Der I ntel Pentium Silver J5040 ist ein Ende 2019 vorgestellter Quad-Core-SoC, der hauptsächlich in preiswerten Mini-PCs verbaut wird. Er taktet mit 2 bis 3,2 GHz (Einzelkern Burst) und gehört der Gemini-Lake-Plattform an (2019 Refresh). Die Fertigung erfolgt wie beim Vorgänger Apollo Lake in einem 14-Nanometer-Prozesses mit FinFETs. Neben den vier CPU-Kernen integriert der Chip auch eine DirectX-12-fähige Grafikeinheit sowie einen DDR4/LPDDR4-Speichercontroller (Dual-Channel, 2.400 MHz). Der SoC kann nicht ausgetauscht werden, da er direkt mit dem Mainboard verlötet wird (BGA Package).
Im Vergleich zum Vorgänger wurde der Burst-Takt deutlich erhöht. Weiterhin integriert der Chip teilweise WLAN und kann per Wireless-AC9560 mit Companion Module platzsparend mit WLAN ausgestattet werden.
Durch die höhere Taktrate und den höheren TDP ist der Pentium Silver J5040 etwas schneller als die mobile Variante Pentium Silver N5030 . Im Vergleich mit AMD, kann sich der J5040 knapp gegen den Zen basierten Dual Core Athlon Silver 3050e (schneller in Single-Thread, etwas langsamer bei Multi-Thread Tests). Ein Intel Core i3 aus 2019 (wie der i3-1005G1 ) ist in allen Tests deutlich schneller.
Architektur
Die Prozessor-Architektur der Gemini Lake SoCs wurde im Vergleich zum Vorgänger leicht weiterentwickelt. Intel nennt sie nun Goldmont Plus Kerne und verdoppelt den Level 2 Cache von 2 auf 4 MB. Trotzdem sollte die Pro-MHz-Leistung noch deutlich hinter den aktuellen Kaby-Lake Prozessoren bleiben. Beim Gemini-Lake-Refresh wurde hier nichts geändert.
Grafik
Die integrierte UHD Graphics 605 unterscheidet sich nur durch die verbesserten Displayanschlüsse von der HD Graphics 505.
Weiterhin integriert der Chip eine fortschrittliche Videoeinheit, die auch die hardwarebeschleunigte Wiedergabe von VP9- und H.265-Material (8 Bit Farbtiefe) beherrscht.
Leistungsaufnahme
Der gesamte SoC wird von Intel wie der Vorgänger mit einer TDP von 10 Watt spezifiziert und damit etwas höher also die mobile Variante Pentium N5030.

Der Intel Core i7-1195G7 ist ein sparsamer Quad-Core-SoC für Notebooks und Ultrabooks, der auf der Tiger-Lake-Architektur basiert Mitte 2021 als Refresh vorgestellt wurde. Tiger Lake wird im verbesserten 10nm+-Verfahren (SuperFin genannt) bei Intel gefertigt und nutzt die neuen Willow Cove CPU-Kerne mit einer neuen Mikroarchitektur. Der Basistakt liegt zwischen 1,3 GHz (12 Watt TDP) bis 3,9 GHz (28 Watt TDP). Der Turbo kann bis zu 5 GHz erreichen (einzelner Kern mit Turbo Boost 3.0). Alle Kerne können maximal 4,6 GHz erreichen. Zum Zeitpunkt der Vorstellung ist der i7-1195G7 das schnellste Tiger-Lake-Modell.
Die integrierte Intel Iris Xe G7 Grafikkarte (Gen 12) bietet alle 96 EUs bei einem Takt von 400 - 1400 MHz.
Wie bisher wird auch weiterhin WLAN (Wifi 6E) und Thunderbolt 4 / USB 4 und 4 Lanes PCIe 4 im Chip (teil-)integriert für schnellere, günstige und platzsparende Implementierungen in Notebooks.
Der TDP kann bei den UP3 CPUs von 12 - 28 Watt gewählt werden (mit unterschiedlichem Basistakt) und dadurch eignet sich die CPU auch für dünne und leichte Notebooks.

Der Intel Core i7-1185G7 ist ein sparsamer Quad-Core-SoC für Notebooks und Ultrabooks, der auf der Tiger-Lake-Architektur basiert und im September 2020 vorgestellt wurde. Tiger Lake wird im verbesserten 10nm+-Verfahren (SuperFin genannt) bei Intel gefertigt und nutzt die neuen Willow Cove CPU-Kerne mit einer neuen Mikroarchitektur. Der i7-1185G7 bietet vier Kerne mit 3 GHz Basistakt (bei 28 W TDP, 1,2 GHz bei 12 W) und 4,8 GHz Turbo-Takt (4,3 GHz für alle Kerne). Dadurch liegt die Leistung deutlich oberhalb des alten Ice-Lake basierten Core i7-1065G7 . Zum Zeitpunkt der Vorstellung ist der i7-1185G7 das schnellste Tiger-Lake-Modell. Seit Anfang 2021 unterstützt der i7-1185G7 offiziell vPro.
Eine weitere Neuerung ist die integrierte Intel Iris Xe G7 Grafikkarte (Gen 12) welche eine deutlich höhere Leistung wie die alte Iris Plus G7 in Ice Lake bieten soll. Im 1185G7 bietet die Iris Xe alle 96 EUs bei einem Takt von 400 - 1350 MHz.
