Die CPU ist der Refresh des Ryzen 7 6800U mit 50 MHz höherem Boost-Takt und verringertem Basistakt.
Im Vergleich zum ähnlichen Ryzen 7 7735U , bietet die PRO-Variante eine längere Verfügbarkeit und zusätzliche Security und Management-Features.
Die Rembrandt Refresh APUs bieten weiterhin Support für USB4 mit 40 Gbps, PCI-E Gen 4 und DDR5-4800MT/s bzw LPDDR5-6400MT/s.
Die CPU Leistung sollte sehr vergleichbar mit dem alten Ryzen 7 6800U bei vergleichbaren TDP Setting sein.
Die integrierte Grafikkarte namens Radeon 680M basiert auf die RDNA 2 Architektur und bietet 12 CUs mit bis zu 2,2 GHz Takt bietet.
Der TDP ist mit 28 Watt spezifiziert und damit leicht höher als bei dem R7 6800U (15-25W).

Der SoC beinhaltet acht Zen 2 Kerne (Octa-Core CPU) (ohne SMT/Hyperthreading = 8 Threads) welche mit bis zu 4,1 GHz getaktet werden (Turbo). Der Chip wird im modernen 7nm Prozess bei TSMC gefertigt und soll laut AMD eine 2x verbesserte Performance pro Watt bieten als die Ryzen 3000 APUs (z.B. den Ryzen 5 3500U Vorgänger).
Im Vergleich zum schnelleren Ryzen 7 4800U , bietet der Ryzen 7 4700U einen 100 MHz geringeren Boost-Takt, jedoch einen höheren Basistakt. Dafür können nur 8 Threads gleichzeitig bearbeitet werden (kein SMT). Die Leistung sollte dadurch im Schnitt leicht unterhalb des Ryzen 7 4800U angesiedelt sein (bei gleicher Kühlung und TDP-Einstellungen). Im Cinebench R20 sollte er daher vergleichbar mit dem Intel Core i7-1065G7 sein, und Multithreaded deutlich schneller (siehe AMD Benchmarks des Ryzen 7 4800U ).
