Die AMD Radeon R7 (Kaveri) ist eine integrierte Grafikeinheit einiger mobiler AMD Kaveri-APUs. Je nach Modell kommt die GPU entweder mit dem Vollausbau von 512 GCN-Shadereinheiten (z. B. FX-7600P) oder aber nur 384 Shadern (z. B. FX-7500) daher. AMD spricht hierbei auch von 8 beziehungsweise 6 Compute Cores. Der maximale Kern- und Speichertakt hängt ebenfalls von der jeweiligen APU ab: So unterstützen die ULV-Modelle maximal DDR3-1600, während die SV-Modelle bis zu DDR3-2133 bieten.

Architektur und Features

Dank der neuen GCN-1.1-Architektur erreicht die GPU eine deutlich höhere Effizienz und Performance im Vergleich zu den VLIW-basierten Vorgängermodellen der Richland- und Trinity-Serie. Außerdem beherrscht die Grafikeinheit nun sowohl DirectX 12 (FL 12_0) als auch die AMD-eigene Mantle-API. Per OpenCL können verschiedene Anwendungen, beispielsweise Adobe Photoshop, zusätzlich beschleunigt werden.

Die überarbeitete Videoeinheit Kaveris beinhaltet den UVD 4.2 (Unified Video Decoder) sowie die VCE 2.0 (Video Codec Engine). Insbesondere im Zusammenhang mit dem H.264-Codec sind einige kleinere Verbesserungen eingeflossen. H.265 wird dagegen noch nicht vollständig in Hardware unterstützt.

Performance

Durch die erheblichen Unterschiede bei Shaderzahl, Kerntaktrate und Speicher-Anbindung kann die Performance der Radeon R7 von Modell zu Modell sehr stark variieren. Während die schnellste Version im FX-7600P je nach Benchmark sogar mit einer dedizierten GeForce GT 740M konkurrieren kann, liegt die langsamere Variante im FX-7500 nur etwa auf dem Niveau einer GeForce GT 720M oder der Intel HD Graphics 5500. Die ULV-Varianten werden zudem oftmals durch den vergleichsweise langsamen CPU-Part ausgebremst.

Je nach Modell können Spiele des Jahres 2014 in niedrigen bis mittleren Einstellungen und 1.024 x 768 oder 1.366 x 768 Pixeln flüssig dargestellt werden.

Leistungsaufnahme

Die Leistungsaufnahme der gesamten Kaveri-APU liegt bei 19 (ULV) beziehungsweise 35 Watt (SV). Damit kann der 28-Nanometer-Chip auch in schlanken bis mittelgroßen Notebooks eingesetzt werden.

Die AMD Radeon R4 (Kaveri) ist eine integrierte Grafikeinheit einiger mobiler AMD Kaveri-APUs. Von den insgesamt 512 GCN-Shadereinheiten des Chips sind nur 192 Shader aktiviert. AMD spricht hierbei auch von 3 Compute Cores. Das einzige bislang offiziell vorgestellte Modell A6 Pro-7050B unterstützt eine Speicheranbindung bis maximal DDR3-1600.

Architektur und Features

Dank der neuen GCN-1.1-Architektur erreicht die GPU eine deutlich höhere Effizienz und Performance im Vergleich zu den VLIW-basierten Vorgängermodellen der Richland- und Trinity-Serie. Dementsprechend können die meisten Spiele des Jahres 2014 höchstens in niedrigen Einstellungen und 1.024 x 768 Pixeln flüssig dargestellt werden.

Leistungsaufnahme

Die Leistungsaufnahme der gesamten Kaveri-APU A6 Pro-7050B liegt bei 17 Watt (TDP). Damit kann der 28-Nanometer-Chip auch in schlanken Subnotebooks eingesetzt werden.
