Der Intel Core i7-1185G7 ist ein sparsamer Quad-Core-SoC für Notebooks und Ultrabooks, der auf der Tiger-Lake-Architektur basiert und im September 2020 vorgestellt wurde. Tiger Lake wird im verbesserten 10nm+-Verfahren (SuperFin genannt) bei Intel gefertigt und nutzt die neuen Willow Cove CPU-Kerne mit einer neuen Mikroarchitektur. Der i7-1185G7 bietet vier Kerne mit 3 GHz Basistakt (bei 28 W TDP, 1,2 GHz bei 12 W) und 4,8 GHz Turbo-Takt (4,3 GHz für alle Kerne). Dadurch liegt die Leistung deutlich oberhalb des alten Ice-Lake basierten Core i7-1065G7 . Zum Zeitpunkt der Vorstellung ist der i7-1185G7 das schnellste Tiger-Lake-Modell. Seit Anfang 2021 unterstützt der i7-1185G7 offiziell vPro.
Eine weitere Neuerung ist die integrierte Intel Iris Xe G7 Grafikkarte (Gen 12) welche eine deutlich höhere Leistung wie die alte Iris Plus G7 in Ice Lake bieten soll. Im 1185G7 bietet die Iris Xe alle 96 EUs bei einem Takt von 400 - 1350 MHz.
Wie bisher wird auch weiterhin WLAN (Wifi 6) und nun auch Thunderbolt 4 / USB 4 und 4 Lanes PCIe 4 im Chip (teil-)integriert für schnellere, günstige und platzsparende Implementierungen in Notebooks.
Der TDP kann bei den UP3 CPUs von 12 - 28 Watt gewählt werden (mit unterschiedlichem Basistakt) und dadurch eignet sich die CPU auch für dünne und leichte Notebooks.

Der Intel Core i7-5500U ist ein sparsamer Dual-Core-Prozessor auf Basis der Broadwell-Architektur, der im Januar 2015 vorgestellt wurde und für schlanke Notebooks und Ultrabooks vorgesehen ist. Neben den zwei CPU-Kernen samt Hyper-Threading, die mit 2,4 bis 3,0 GHz (2 Kerne: max. 2,9 GHz) takten, integriert der Chip auch eine HD Graphics 5500 Grafikeinheit sowie einen Dual-Channel-Speichercontroller (max. DDR3(L)-1600). Die Fertigung erfolgt in einem 14-Nanometer-Prozess mit FinFET-Transistoren.
Vom Core i7-5550U unterscheidet sich der i7-5500U durch seine etwas schwächere GPU sowie eine höhere Basistaktrate der CPU-Kerne.
Architektur
Gemäß Intels Tick-Tock-Schema stellt Broadwell einen sogenannten "Tick", das heißt einen Shrink des Vorgängers Haswell dar. Die neue 14-Nanometer-Fertigung, bereits die zweite Prozessgeneration mit dreidimensionalen FinFET-Transistoren, erlaubt neben Verbesserungen der Energieeffizienz auch einen deutlich kleineren Die (und damit kompaktere Packages und Endgeräte).
Weitere Vorteile ergeben sich aus der überarbeiteten Mikroarchitektur Broadwells. Dank abermals verbesserter Sprungvorhersage, vergrößerten Buffern (1.500 statt 1.000 Einträge im L2 TLB) und anderen Tweaks steigt die Pro-MHz-Leistung um gut 5 Prozent an. Hinzu kommen einige neue Befehlssatzerweiterungen, die jedoch hauptsächlich für Kryptographie-Anwendungen relevant sind.
Performance
Im Vergleich zum direkten Vorgängermodell Core i7-4500U (Haswell) bietet der i7-5500U eine Mehrleistung von etwa 5 bis 15 Prozent, die sowohl aus der verbesserten Mikroarchitektur als auch den insgesamt leicht gestiegenen Taktraten resultiert. Damit ist die Performance in etwa mit einem Core i5-4258U vergleichbar, der jedoch mit einer deutlich höheren TDP von 28 Watt daherkommt.
Neben Office- und Multimedia-Anwendungen bewältigt der Core i7 so auch auch anspruchsvollere Software und Multitasking ohne Probleme.
Grafikeinheit
Die von Intel als HD Graphics 5500 bezeichnete Grafikeinheit verfügt über 24 EUs (Execution Units), die mit 300 bis 950 MHz takten. Dementsprechend erreicht die GPU nur etwa die Hälfte der Rechenleistung der HD Graphics 6000 (48 EUs), die in einigen anderen ULV-Modellen (z. B. Core i7-5550U) verbaut wird. Dank architektonischer Verbesserungen der neuen "Intel Gen 8"-Architektur übertrumpft die HD 5500 jedoch sowohl die HD Graphics 4400 (20 EUs) als auch die HD Graphics 5000 (40 EUs) der Haswell-Generation. Dennoch werden Spiele des Jahres 2015 meist nur in niedrigen Einstellungen flüssig bewältigt.
Broadwell unterstützt als erster Intel-Chip vollständig die DirectX-11.2-API, ebenso OpenCL 1.3/2.0 und OpenGL 4.3. Die Bildausgabe erfolgt über DisplayPort 1.2 und HDMI 1.4a, der neuere HDMI-2.0-Standard fehlt dagegen.
Leistungsaufnahme
Mit einer TDP von 15 Watt (7,5 Watt cTDP Down) liegt die Leistungsaufnahme des Core i7-5500U genau auf dem Niveau der Haswell-basierten Vorgängermodelle. Dadurch eignet sich die CPU auch für schlanke und leichte Note- oder Ultrabooks ab einer Größe von etwa 11 Zoll.
