Die Intel Iris Graphics 5100 (GT3), auch HD Graphics 5100 genannt, ist eine Prozessorgrafikkarte in den CPUs der Haswell-Generation. Zunächst wird die GPU in einigen ULV-Modellen mit 28 Watt TDP eingesetzt. Sie stellt die maximale Ausbaustufe der integrierten Grafikeinheit dar (40 Execution Units), muss im Gegensatz zur Iris Pro (GT3e) aber auf den zusätzlichen eDRAM-Cache verzichten. Abhängig von der Taktrate sowie der Hauptspeicheranbindung kann sich die Performance von Modell zu Modell leicht unterscheiden.
Der Grafikkern wurde im Vergleich zum Intel HD Graphics 4000 der Ivy-Bridge-Generation in verschiedenen Punkten weiterentwickelt. So unterstützt die GPU nun mit DirectX 11.1, OpenCL 1.2 und OpenGL 4.0 alle wichtigen aktuellen Standards. Auch ein verbesserter Decoder für 4K-Videos sowie ein überarbeiteter Quick-Sync-Encoder sind mit an Bord.
Die Performance der Iris Graphics 5100 liegt etwa 20 Prozent oberhalb der HD Graphics 5000, die in den sparsameren ULV-Prozessoren der 15-Watt-Klasse zum Einsatz kommt. Im Optimalfall kommt die IGP damit fast an eine dedizierte GeForce GT 640M LE heran, wohingegen die Performance in einigen anderen Fällen nur auf dem Niveau der GeForce GT 620M liegt. Ursache dafür ist die schmale Hauptspeicheranbindung, die selbst im Dual-Channel-Betrieb die Performance oftmals stark limitiert. Spiele des Jahres 2013 können dadurch zumeist nur in niedrigen bis mittleren Einstellungen bei einer Auflösung von 1.024 x 768 oder 1.366 x 768 Pixeln flüssig wiedergegeben werden.
Der Stromverbrauch ist dank des 22-Nanometer-Prozesses mit Tri-Gate-Transistoren relativ gering und wird dynamisch vom TDP-Budget des gesamten Chips abgezweigt. Die Iris Graphics wird zunächst in einigen Dual-Core-Modellen der 28-Watt-Klasse eingesetzt, beispielsweise dem Core i7-4558U.

Die Intel HD Graphics 620 (GT2) ist eine Prozessorgrafikkarte der im Sommer 2016 vorgestellten Kaby-Lake-Generation. Als Nachfolger der Intel HD Graphics 520 (Skylake) ist die HD 620 dabei in den ULV-Modellen der 15-Watt-Klasse zu finden. Die sogenannte GT2-Ausbaustufe der Kaby-Lake-GPU verfügt über 24 Ausführungseinheiten (EUs) und taktet je nach Modell mit bis zu 1.050 MHz.
Mangels eigenem Grafikspeicher oder eDRAM-Cache greift die HD Graphics 620 über das Interface des Prozessors auf den System-RAM zu (2x 64 Bit DDR3/DDR4).
Performance
Die exakte Leistung der HD Graphics 620 hängt vom jeweiligen CPU-Modell ab, da sich Maximaltaktrate und Größe des L3-Caches leicht unterscheiden können. Zum anderen bestimmt auch der verwendete Speicher (DDR3/DDR4) die Performance. Insgesamt rechnet die HD 620 etwa 20 bis 30 Prozent schneller als ihr Vorgänger HD Graphics 520 und erreicht damit die Performance einer dedizierten Nvidia GeForce 920M. Die meisten Spiele des Jahres 2016 können so in niedrig(st)en Einstellungen flüssig dargestellt werden.
Features - H.265 in Hardware
Anders als Skylake kann Kaby Lake nun auch H.265/HEVC im Main10-Profil mit 10 Bit Farbtiefe sowie Googles VP9-Codec in Hardware decodieren. Die ersten ausgelieferten Kaby-Lake CPUs unterstützen allerdings noch kein HDCP 2.2, was beispielsweise für die Ausgabe von Netflix-Videos in 4K benötigt wird. Dies wurde erst ab 2017 mit den neuen CPUs und ab April mit den alten CPUs (neue Kennung) ermöglicht. HDMI 2.0 unterstützt die HD Graphics 620 jedoch weiterhin nur per Wandler (LSPCon) über den DisplayPort.
Leistungsaufnahme
Die HD Graphics 620 ist in ULV-Prozessoren der 15-Watt-Klasse zu finden und damit für schlanke Note- und Ultrabooks geeignet.
Die Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 (GT3e) ist eine Prozessorgrafikkarte, die im September 2017 vorgestellt wurde. Es handelt sich um den Nachfolger der Iris Plus 650 Graphics und wird in Coffee-Lake-U-CPUs der 28-Watt-Klasse verbaut. Der größte Unterschied zum Vorgänger ist der doppelt so große eDRAM-Cache mit 128 MB. Ansonsten dürfte es aber keine großen Unterschiede geben.
Die sogenannte GT3e-Ausbaustufe der Kaby-Lake-GPU verfügt weiterhin über 48 Execution Units (EUs), die je nach Modell nun mit bis zu 1.200 MHz takten (vorher max. 1.100 MHz). Neben dem eDRAM-Cache kann die Iris 655 auch über das Interface des Prozessors auf den Hauptspeicher zugreifen (2x 64 Bit LPDDR3-2133/DDR4-2400).
Von der Iris Plus 640 der 15-Watt-Modelle unterscheidet sich die Iris 655 lediglich durch ihren etwas höheren Maximaltakt sowie die annähernd verdoppelte TDP, die eine bessere Ausnutzung des Turbo-Boost-Spielraumes erlaubt.
Performance
Die exakte Leistung der Iris Plus Graphics 655 hängt vom jeweiligen CPU-Modell ab, da sich die Maximaltaktrate sowie die Größe des Caches leicht unterscheiden können. Zum anderen beeinflusst auch der verwendete Speicher (DDR3/DDR4) die Performance.
Die höchste Leistung erreichen hochtaktende Core-i7-Ableger wie der Core i7-8559U. Je nach Spiel ordnet sich die Iris Plus 655 vermutlich im Bereich einer dedizierten GeForce 930M oder GeForce 940MX ein und kann aktuelle Titel in niedrigen bis mittleren Einstellungen flüssig darstellen.
Features
Die überarbeitete Videoeinheit dekodiert H.265-/HEVC-Videos vollständig in Hardware. Anders als Skylake kann Kaby Lake nun auch H.265/HEVC im Main10-Profil mit 10 Bit Farbtiefe sowie Googles VP9-Codec in Hardware dekodieren. Die Bildausgabe erfolgt über DP 1.2/eDP 1.3 (max. 3.840 x 2.160 @ 60 Hz), wohingegen HDMI nur in der älteren Version 1.4a angeboten wird. Ein HDMI-2.0-Anschluss kann aber mittels Konverter von DisplayPort ergänzt werden. Maximal lassen sich drei Displays parallel angesteuern.

Die Iris Plus Graphics 655 ist in den Prozessoren der 28-Watt-Klasse zu finden und damit für kleine/mittelgroße Laptops geeignet.
