Der AMD Phenom II X3 N830 basiert auf den Desktop Athlon II X3 und besitzt dadurch keinen Level 3 Cache. Ein einzelner 1800MHz 16Bit HyperTransport 3.0 Link bindet den M880 Chipsatz an. 

Die Performance liegt im Bereich des Core 2 Quad Q9000, jedoch ist die Einzelkern-Performance deutlich schlechter (1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo Niveau). Im Vergleich zum ähnlich neuen Core i3-330M bleibt der Phenom II meist dahinter (ausser im Cinebench R11.5).

Der X3 N830 bietet einen integrierten DDR3 Speicherkontroller (maximal DDR-1333) und wird im 45nm SOI Verfahren gefertigt.
