Der Intel Pentium Gold 4410Y ist ein extrem sparsamer Dual-Core-SoC für Tablets und passiv gekühlte Notebooks, der auf der Kaby-Lake-Architektur basiert und im Q2 2017 vorgestellt wurde. Er basiert auf den Core m3-7Y30, jedoch ohne Turbo Boost und daher fixen 1,5 GHz Taktfrequenz. Dank Hyper-Threading kann der Prozessor vier Threads gleichzeitig bearbeiten. Weiterhin integriert der Chip eine Intel HD Graphics 615 Grafikkarte, einen Dual-Channel-Speichercontroller (DDR3L/LPDDR3) sowie VP9- und H.265-Videode- und -encoder. Die Fertigung erfolgt weiterhin in einem 14-Nanometer-Prozess mit FinFET-Transistoren.

Architektur

Im Vergleich mit Skylake hat Intel die zugrundeliegende Mikroarchitektur praktisch unverändert übernommen, sodass sich keine Unterschiede in der Pro-MHz-Leistung ergeben. Überarbeitet wurde lediglich die Speed-Shift-Technik zur schnelleren dynamischen Anpassung von Spannungen und Taktraten, zudem gestattet der gereifte 14-Nanometer-Prozess deutlich höhere Frequenzen und eine bessere Energieeffizienz als bislang.

Performance

Der Pentium 4410Y positioniert sich unterhalb der Core-m3 Prozessoren und ist mit 6 Watt TDP auch etwas höher eingestuft (kann jedoch per TDP-down auf 4,5 Watt heruntergestuft werden). Die Leistung ist durch den fehlenden Turbo Boost besonders im Einzelkernbetrieb und bei kurzen Leistungsspitzen spürbar schwächer als der Core m3-7Y30. Der etwas schnellere Pentium 4415Y bietet 100 MHz mehr Taktfrequenz der Prozessorkerne.

Grafikeinheit

Die integrierte Intel HD Graphics 615 Grafikkarte verfügt wie die alte HD Graphics 515 über 24 Ausführungseinheiten (EUs) und taktet in diesem Fall mit 300 bis 850 MHz. Die Performance hängt stark von der eingestellten TDP sowie dem verwendeten Arbeitsspeicher ab; mit schnellem LPDDR3-1866 im Dual-Channel-Betrieb und angehobener Leistungsaufnahme dürfte die GPU gelegentlich an die Leistung der HD Graphics 520 herankommen, kann in anderen Fällen aber auch deutlich langsamer sein. Aktuelle Spiele des Jahres 2016 werden, wenn überhaupt, nur in niedrigsten Einstellungen flüssig dargestellt.

Anders als Skylake kann Kaby Lake nun auch H.265/HEVC im Main10-Profil mit 10 Bit Farbtiefe sowie Googles VP9-Codec in Hardware decodieren.

Leistungsaufnahme

Die Fertigung erfolgt in einem weiter verbesserten 14-Nanometer-Prozess mit FinFET-Transistoren, wodurch die Energieeffizienz nochmals spürbar gestiegen ist. Die TDP ist mit 6 Watt etwas oberhalb der Y-Serie (4,5 Watt) eingestuft, kann jedoch vom Notebookhersteller auf 4,5 Watt abgesenkt werden (TDP-Down).

Intel Core i5-8350U

Der Intel Core i5-8350U ist ein sparsamer Quad-Core-SoC für Notebooks und Ultrabooks, der auf der Kaby-Lake-Architektur basiert und Ende August 2017 vorgestellt wurde. Er gehört zur Kaby-Lake-Refresh Generation und ist der direkte Nachfolger des Core i5-7300U, welcher jedoch noch ein Dual-Core Prozessor ist. Der i5-8350U ist der stärkste Core i5 Quad-Core der Y-Serie (zum Launch Ende 2017) und bietet 4 Prozessorkerne mit 1,7 bis 3,6 GHz. Laut Intel erreicht er durch die 2 zusätzlichen Kerne und höhere Turbo Boost Taktraten bis zu 40% mehr Leistung. Die integrierte Grafikkarte hört nun auf den Namen Intel UHD Graphics 620, unterscheidet sich jedoch von der Intel HD Graphics 620 der Vorgänger nicht. Weiters bietet die CPU noch einen integrierten DDR4-2400 / LPDDR§-2133 Dual-Channel-Speichercontroller sowie VP9- und H.265-Videode- und -encoder. Die Fertigung erfolgt weiterhin in einem 14-Nanometer-Prozess mit FinFET-Transistoren (14nm+).

Architektur

Performance

Mit 1,7 bis 3,6 GHz taktet der Core i5-8350U beim maximalen Boost etwas höher als sein Vorgänger i5-7300U (2,6 - 3,5 GHz). Intel selbst spricht von Performancezuwächsen von bis zu 40%. Durch die beiden zusätzlichen Kerne, sollte dies bei Anwendungen die beide Kerne nutzen können, durchaus möglich sein. Dank des höheren Turbo Boost profitiert aber auch die Einzelkernleistung. Spannend ist jedoch ob und wie lange die Performance gehalten werden kann (Stichwort Throttling). Dies ist stark vom eingesetzten Kühlsystem der Laptops abhängig.

Grafikeinheit

Die integrierte Intel UHD Graphics 620 ist laut Intel identisch zur Intel HD Graphics 620 (z.B. im Core i5-7200U). Sie verfügt wie die alte HD Graphics 520 über 24 Ausführungseinheiten (EUs) und taktet etwas höher wie die Vorgängerkarten (300 - 1.100 versus 1.000 MHz). Die Performance hängt stark vom verwendeten Arbeitsspeicher ab; mit schnellem DDR4-2133 im Dual-Channel-Betrieb kann sie sich mit einer dedizerten Nvidia GeForce 920M messen.

Anders als Skylake kann Kaby Lake nun auch H.265/HEVC im Main10-Profil mit 10 Bit Farbtiefe sowie Googles VP9-Codec in Hardware decodieren.

Intel Core i7-7660U

Der Intel Core i7-7660U ist ein schneller Dual-Core-SoC für Note- und Ultrabooks, der auf der Kaby-Lake-Architektur basiert und Anfang Jänner 2017 vorgestellt wurde. Die CPU integriert 2 Prozessorkerne, die mit 2,5 bis 4 GHz takten (2-Kern-Turbo nur 3,8 GHz). Dank Hyper-Threading kann der Prozessor vier Threads gleichzeitig bearbeiten. Weiterhin integriert der i7-7660U eine Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 Grafikkarte mit 64 MB eDRAM, einen Dual-Channel-Speichercontroller (DDR4) sowie VP9- und H.265-Videode- und -encoder. Die Fertigung erfolgt weiterhin in einem 14-Nanometer-Prozess mit FinFET-Transistoren.

Im Vergleich zum Core i7-7600U, bietet der 7660U einen höheren Single-Core Turbo von 4 GHz (+100 MHz) aber einen geringeren Dual-Core Turbo (-100 MHz). Auch der Basistakt ist geringer (-300 MHz) jedoch kann der CPU Teil auch auf die 64 MB des eDRAM als L5 Cache zurückgreifen.

Mit 2,5 bis 4 GHz taktet der Core i7-7660U etwas geringer (ausser beim Einzelnkern-Turbo) als der Core i7-7600U. Jedoch kann der CPU Teil auch auf die 64 MB eDRAM zurückgreifen, wodurch die Performance vergleichbar sein sollte.

Grafikeinheit

Die integrierte Intel Iris Plus 640 Grafikkarte repräsentiert die "GT3e"-Ausbaustufe der Kaby-Lake-GPU (Intel Gen. 9.5). Die 48 Ausführungseinheiten (EUs) takten mit 300 bis 1.050 MHz und erlauben in Verbindung mit dem schnellen eDRAM-Cache eine Performance auf dem Niveau einer GeForce 920MX. Im Vergleich zur alten Iris Pro 540 gibt es jedoch keine deutlichen Verbesserungen. Aktuelle Spiele können dadurch oft gar nicht flüssig dargestellt werden oder nur in minimalen bzw mittleren Detailstufe.

Anders als Skylake kann Kaby Lake nun auch H.265/HEVC im Main10-Profil mit 10 Bit Farbtiefe sowie Googles VP9-Codec in Hardware decodieren. Die Anfang Jänner eingeführten Dual-Core-Kaby-Lake-Prozessoren sollten außerdem schon HDCP 2.2 beherrschen.

Leistungsaufnahme
