Die Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB ist eine schnelle Desktop-Grafikkarte der Ampere-Generation. Als Nachfolger der Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 bietet das neue Modell nun 12- statt 10 GB VRAM, was mit einem breiteren Speicherinterface und einer gesteigerten Speicherbandbreite wird. Unterm Strich wird das 10-GB-Modell um ca. 3 bis 5 Prozentpunket geschlagen. Die Leistungsaufnahme ist mit maximal 350 Watt höher und somit identisch mit der schnelleren Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti und der Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M SLI

Die NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M SLI ist eine mobile High-End Grafiklösung, welche Mitte 2013 vorgestellt wurde. Sie basiert auf zwei GK106-Chips der Kepler-Serie im SLI-Verbund und wird von TSMC in 28 nm produziert. Beide Grafikkarten berechnen jeweils abwechselnd ein Bild (AFR), wodurch es zu sogenannten Mikrorucklern kommen kann (ungleichmäßige Abstände zwischen den Frames, dadurch spürbare Ruckler trotz flüssiger fps-Raten).

Architektur

Der GK106 verfügt als Kepler-Chip über 5 Shader-Blöcke mit je 192 CUDA Cores, die vom Hersteller mit dem Kürzel SMX bezeichnet werden. Bei der 765M sind davon 4 aktiviert. Zwei SMX bilden zusammen mit zwei Polymorph Engines und einer gemeinsamen Raster Engine einen sogenannten GPC (Graphics Processing Cluster). Da die Shader keine eigene Takt-Domain mehr besitzen (Hot Clock), entspricht die Rechenleistung in etwa der Hälfte der Einheiten der Fermi-Architektur mit doppelter Taktrate. Diese Änderung ist einer der Gründe dafür, dass sich laut Nvidia die Energieeffizienz gegenüber dem Vorgänger verdoppelt hat. Auch die Tesselations-Leistung soll - speziell bei hohen Faktoren - noch einmal deutlich verbessert worden sein.

Leistung

Im optimalen Fall erreicht der GPU-Verbund fast die doppelte Leistung einer einzelnen GeForce GTX 765M. Allerdings wird SLI nicht in jedem Spiel optimal unterstützt, sodass der mittlere Zugewinn mit 70 bis 80 Prozent Mehrleistung etwas niedriger ausfällt. Damit entspricht die Performance in etwa einer einzelnen GeForce GTX 680M (in einigen Fällen sogar etwas schneller) und reicht aus, um auch sehr anspruchsvolle aktuelle Spiele mit höchsten Details in FullHD-Auflösung flüssig darzustellen (Stand 2013). Bis auf wenige Ausnahmefälle wir Crysis 3 bestehen zudem zusätzliche Reserven zur Aktivierung hoher Antialiasing-Stufen.

Features

Das Featureset entspricht dem anderer Kepler-Modelle der GTX-700M-Serie. Bis zu 4 aktive Displays (mit Optimus u.U. weniger) lassen sich mit der GTX 765M betreiben, die mit einer maximalen Auflösung von 3840 x 2160 Pixeln zum Beispiel über DisplayPort 1.2 oder HDMI 1.4a angebunden werden können. HD-Audio-Formate wie Dolby True HD und DTS-HD lassen sich als Bitstream an einen geeigneten Receiver senden. Wie in der Vergangenheit kann jedoch auch weiterhin 3D Vision nicht mit Optimus-Unterstützung kombiniert werden.

Der PureVideo HD Videoprozessor der fünften Generation (VP5) kann die Formate MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264 und VC1/WMV9 bis zu einer Auflösung von 4k decodieren und somit den Prozessor entlasten. Auch zwei parallele Streams, beispielsweise für Picture-in-Picture bei einer Blu-Ray, sind möglich. Eine weitere Neuerung ist die Integration eines dedizierten Videoencoders ähnlich Intels Quick Sync, der über die NVENC-API angesprochen werden kann.

Leistungsaufnahme

Die Leistungsaufnahme des GeForce GTX 765M SLI sollte in etwa zwischen 120 und 130 Watt liegen, dem doppelten Wert einer einzelnen GTX 765M. Dadurch ist der GPU-Verbund nur für DTR-Notebooks mit starker Kühlung geeignet. Bei geringer Last helfen zusätzliche Taktstufen dabei, Energie einzusparen, im Leerlauf kann die GPU mit Hilfe der Optimus-Technologie zugunsten eines IGP auch vollständig deaktiviert werden.

Die Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 A Laptop GPU (oder Mobile) ist eine neue Variante basierend auf die aktuelle Ada Lovelace Architektur (im Vergleich zu Ampere bei den anderen RTX 3050 Laptop GPUs). Sie nutzt den AD106 Chip der RTX 4060 oder AD107 der RTX 4050, jedoch mit deutlich verringerter Kernanzahl und Speicherbus. Die RTX 3050 A bietet nur 1.792 GPU Kerne (CUDA Cores) und ein 4GB GDDR6 Grafikspeicher der nur mit 64-Bit angebunden ist. Nach aktuellen Informationen ist die 3050 A zum Launch nur für den Indischen Markt gedacht.

Durch die geringe Kernanzahl und den kleinen Speicherbus, sollte die Performance nicht deutlich überhalb der alten RTX 3050 4GB Laptop GPU liegen.

Der AD106 Chip wird bei TSMC im 5nm (4N) Verfahren gefertigt und ist dadurch deutlich effizienter als der alte Ampere Chip der RTX 3050 4GB. Der TGP kann vom Notebookhersteller zwischen 35 und 50 Watt gewählt werden (System Power).
