Die Intel HD Graphics 6000 (GT3) ist eine Prozessorgrafikkarte in den CPUs der Broadwell-Generation. Die GPU wird in einigen ULV-Modellen (15 Watt) der Core-i5- und Core-i7-Serie verbaut (z.B. Core i5-5250U, Core i7-5650U) und verfügt über 48 EUs. Die maximale Turbo-Taktrate der Grafikkarte hängt vom konkreten Modell ab und liegt zwischen 950 und 1.000 MHz.

Architektur und Features

Broadwell integriert eine Grafikeinheit auf Basis der Intel-Gen8-Architektur, die gegenüber dem Vorgänger Intel Gen7.5 (Haswell) in verschiedenen Punkten weiterentwickelt wurde. So hat Intel unter anderem die "Subslice" genannten Shader-Arrays umorganisiert, die nun jeweils 8 Execution Units (EUs) beinhalten. Drei Subslices bilden wiederum einen Slice mit insgesamt 24 EUs. Hinzu kommen größere L1-Caches und Verbesserungen im Front-End, die die Leistung zusätzlich steigern sollen.

Die HD Graphics 6000 repräsentiert die größte, auch "GT3" bezeichnete Ausbaustufe mit zwei Slices und dementsprechend 48 EUs. Daneben existieren auch noch die kleineren GT1- (12 EUs) und GT2-Varianten (24 EUs) sowie die High-End-Version GT3e (48 EUs + eDRAM-Cache).

Alle Broadwell-GPUs unterstützen OpenCL 2.0 sowie DirectX 12 (FL 11_1). Zudem kann der Videodecoder nun auch den H.265-Codec verarbeiten, greift dafür allerdings nur teilweise auf besonders sparsame Fixed-Function-Einheiten zurück. Die Bildausgabe erfolgt über DP 1.2/eDP 1.3 (max. 3.840 x 2.160 @ 60 Hz) oder HDMI 1.4a (max. 3.840 x 2.160 @ 24 Hz), HDMI 2.0 steht dagegen nicht zur Verfügung. Es können maximal drei Displays parallel angesteuert werden.

Performance

Je nach Modell liegt der maximale GPU-Takt zwischen 950 und 1.000 MHz, der aufgrund der niedrigen TDP jedoch nicht immer vollständig ausgeschöpft werden kann. In 3D-Anwendungen und Spielen übertrifft die HD 6000 die ältere HD Graphics 5000 (Haswell) um etwa 20 - 25 Prozent, was auch dem verbesserten Speicher-Support bis LPDDR3-1866 zu verdanken ist. Insgesamt sehen wir die HD Graphics 6000 knapp unter dem Niveau einer dedizierten GeForce 820M, weshalb Spiele des Jahres 2014/2015 meist nur in sehr niedrigen Einstellungen flüssig bewältigt werden.

Leistungsaufnahme

Die TDP des gesamten Chips liegt standardmäßig bei 15 Watt, sodass die HD Graphics 6000 vor allem in kompakten Ultrabooks zu finden ist. Bei Bedarf kann die TDP auch auf 9,5 Watt abgesenkt werden, was sich jedoch negativ auf die Leistungsfähigkeit auswirkt.

AMD Radeon R7 (Bristol Ridge)

Die AMD Radeon R7 (Bristol Ridge) ist eine integrierte Grafikeinheit der schnellsten mobiler AMD Carrizo-APUs. Zum Launch kommt die R7 z.B. im Topmodell FX-9830P mit 512 GCN-Shadereinheiten und 900 MHz Grafiktaktrate zum Einsatz. Technisch unterscheidet sich die GPU nicht von der AMD Radeon R7 in Carrizo, jedoch wird sie um bis zu 100 MHz höher getaktet. Je nach verbauter Kühllösung und damit konfiguriertem TDP (12-45 Watt) kann die Leistung sich deutlich unterscheiden.  Ausserdem hängt die Leistung stark vom verbauten Hauptspeicher ab (beste Leistung mit Dual-Channel DDR4).

Architektur und Features

Die Radeon R7 bietet laut AMD acht Kerne der dritten GCN Generation (in der Presse oft als GCN 1.2 oder 2.0 bezeichnet). Damit ist sie sehr ähnlich zu dem Tonga Desktop Chip und bietet DirectX 12 (FL 12_0) Hardware-Support. Weiters können auch per Mantle, OpenGL und OpenCL die Grafikkerne angesprochen werden. Außerdem unterstützt die Grafikkarte den HSA 1.0 Standard und kann damit effizient in Verbindung mit den CPU Kernen genutzt werden.

Im Vergleich zur Kaveri-Generation (Kaveri R7 mit GCN 1.1) verhilft vor Allem die neue Farbkomprimierung für eine bessere Speicherausnutzung und führt dadurch zu einer 5-7% höheren Performance in Spielen.

Die überarbeitete Videoeinheit Carrizos/Bristol Ridge beinhaltet den UVD 6 (Unified Video Decoder) welcher erstmals HVEC / H.265 und 4K vollständig in Hardware dekodieren kann. Auch die VCE (Video Codec Engine) wurde überarbeitet, und kann nun mit einer höheren Leistung aufwarten (bei H.264). Mehr Details dazu finden Sie in unserem Bristol Ridge Architekturartikel.

Performance

Durch den konfigurierbaren TDP der Kaveri Chips von 12 bis 45 Watt können erhebliche Leistungsunterschiede bei Spielen entstehen. Insgesamt sind leicht bessere Ergebnisse als bei der Carrizo Radeon R7 durch den höheren Takt bei vergleichbaren Modellen zu erwarten. Generell kann man jedoch die Kaveri R7 Seite für eine Performanceeinschätzung und Spieleleistung nutzen.

Leistungsaufnahme

Je nach konfiguriertem TDP (cTDP) ist der in 28nm gefertigte Chip mit 12 bis 45 Watt spezifiziert. Damit eignet er sich sowohl für den Einsatz in schlanken und leichten Notebooks als auch mittelgroßen Geräten oder All in Ones (AiO).

Die AMD Radeon R5 (Stoney Ridge) ist eine integrierte Grafikeinheit der schwächeren mobilen Dual-Core Stoney-Ridge-APUs. Sie kommt zum Launch im AMD A9-9410 zum Einsatz und bietet 3 aktive Compute Cores (384 Shader). Je nach Modell beträgt die maximale Taktung 800 MHz. Je nach konfigurierter TDP und eingesetztem Hauptspeicher kann die Leistung deutlich variieren. Im Vergleich zur Radeon R5 der Bristol Ridge Serie, bietet sie nur 3 statt der 6 GCN Kerne (und ist die Vollaustattung der Stoney Ridge Chips).

Architektur und Features

Die Radeon R5 bietet drei Kerne der dritten GCN Generation (in der Presse oft als GCN 1.2 oder 2.0 bezeichnet). Damit ist sie sehr ähnlich zu dem Tonga Desktop Chip und bietet DirectX 12 (FL 12_0) Hardware-Support. Weiters können auch per Mantle, OpenGL und OpenCL die Grafikkerne angesprochen werden. Außerdem unterstützt die Grafikkarte den HSA 1.0 Standard und kann damit effizient in Verbindung mit den CPU Kernen genutzt werden. Technisch entspricht die GPU exakt dem Vorgänger Carrizo.
