Der Intel Core i7-1255U ist eine High-End Notebook-CPU auf Basis der neuen Alder-Lake-Architektur, die im Januar 2022 vorgestellt wurde. Die CPU basiert auf den Alder Lake-M Chip (für die U-Serie) und bietet 2 Performance Kerne (P-Kerne, Golden Cove Architektur) und 8 Effizienzkerne (E-Kerne, Gracemont Architektur). Die P-Kerne unterstützten Hyperthreading (daher gemeinsam 12 Threads) und takten von 1,7 bis 4,7 GHz. Die E-Kerne takten von 1,2 - 3,5 GHz und sollen eine vergleichbare Performance wie alte Skylake Kerne bieten (z.B. i7-6300HQ ). Im Vergleich zum i7-1265U (schnellste U-Serie CPU zum Launch), bietet der 1255U um 100 MHz geringer getaktete CPU Kerne und nur vPro "Essentials" Features.
Performance
Durch die 10 Kerne sollte die Multithread-Leistung deutlich oberhalb der alten 15 Watt 4-Kerner der Tiger Lake Serie liegen (wie z.B. dem i7-1160G7 ). Im Vergleich zu der H-Serie wird bei längerer Last aber der TDP die Leistung limitieren. Bei der Einzelkernperformance sollte der i7 dank der neuen Architektur auch ähnlich hoch getaktete Tiger Lake CPUs abhängen können.
Grafikeinheit
Wie auch der Vorgänger, integriert Intel in Alder Lake eine Intel Xe basierende Grafikeinheit. Beim 1255P sind alle 96 EUs aktiviert und takten mit bis zu 1,25 GHz.
Features
Wie auch Tiger Lake, hat auch Alder-Lake-P WiFi 6E und Thunderbolt 4 (4x) teilintegriert. Der integrierte Speicherkontroller unterstützt DDR5-4800, DDR4-3200, LPDDR5-5200 und LPDDR4x-4267. Der integrierte Gaussian and Neural Accelerator (GNA) ist nun in Version 3.0 verbaut. Die Media Engine Quick Sync 8 ist die selbe wie in Rocket Lake und unterstützt MPEG-2, AVC, VC-1 Decode, JPEG, VP8 Decode, VP9, HEVC und AV1 Decode. Der Chip unterstützt nur PCIe 4.0 (x8 for GPU und zwei x4 für SSDs).
Leistungsaufnahme
Der Intel Core i7-1255U ist mit 15 Watt (PL1) TDP und 55 Watt (PL2) max. Turbo Power angegeben. Gefertigt wird der Prozessor im modernen Intel 7 Prozess (10 nm).
AMD Ryzen 7 4800H ► remove from comparison
Der AMD Ryzen 7 4800H ist ein Mobilprozessor für große Notebooks (z.B. Gaming-Laptops) basierend auf die Renoir Generation. Der SoC beinhaltet acht Zen 2 Kerne (Octa-Core CPU) welche mit bis zu 4,2 GHz getaktet werden (Turbo) und SMT / Hyperthreading (16 Threads) unterstützen. Der Chip wird im modernen 7nm Prozess bei TSMC gefertigt und soll laut AMD eine 2x verbesserte Performance pro Watt bieten als die Ryzen 3000 APUs (z.B. den Ryzen 7 3750H Vorgänger).
Laut AMD ist der Ryzen 7 4800H um 5% schneller als ein 9750H im Einzelkernbenchmark des Cinebench R20 und 46% schneller im Multikernbenchmark. Damit würde sich die CPU zwischen dem Intel Core i9-9880H und 9980HK an der Spitze von mobilen Prozessoren einordnen. Damit eignet sie sich auch für anspruchsvolle Anforderungen sehr gut.
Der SoC integriert neben den acht Prozessorkernen noch eine Radeon RX Vega 7 Grafikkarte mit 7 CUs und bis zu 1600 MHz Takt, einen Dual-Channel DDR4-3200 / LPDDR4-4266 Speicherkontroller und 8 MB Level 3 Cache. Der TDP ist laut AMD von 35 - 54 Watt konfigurierbar (45 Watt Default). Daher ist der Chip für große und schwere Notebooks vorgesehen und benötigt, trotz des effizienten 7nm Herstellungsprozesses, eine gute Kühlung um die Leistung auch dauerhaft zu erbringen.

Der SoC beinhaltet acht Zen 2 Kerne (Octa-Core CPU) welche mit bis zu 3,3 - 4,4 GHz getaktet werden (Turbo) und SMT / Hyperthreading (16 Threads) unterstützen. Der Chip wird im modernen 7nm Prozess bei TSMC gefertigt und soll laut AMD eine 2x verbesserte Performance pro Watt bieten als die Ryzen 3000 APUs (z.B. den Ryzen 7 3750H Vorgänger).
Im Vergleich zum Ryzen 7 4800H , bietet der Ryzen 9 4900H eine 200 MHz (+5%) höhere Turbo-Taktfrequenz und 400 MHz mehr Basistakt. Nach ersten Informationen ist der Geschwindigkeitszuwachs in Notebooks im Vergleich zum 4800H jedoch relativ gering. Hier limitiert wahrscheinlich bereits TDP und die Kühllösung. Im Vergleich zu Intels Mobilprozessoren, sollte der Ryzen 9 4900H sich in vergleichbaren Performanceregionen wie der 9980HK einordnen.
