Die Intel HD Graphics ist eine in den Haswell Prozessoren integrierte Grafikkarte. Sie kommt in den mobilen Celeron- und Pentium-Modellen zu Einsatz. Je nach Prozessormodell kann die HD Graphics (auch GT1 genannt) unterschiedlich getaktet sein (typischerweise 200 MHz Basis- und 1.000 MHz Turbo-Takt). Dies sowie die Geschwindigkeit des angebundenen Arbeitsspeichers beeinflusst die Performance entscheidend.
Der Grafikkern wurde im Vergleich zum Intel HD Graphics 4000 der Ivy-Bridge-Generation in verschiedenen Punkten weiterentwickelt. So unterstützt die GPU nun mit DirectX 11.1, OpenCL 1.2 und OpenGL 4.0 alle wichtigen aktuellen Standards. Auch ein verbesserter Decoder für 4K-Videos sowie ein überarbeiteter Quick-Sync-Encoder (bei vielen Einstiegsmodellen deaktiviert) sind mit an Bord.
Die Performance der HD Graphics (Haswell) liegt durch die Beschneidung auf nur noch 10 EUs deutlich unter der HD Graphics 4400 /4600 und etwa auf dem Level der älteren HD Graphics 3000 oder AMDs Radeon HD 8250 . Nur die wenigsten aktuellen Spiele des Jahres 2013, beispielsweise das sehr anspruchslose Dota 2, können mit niedrigsten Details flüssig dargestellt werden.
Der Stromverbrauch ist dank des 22-Nanometer-Prozesses mit Tri-Gate-Transistoren relativ gering und wird dynamisch vom TDP-Budget des gesamten Chips abgezweigt. Die HD Graphics (Haswell) wird in Dual-Core-Prozessoren der ULV- und regulären 37-Watt-Klasse eingesetzt.

Intel HD Graphics 505 ► remove from comparison
Die Intel HD Graphics 505 ist eine Prozessorgrafikkarte der Mitte 2016 vorgestellten Apollo-Lake-Generation (z.B. Pentium N4200 ). Zwar glänzt die GPU mit einer sehr niedrigen Leistungsaufnahme, allerdings siedelt sich die Performance nur im Low-End-Segment an und ist für neuere Spiele selten ausreichend. Als maximale Ausbaustufe der Apollo-Lake-GPU verfügt die HD Graphics 505 über 18 Execution Units (EUs), die mit bis zu 750 MHz takten. Technisch basiert die GPU auf der Intel-Gen9-Architektur, die auch bei der teureren Skylake-Serie zum Einsatz kommt.
Mangels eigenem Grafikspeicher oder eDRAM-Cache greift die HD Graphics 505 über das Interface des Prozessors auf den System-RAM zu (2x 64 Bit DDR3L-/LPDDR3-1866, LPDDR4-2400).
Performance
Die theoretische Grafikleistung entspricht in etwa der älteren Core-M-Grafikeinheit HD Graphics 5300 . Dadurch sind nur wenige anspruchslose Spiele flüssig spielbar (siehe weiter unten). In unseren Tests erreichte z.B. nur wenige Spiele wie Dirt Rally oder Sims 4 spielbare Frameraten in niedrigsten Detailstufe.
Features
Der überarbeitete Videodecoder decodiert nun auch H.265-/HEVC-Videos vollständig in Hardware und arbeitet dadurch deutlich effizienter als bislang. Die Bildausgabe auf bis zu drei Displays erfolgt über DP/eDP oder HDMI (4K vermutlich nur bei 30 Hz via HDMI 1.4).
Leistungsaufnahme
Die TDP des gesamten Chips liegt beim Pentium N4200 standardmäßig bei 6 Watt, sodass die GPU vor allem in (oftmals passiv gekühlten) Netbooks oder schlanken Notebooks zu finden ist. Optional kann die TDP auch auf 4 Watt abgesenkt werden, wodurch allerdings die Performance sinkt.

Die Intel HD Graphics 5000 (GT3) ist eine Prozessorgrafikkarte in den CPUs der Haswell- Generation. Zunächst wird die GPU in einigen ULV-Modellen mit 15 Watt TDP eingesetzt (z.B. Core i5-4250U ). Sie stellt die maximale Ausbaustufe der integrierten Grafikeinheit dar (40 Execution Units), muss im Gegensatz zur Iris Pro (GT3e) aber auf den zusätzlichen eDRAM-Cache verzichten. Abhängig von der Taktrate (diese fällt bei den 15-Watt-Modellen relativ niedrig aus) sowie der Hauptspeicheranbindung kann sich die Performance von Modell zu Modell leicht unterscheiden.
Der Grafikkern wurde im Vergleich zum Intel HD Graphics 4000 der Ivy-Bridge-Generation in verschiedenen Punkten weiterentwickelt. Die Performance der HD Graphics 5000 liegt im 3DMark 11 um etwa 50 Prozent oberhalb der HD 4000 der Vorgängergeneration. In Spielen fällt die Mehrleistung dagegen deutlich geringer aus: Bei gleichzeitiger Belastung der CPU kann die Grafikeinheit ihren starken Turbo-Boost nur sehr eingeschränkt ausschöpfen, da die niedrige TDP der ULV-Modelle (15 Watt) zu limitieren beginnt. Obwohl die HD 5000 mit 40 Execution Units (EUs) doppelt so viele Ausführungseinheiten wie die HD Graphics 4600 besitzt (HD 4000 : 16 EUs), ist die Grafikleistung darum dennoch etwas schwächer. Unterm Strich liegt die HD 5000 damit knapp hinter AMDs Radeon HD 7660G und auf dem Niveau einer dedizierte Radeon HD 7650M . Aktuelle 3D-Spiele (Stand 2013) können in niedrigen, seltener auch mittleren Einstellungen flüssig dargestellt werden.
