Der AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX (in Leaks auch als R9 5900H) ist ein Mobilprozessor für große Notebooks (z.B. Gaming Laptops) basierend auf die Cezanne Generation. Der SoC beinhaltet acht Zen 3 Kerne (Octa-Core CPU) welche mit bis zu 4,6 GHz getaktet werden (Turbo) und SMT / Hyperthreading (16 Threads) unterstützen. Der Chip wird im modernen 7nm Prozess bei TSMC gefertigt und soll Anfang 2021 vorgestellt werden. Das X im Namen bezeichnet die Übertaktungsmöglichkeiten der CPU.
Die neue Zen 3 Microarchitektur bringt im Desktop laut AMD eine um 19% höhere IPC (Instructions per Clock) Performance. In Anwendungs-Tests bei gleichem Takt waren es meist gegen 12%, bei Spielen noch deutlich mehr.
In unseren Tests zeigt sich der Ryzen 9 5900HX als einer der schnellsten Mobilprozessoren und auf einem Niveau mit dem Intel 11980HK. Wie stark die Performance ist, hängt aber auch von der Konfiguration im Notebook (TDP) und der Kühlung ab. Besonders bei längeren Lasten wie bei unserem Blender-Benchmark ist dies entscheidend.
Der SoC integriert neben den acht Prozessorkernen noch eine Radeon RX Vega 8 Grafikkarte mit 8 CUs und bis zu 2000 MHz Takt, einen Dual-Channel DDR4-3200 / LPDDR4-4200 Speicherkontroller und 16 MB Level 3 Cache.
Der TDP ist weiterhin von 35 - 54 Watt konfigurierbar (45 Watt Default). Dank Zen 3 Microarchitektur und 7nm Prozess ist der Prozessor in unseren Tests unter Last sehr effizient.
Apple M2 ► remove from comparison
Der Apple M2 ist ein System on a Chip (SoC) von Apple für Notebooks. Apple nutzt den M2 in den Einstiegsgeräten (2022 MacBook Air und 2022 MacBook Pro 13). Er integriert wie der Apple M1 acht Prozessorkerne in zwei Cluster . Vier schnelle Performance-Kerne die nun auf 16 MB L2 Cache zurückgreifen können (M1 bot 12 MB) und mit bis zu 3,480 GHz takten und vier Effizienzkerne mit weiterhin 4MB L2 Cache und bis zu 2,4 GHz. Damit takten sie etwas höher als beim M1 (2,1 bzw. 3,2 GHz). Die Archtektur der Kerne sollte ähnlich zum Apple A15 (iPhone 13) mit Avalanche bzw. Blizzard Kernen sein.
Gemeinsam mit der integrierten 8 bzw. 10-Kern GPU kann die CPU auf bis zu 24 GB Unified Memory (128 Bit LPDDR5) zurückgreifen. Die Bandbreite wurde im Vergleich zum M1 um 50% erhöht auf 100 GB/s.
Laut Apple ist der M2 um 18% schneller bei gleichem Stromverbrauch. Bei unseren Tests erreicht das MacBook Pro 13 mit aktiver Kühlung die beworbenen 18% im Geekbench Multi-Test, in anderen etwas weniger (12-15%). Damit nähert es sich bereits dem M1 Pro mit 8 Kernen. In den Einzelkerntests ist der Vorsprung zum M1 geringer, kann aber z.B. den Ryzen 7 6800U schlagen. Die neuen Alder Lake Spitzen-CPUs (z.B. i7-1260P im Yoga 9i) sind aber schneller - aber auch stromhungriger. Der Core i5-1240P im Galaxy Book 2 Pro 13 mit ähnlichem TDP ist dem Apple M2 deutlich unterlegen. Im passiv gekühlten MacBook Air erwarten wir ähnliche Single-Core Leistungen, bei längeren Multi-Core Tests, wird das Gerät aber wahrscheinlich etwas schlechter abschneiden.
Zusätzlich zu CPU und GPU, integriert Apple auch eine verbesserte Neural Engine (+40% laut Apple) und 8k H.264, HEVC, ProRes-fähige Media Engine. Auch die Secure Enclave wurde verbessert.
Der Chip wird im "second generation" 5nm Prozess bei TSMC gefertigt (wahrscheinlich N5P) und ist weiterhin sehr Energieeffizient. Im Vergleich zum M1 stieg der Stromverbrauch jedoch leicht.
Apple M2 Pro ► remove from comparison
Der Apple M2 Pro ist ein System on a Chip (SoC) von Apple, der im Apple MacBook Pro 14 und 16 aus 2023 verbaut wird. Es integriert alle 12 CPU Kerne von denen vier Stromspar-Kerne sind (E-Cores) und 8 Performance-Kerne (P-Cores). Im Unterschied zum M1 Pro, bietet der M2 Pro zwei mehr E-Cores und größere L2 Caches. Die E-Kerne takten mit maximal 2,4 GHz und die P-Kerne mit bis zu 3,5 GHz (Einzelkern meist 3,5 GHz, Multi-Core meist 3,3 GHz).
Der Chip wird mit 16 GB LPDDR5-6400 Unified Memory ausgeliefert auf die CPU und GPU gleichzeitig zugreifen können und die mit einem schnellen 256 Bit Speicherbus (max. 200 GB/s) angebunden werden.
Die CPU-Performance ist laut Apple um 25% höher als beim M1 Pro (Xcode Kompilieren).
Weiters bietet der Chip eine 16-Kern-Neural-Engine für AI-Beschleunigung, die Secure Enclave, Unified Memory Architecture, ISP und Media De- und Encoder.
Die integrierte Grafikkarte bietet nun ebenfalls mehr Kerne (bis zu 19 Kerne) und soll daher um bis zu 30% schneller sein.
Der Chip wird weiterhin im 5nm Prozess bei TSMC gefertigt (2. Generation laut Apple) und soll sehr energieffizient sein.
