
Performance
Mit 1,6 bis 3,4 GHz taktet der Core i5-8250U beim maximalen Boost deutlich höher als sein Vorgänger i5-7200U (2,5 - 3,1 GHz). Intel selbst spricht von Performancezuwächsen von bis zu 40%. Durch die beiden zusätzlichen Kerne, sollte dies bei Anwendungen die beide Kerne nutzen können, durchaus möglich sein. Dank des höheren Turbo Boost profitiert aber auch die Einzelkernleistung. Spannend ist jedoch ob und wie lange die Performance gehalten werden kann (Stichwort Throttling). Dies ist stark vom eingesetzten Kühlsystem der Laptops abhängig. Dadurch empfiehlt es sich die Cinebench R15 Leistungsdiagramme über Zeit in unseren Notebooktests zu konsultieren.
Grafikeinheit
Die integrierte Intel UHD Graphics 620 ist laut Intel identisch zur Intel HD Graphics 620 (z.B. im Core i5-7200U). Sie verfügt wie die alte HD Graphics 520 über 24 Ausführungseinheiten (EUs) und taktet etwas höher wie die Vorgängerkarten (300 - 1.100 versus 1.000 MHz). Die Performance hängt stark vom verwendeten Arbeitsspeicher ab; mit schnellem DDR4-2133 im Dual-Channel-Betrieb kann sie sich mit einer dedizerten Nvidia GeForce 920M messen.
Anders als Skylake kann Kaby Lake nun auch H.265/HEVC im Main10-Profil mit 10 Bit Farbtiefe sowie Googles VP9-Codec in Hardware decodieren.
Leistungsaufnahme
Die Fertigung erfolgt weiterhin im verbesserten 14-Nanometer-Prozess (14nm+) mit FinFET-Transistoren. Der TDP ist weiterhin ULV-typisch mit 15 Watt spezifiziert und kann je nach Einsatzzweck zwischen 7,5 und 25 Watt variiert werden.
