Die Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 ist eine High-End Desktop-Grafikkarte basierend auf der Maxwell-Architektur in 28 nm. Genau wie die noch schnellere GTX 980 nutzt die GTX 970 den GM204-Chip, der in diesem Fall jedoch auf 1.664 Shader-Einheiten und 104 TMUs beschnitten wurde (GTX 980: 2.048 Shader, 128 TMUs). Die Speicherausstattung ist mit 4 GB GDDR5 (7 GHz Effektivtakt) an einem 256-Bit-Interface nominell identisch.
Aufgrund der Teildeaktivierung des Chips ergeben sich jedoch einige Besonderheiten, die unter gewissen Umständen die Performance mindern können. So teilt sich der 4 GB große Speicher in ein 3,5 GB großes Segment mit 224-Bit-Anbindung sowie einen sehr viel langsameren 512-MB-Block auf, der lediglich über ein 32-Bit-Interface angesprochen wird. Dieser 512-MB-Block ist in der Praxis deshalb nur bedingt nutzbar und wird vom Treiber nach Möglichkeit nicht verwendet. Dennoch treten in einigen extrem speicherhungrigen Spielen Probleme auf, die sich in kurzen Rucklern oder gar starken Einbrüchen der Framerate äußern.
Abseits dieser, derzeit nur in sehr wenigen Fällen relevanten Problematik bewegt sich die Performance der GTX 970 in etwa auf dem Niveau der älteren GeForce GTX 780 Ti oder einer Radeon R9 290X .
Als Features werden CUDA, 3D Vision, PhysX, GeForce Experience, Surround, GameStream, GPU Boost 2.0, Adaptive Vertical Sync/ G-SYNC, SLI, DSR, MFAA und Virtual Reality Latenzverbesserungen unterstützt.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU ► remove from comparison
Die Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU oder 3070 Mobile (für Laptops, GN20-E5, Max-P / Max-Q) ist Anfang 2021 die zweit-schnellste Grafikkarte für Notebooks. Sie basiert auf den GA104-770-A1 Ampere Chip und bietet 8 GB GDDR6 Grafikspeicher mit einem 256 Bit Grafikbus (mit 12 oder 14 Gbps). Sie unterstützt PCIe 4.0 und soll in zwei verschiedenen Varianten mit 80, 90, 115 bzw. 125 Watt (TGP) verfügbar sein. Als Package nutzt die Notebook-Grafikkarte GB5-256 und die Chipgröße soll 40x40mm betragen. Die GPU unterstützt eDP 1.4b zum Anschluss des internen Monitors.
Es gibt nun keine Max-Q Variante mehr (die 80 - 90 Watt Versionen heissen auch nur "Laptop GPU"), aber jede TGP-Version kann die Max-Q Technologien nutzen (Dynamic Boost, Whispermode).
Die Leistung ist abhängig von der TGP-Variante und der verwendeten Kühlung. Im Schnitt sollte sie etwa auf dem Level einer alten RTX 2080 Super Mobile liegen. Dadurch reicht die Leistung bei den meisten anspruchsvollen Spielen auch für 4k mit maximalen Details. Bei 1080p sind auch Frameraten über 100 fps möglich.
Der GA104 Chip bietet 6144 FP32 ALUs wovon die Hälfte auch INT32 Befehle ausführen können (also 3072 INT32 ALUs). Bei Turing konnten noch alle Shader FP32 oder INT32 ausführen. Die Raytracing und Tensor Kerne auf dem Chip wurden laut Nvidia ebenfalls verbessert. Die RTX 3070 nutzt 5120 der 6144 Kerne. Weiters integriert der Ampere Chip einen Hardware Video-Encoder (NVENC 5. Generation für H.264 und H.265) und Decoder (7. Generation für zahlreiche Formate inklusive AV1).
Der GA104 Chip wird bei Samsung im 8nm (8N) Verfahren welches mit dem 7nm Verfahren von TSMC nicht ganz mithalten kann (z.B. von AMD genutzt, aber auch für den professionellen GA100 Ampere Chip).
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 4GB Laptop GPU ► remove from comparison
Die Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU (oder Mobile, NVIDIA_DEV.2583, GN20-P0) ist die kleinste Variante der RTX 3000 Serie und basiert auf den GA107 Ampere Chip. Sie bietet 2048 CUDA-, 16 Raytracing und 64 Tensor-Kerne. Der Speicherbus ist mit 128 Bit spezifiziert für maximal 4 GB GDDR6 Grafikspeicher. Die schnellere RTX 3050 Ti bietet 25% mehr Kerne bei ähnlichen Taktraten und gleichem spezifizierten Stromverbrauch. Anfang 2023 gab es einen Refresh der RTX 3050 mit 6GB VRAM , reduziertem Speicherbus und wahrscheinlich höheren Kernzahl.
Wie üblich wird es verschiedene Varianten mit einem TGP von 35 - 50 (ehemals Max-Q) und 60 - 80 Watt geben. Diese takten von 713 - 1530 (Basistakt) bis 1058 - 1740 (Boost) und bieten dementsprechend eine unterschiedliche Performance.

Die durchschnittliche Leistung liegt etwas unterhalb der alten GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q . Diese kann jedoch deutlich variieren je nach TGP Variante. Dadurch eignet sich die GPU am Besten für Full HD mit hohen Details. Für Raytracing Effekte reicht die Leistung kaum aus, jedoch können die Tensor-Kerne via DLSS in manchen Spielen zu einer höheren Leistung helfen.
Der GA107 Chip bietet 3.072 FP32 ALUs wovon die Hälfte auch INT32 Befehle ausführen können (also 1.536 INT32 ALUs). Bei Turing konnten noch alle Shader FP32 oder INT32 ausführen.
