Der Apple M2 Pro ist ein System on a Chip (SoC) von Apple, der im Apple MacBook Pro 14 und 16 aus 2023 verbaut wird. Es integriert alle 12 CPU Kerne von denen vier Stromspar-Kerne sind (E-Cores) und 8 Performance-Kerne (P-Cores). Im Unterschied zum M1 Pro, bietet der M2 Pro zwei mehr E-Cores und größere L2 Caches. Die E-Kerne takten mit maximal 2,4 GHz und die P-Kerne mit bis zu 3,5 GHz (Einzelkern meist 3,5 GHz, Multi-Core meist 3,3 GHz).
Der Chip wird mit 16 GB LPDDR5-6400 Unified Memory ausgeliefert auf die CPU und GPU gleichzeitig zugreifen können und die mit einem schnellen 256 Bit Speicherbus (max. 200 GB/s) angebunden werden.
Die CPU-Performance ist laut Apple um 25% höher als beim M1 Pro (Xcode Kompilieren).
Weiters bietet der Chip eine 16-Kern-Neural-Engine für AI-Beschleunigung, die Secure Enclave, Unified Memory Architecture, ISP und Media De- und Encoder.
Die integrierte Grafikkarte bietet nun ebenfalls mehr Kerne (bis zu 19 Kerne) und soll daher um bis zu 30% schneller sein.
Der Chip wird weiterhin im 5nm Prozess bei TSMC gefertigt (2. Generation laut Apple) und soll sehr energieffizient sein.
