Der Apple M2 Max ist ein System on a Chip (SoC) von Apple, der im Apple MacBook Pro 14 und 16 aus 2023 verbaut wird. Es integriert alle 12 CPU Kerne von denen vier Stromspar-Kerne sind (E-Cores) und 8 Performance-Kerne (P-Cores). Im Unterschied zum M1 Max, bietet der M2 Max zwei mehr E-Cores und größere L2 Caches. Die E-Kerne takten mit maximal 2,4 GHz und die P-Kerne mit bis zu 3,7 GHz (Einzelkern meist 3,4 GHz, Multi-Core meist 3,3 GHz).
Der Chip wird mit 32 - 96 GB LPDDR5-6400 Unified Memory ausgeliefert auf die CPU und GPU gleichzeitig zugreifen können und die mit einem schnellen 512 Bit Speicherbus (max. 400 GB/s) angebunden werden.
Die CPU-Performance ist laut Apple um 25% höher als beim M1 Pro / Max (Xcode Kompilieren) und sehr ähnlich zum M2 Pro mit 12 Kernen (nur die geringere Speicherbandbreite kann in manchen Workloads den M1 Pro bremsen).
Weiters bietet der Chip eine 16-Kern-Neural-Engine für AI-Beschleunigung, die Secure Enclave, Unified Memory Architecture, ISP und Media De- und Encoder.
Die integrierte Grafikkarte bietet nun ebenfalls mehr Kerne (30 oder 38 Kerne je nach Konfiguration).
Der Chip wird weiterhin im 5nm Prozess bei TSMC gefertigt (2. Generation laut Apple) und soll sehr energieffizient sein. The Stromverbrauch der CPU ist laut powermetrics bis zu 36 Watt und 89 Watt für den Chip (CPU + GPU Last), wobei die CPU hier auf 25 Watt limitiert wird.
Intel Core i3-1115G4 ► remove from comparison
Der Intel Core i3-1115G4 ist ein sparsamer Dual-Core-SoC für Notebooks und Ultrabooks, der auf der Tiger-Lake-Architektur basiert und im September 2020 vorgestellt wurde. Tiger Lake wird im verbesserten 10nm+-Verfahren (SuperFin genannt) bei Intel gefertigt und nutzt die neuen Willow Cove CPU-Kerne mit einer neuen Mikroarchitektur. Der Intel Core i5-1115G4 bietet zwei Kerne mit Hyperthreading (4 Threads) und 3 GHz Basistakt bis 4,1 GHz Turbo-Takt (auch wenn beide Kerne genutzt werden).
Eine weitere Neuerung ist die integrierte Intel UHD Graphics Xe G4 Grafikkarte (Gen 12) welche eine deutlich höhere Leistung wie die alte Iris Plus G7 in Ice Lake bieten soll. Im 1115G7 bietet die UHD Graphics jedoch nur 48 der 96 EUs bei einem Takt von 400 - 1250 MHz.
Wie bisher wird auch weiterhin WLAN (Wifi 6) und nun auch Thunderbolt 4 / USB 4 und 4 Lanes PCIe 4 im Chip (teil-)integriert für schnellere, günstige und platzsparende Implementierungen in Notebooks.
Der TDP kann bei den UP3 CPUs von 12 - 28 Watt gewählt werden und dadurch eignet sich die CPU auch für dünne und leichte Notebooks.
Intel Core i5-1145G7 ► remove from comparison
Der Intel Core i5-1145G7 ist ein sparsamer Quad-Core-SoC für Notebooks und Ultrabooks, der auf der Tiger-Lake-Architektur basiert und Anfang 2021 vorgestellt wurde. Tiger Lake wird im verbesserten 10nm+-Verfahren bei Intel gefertigt und nutzt die neuen Willow Cove CPU-Kerne mit einer neuen Architektur. Die Basis-Taktraten sind je nach TDP Einstellung unterschiedlich. Bei 12 Watt 1,1 GHz und bei maximalen 28 Watt taktet er mit garantierten 2,6 GHz. Der Boost Takt ist bei allen mit maximal 4,4 GHz spezifiziert.
Eine weitere Neuerung ist die integrierte Intel Xe G7 Grafikkarte (Gen 12) mit 80 EUs und bis zu 1,3 GHz welche eine deutlich höhere Leistung wie die alte Iris Plus G7 in Ice Lake bietet.
Wie bisher wird auch weiterhin WLAN (Wifi 6) und Thunderbolt 4 / USB 4 im Chip teilintegriert für schnellere, günstige und platzsparende Implementierungen in Notebooks. Weiters unterstützt die CPU vPro-Management-Features .
