Die Nvidia T500 Mobile (oder auch Quadro T500 Mobile) für Laptops ist eine professionelle Grafikkarte für Notebooks und mobile Workstations der Einstiegsklasse. Sie basiert auf den selben TU117 Turing-Chip wie die Consumer GeForce MX450 und bietet ebenso 896 Shader und einen 64 Bit Speicherbus. Der Boost-Takt ist jedoch anscheinend etwas höher. Wie auch die MX450 ist sie mit GDDR5 und GDDR6 erhältlich, aktuell gibt es 2 und 4 GB Speichervarianten. Der TDP ist mit 18 - 25 Watt je nach Variante spezifiziert.

Die Quadro-Grafikkarten bieten zertifizierte Treiber, welche auf Stabiltität und Performance bei professionellen Anwendungen (CAD-, DCC-, Medizin-, Prospektions-, Visualisierungsanwendungen) optimiert sind. Dadurch ist die Performance im Vergleich zu den Consumergrafikkarten mit gleichem Chip in diesen Bereichen deutlich besser.

Die kleineren Chips der Turing Serie bietet im Unterschied zu den stärkeren RTX Karten (z.B. Quadro RTX 3000) keine Raytracing und Tensor Kerne. Bei der Turing Architektur gab es auch auf der Ebene der CUDA-Kerne deutliche Verbesserungen. Float und INT Operationen können nun gleichzeitig ausgeführt werden, der Cache wurde vereinheitlicht und verbessert und Adaptive Shading eingeführt. Nvidia spricht dadurch von einer bis zu 50% höheren Leistung pro Kern im Vergleich zu Pascal.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 SLI (Laptop)

Die Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 SLI (Laptop) bezeichnet einen SLI-Verbund aus zwei High-End GeForce GTX 1080 Grafikkarten. Die GPUs nutzen denselben GP104-Chip mit 2.560 CUDA-Kernen wie das Desktop-Modell. Beide Karten rendern jeweils abwechselnd ein Bild (AFR), wodurch sich die Leistung gegenüber einer einzelnen GPU im Optimalfall fast verdoppelt. Der je 8 GB große Grafikspeicher verdoppelt sich durch den Einsatz beider Karten nicht, da jeweils die selben Daten gespeichert werden.

Der GP104-Chip wird in einem 16nm-FinFET-Prozess bei TSMC gefertigt und bietet eine Reihe neuer Features, unter anderem Support für DisplayPort 1.4 (ready), HDMI 2.0b, HDR, Simultaneous Multi-Projection (SMP) sowie verbessertes H.265 Video De- und Encoding (PlayReady 3.0). Die Performance der GTX 1080 SLI ist stark abhängig vom Treibersupport und den Spielen. Im Optimalfall wird die Performance einer einzelnen GTX 1080, wie schon bei den Vorgängern, fast verdoppelt, in anderen Fällen kann der Verbund auch deutlich schlechter oder gar nicht skalieren. Des Weiteren können mehr oder weniger ausgeprägte Mikroruckler die gefühlte Performance beeinträchtigen. Dennoch lassen sich die meisten Spiele des Jahres 2016 in maximalen Einstellungen und 4K-Auflösung flüssig darstellen, was die GTX 1080 SLI zum Zeitpunkt der Vorstellung zur schnellsten Notebook-Grafiklösung auf dem Markt macht.

Im SLI-Verbund verdoppelt sich der Stromverbrauch gegenüber einer einzelnen GTX 1080, sodass beide Karten zusammen wie das Vorgängermodell GTX 980 SLI (Notebook) bis zu 360 Watt aufnehmen können. Aus diesem Grund ist die Grafiklösung nur in sehr großen und schweren Gaming-Notebooks zu finden.

 

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Mobile

Die Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 ist nach den Topmodellen GTX 1080 und GTX 1070 die drittschnellste mobile Pascal-Grafikkarte und wurde im August 2016 vorgestellt. Anders als die beiden schnelleren Modelle basiert die GTX 1060 nicht auf dem GP104-, sondern dem kleineren GP106-Chip.

Die Notebook-Version taktet prinzipiell identisch wie das Desktop-Modell und bietet ebenso die vollen 1.280 Shadereinheiten. Der 6 GB große Arbeitsspeicher ist über ein 192-Bit-Interface angebunden und wird mit einer Frequenz von effektiv 8 GHz angesprochen (192 GB/s).

Für sehr dünne und leichte Notebooks gibt es auch eine Max-Q Variante der GTX1060 mit deutlich reduziertem TDP und auch etwas geringerer Leistung. Leider trägt die Max-Q Variante die selbe GTX 1060 Bezeichnung wie das Notebook- und Desktop-Modell mit voller Leistungsfähigkeit.

Features

Der GP106-Chip wird in einem 16nm-FinFET-Prozess bei TSMC gefertigt und bietet eine Reihe neuer Features, unter anderem Support für DisplayPort 1.4 (ready), HDMI 2.0b, HDR, Simultaneous Multi-Projection (SMP) sowie verbessertes H.265 Video De- und Encoding (PlayReady 3.0). Performance

Die exakte Performance der GeForce GTX 1060 kann sich in Abhängigkeit von der Kühlung des jeweiligen Notebooks stark unterscheiden. Im Optimalfall reicht die Leistung an die des Desktopmodells heran, kann aber auch 10 Prozent und mehr hinter dieses zurückfallen. Die GeForce GTX 980M wird um etwa 30 Prozent übertroffen. Die GTX 1060 ordnet sich damit in der High-End-Klasse mobiler GPUs ein und kann Spiele des Jahres 2016 in hohen Einstellungen und FullHD- oder WQHD-Auflösung flüssig darstellen.

Leistungsaufnahme

Die Leistungsaufnahme der GeForce GTX 1060 liegt laut Nvidia bei 80 Watt TGP und dadurch etwas unterhalb der alten GTX 970M. Dennoch ist die Karte damit nur in größeren Gaming-Notebooks zu finden. Seit Mitte 2017 gibt es auch zwei Stromspar-Varianten (Max-Q) die z.B. nur 60 - 70 Watt TGP verbrauchen sollen. Die Leistung dieser Varianten ist jedoch ebenfalls geringer.
