Die Intel HD Graphics 4200 (GT2) ist eine Low-End Prozessorgrafikkarte in einigen besonders sparsamen ULV-CPUs der Haswell- Generation.
Der Grafikkern wurde im Vergleich zum Intel HD Graphics 4000 der Ivy-Bridge-Generation in verschiedenen Punkten weiterentwickelt. So unterstützt die GPU nun mit DirectX 11.1, OpenCL 1.2 und OpenGL 4.0 alle wichtigen aktuellen Standards. Auch ein verbesserter Decoder für 4K-Videos sowie ein überarbeiteter Quick-Sync-Encoder sind mit an Bord.
Die Performance der HD Graphics 4200 liegt im Schnitt noch deutlich unter der HD 4600 und HD 4400 , da die GPU für ULV-Modelle der Y-Serie (11,5 Watt TDP) mit sehr niedriger Taktrate vorgesehen ist. Insgesamt entspricht die Leistung trotz der geringeren Kernfrequenz in etwa der HD 4000 der Ivy-Bridge-Generation. Neben architektonischen Verbesserungen wird dies vor allem über eine gesteigerte Zahl an Ausführungseinheiten erreicht: Die GT2-Ausbaustufe integriert nun 20 (HD 4000: 16) der sogenannten EUs.
In einfachen Spielen wie Anno 2070 oder Counter Strike: Global Offensive genügt die Performance, um niedrige Einstellungen und 1.024 x 768 Pixel zu bewältigen. Viele aktuelle Titel wie Battlefield 4 sind hingegen selbst bei minimaler grafischer Qualität nicht flüssig spielbar. Detaillierte Benchmarks können sie weiter unten auf dieser Seite finden.
Der Stromverbrauch ist dank des 22-Nanometer-Prozesses mit Tri-Gate-Transistoren relativ gering und wird dynamisch vom TDP-Budget des gesamten Chips abgezweigt. Zusätzlich zur TDP von 11,5 Watt gibt Intel auch eine durchschnittliche Leistungsaufnahme (SDP) an, die je nach Modell bei 4,5 oder 6 Watt liegt.

AMD Radeon R2 (Stoney Ridge) ► remove from comparison
Die AMD Radeon R2 (Stoney Ridge) ist eine integrierte Grafikeinheit der schwächsten mobilen Stoney-Rdige-APUs. Sie kommt zum Launch im AMD E2-9010 zum Einsatz und bietet wahrscheinlich 128 Shader bei 600 MHz. Je nach konfigurierter TDP und eingesetztem Hauptspeicher kann die Leistung deutlich variieren.
Architektur und Features
Die Radeon R4 bietet zwei Kerne der dritten GCN Generation (in der Presse oft als GCN 1.2 oder 2.0 bezeichnet). Damit ist sie sehr ähnlich zu dem Tonga Desktop Chip und bietet DirectX 12 (FL 12_0) Hardware-Support. Weiters können auch per Mantle, OpenGL und OpenCL die Grafikkerne angesprochen werden. Außerdem unterstützt die Grafikkarte den HSA 1.0 Standard und kann damit effizient in Verbindung mit den CPU Kernen genutzt werden. Technisch entspricht die GPU exakt dem Vorgänger Carrizo.

Leistungsaufnahme
Je nach Modell und konfigurierter TDP (cTDP) ist der in 28 nm gefertigte Chip mit 10 bis 15 Watt spezifiziert. Damit eignet er sich für den Einsatz in schlanken und leichten Notebooks.

Die AMD Radeon R7 (Bristol Ridge) ist eine integrierte Grafikeinheit der schnellsten mobiler AMD Carrizo-APUs. Zum Launch kommt die R7 z.B. im Topmodell FX-9830P mit 512 GCN-Shadereinheiten und 900 MHz Grafiktaktrate zum Einsatz. Technisch unterscheidet sich die GPU nicht von der AMD Radeon R7 in Carrizo, jedoch wird sie um bis zu 100 MHz höher getaktet. Je nach verbauter Kühllösung und damit konfiguriertem TDP (12-45 Watt) kann die Leistung sich deutlich unterscheiden. Ausserdem hängt die Leistung stark vom verbauten Hauptspeicher ab (beste Leistung mit Dual-Channel DDR4).

Im Vergleich zur Kaveri-Generation (Kaveri R7 mit GCN 1.1 ) verhilft vor Allem die neue Farbkomprimierung für eine bessere Speicherausnutzung und führt dadurch zu einer 5-7% höheren Performance in Spielen.
Die überarbeitete Videoeinheit Carrizos/Bristol Ridge beinhaltet den UVD 6 (Unified Video Decoder) welcher erstmals HVEC / H.265 und 4K vollständig in Hardware dekodieren kann. Performance
Durch den konfigurierbaren TDP der Kaveri Chips von 12 bis 45 Watt können erhebliche Leistungsunterschiede bei Spielen entstehen. Insgesamt sind leicht bessere Ergebnisse als bei der Carrizo Radeon R7 durch den höheren Takt bei vergleichbaren Modellen zu erwarten. Generell kann man jedoch die Kaveri R7 Seite für eine Performanceeinschätzung und Spieleleistung nutzen.
