Der Intel Processor N100 ist eine Notebook-CPU der Einstiegsklasse der Alder Lake-N Serie. Er wurde im Januar 2023 vorgestellt und bietet 4 der 8 Effizienzkerne (E-Kerne, Gracemont Architektur) mit 1 GHz bis zu 3,4 GHz. Die E-Kerne unterstützen kein HyperThreading und sollen eine vergleichbare Performance wie alte Skylake Kerne bieten (z.B. i7-6300HQ ).
Performance
Die Performance des N100 ist durch die Halbierung der Kerne deutlich schwächer als beim i3-N305 und etewas unterhalb des N200 (durch die geringere Taktraten). Die Einzelkernperformance ist aber aufgrund der fehlenden P-Kerne in Alder Lake-N eingeschränkt.
Grafikeinheit
Alder Lake-N integriert eine Xe basierende Grafikeinheit mit bis zu 32 EUs (Execution Units). Davon sind im N100 nur 24 aktiviert und takten von 450 - 750 MHz relativ gering. Durch die geringe Kernanzahl, Taktung und die Einschränkung auf Single-Channel-RAM, ist die Spieleleistung aber deutlich eingeschränkt.
Features
Der kleine Alder-Lake-N-Chip integriert teilweise Wi-Fi 6E und Bluetooth 5.2 (im PCH). Der integrierte Speicherkontroller unterstützt Single-Channel DDR4-3200, DDR5-4800 und LPDDR5-4800. Die Media Engine Quick Sync kann nun auch AV1 dekodieren (wie bei Alder Lake). Für die externe Anbindung von Peripherie unterstützt der PCH PCIe Gen3 x9.
Leistungsaufnahme
Der N100 ist nur mit 6 Watt (PL1) TDP spezifiziert und eignet sich daher auch für lüfterlose Systeme. Gefertigt wird der Prozessor im verbesserten Intel 7 Prozess (10 nm SuperFin).
Intel Core i5-8400 ► remove from comparison
Der Intel Core i5-8400 ist eine mit sechs Kernen ausgestattete CPU der Mittelklasse. Der Prozessor der Coffee Lake-Generation wurde im September 2017 vorgestellt und verzichtet auf Hyperthreading, wodurch sechs Threads gleichzeitig bearbeitet werden. Die Grundtaktrate liegt bei 2,8 GHz, in Situationen hoher Last kann die CPU bis auf 4,0 GHz beschleunigen. Trotz neuer Generation setzt der Core i5-8400 auf ein nochmals verbesserten 14-nm-Prozess.
Performance
Durch die zwei zusätzlichen Rechenkerne profitiert die Performance bei Ausnutzung aller Kerne im Vergleich zum Core i5-7400 stark, die Single-Core-Leistung ändert sich nur unwesentlich im Vergleich zum Kaby Lake-Vorgänger. Als Modell der Mittelklasse eignet sich der Core i5-8400 grundsätzlich auch für die Nutzung von anspruchsvollen Videospielen und Programmen.
Grafikeinheit
Die nun als Intel UHD Graphics 630 bezeichnete iGPU soll durch einen um 50 MHz erhöhten Takt eine höhere Performance bieten, der Aufbau ist identisch der Intel HD Graphics 630. Ein Performancevorteil ist zu erwarten, als Low-End-Lösung können aktuelle Videospiele, wenn überhaupt, lediglich in verminderter Detailstufe flüssig wiedergegeben werden.
Leistungsaufnahme
Intel beziffert die Thermal Design Power auf 65 Watt. Entsprechend dimensionierte Kühlsysteme dürften die entstehende Abwärme daher problemlos abführen, aufgrund der höheren Leistung ist eine Effizienzsteigerung zu erwarten.
