Die Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Super für Desktops ist eine Einstiegs-Gaming-Grafikkarte basierend auf der Turing Architektur. Der TU116 getaufte Chip und wurde im November 2019 vorgestellt. Die GTX 1650 Serie bietet im Unterschied zu den stärkeren RTX 2000er Karten (z.B. RTX 2060) keine Raytracing und Tensor Kerne. Die Leistung ist etwas besser als bei der GeForce GTX 1650 und Vergleichbar mit der AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT. 

Bei der Turing Architektur gab es auch auf der Ebene der CUDA-Kerne deutliche Verbesserungen. Float und INT Operationen können nun gleichzeitig ausgeführt werden, der Cache wurde vereinheitlicht und verbessert und Adaptive Shading eingeführt. Nvidia spricht dadurch von einer bis zu 50% höheren Leistung pro Kern im Vergleich zu Pascal.

Von den Vorteilen des TU116 Chips profitiert die neue Einsteigerkarte, denn die neuere NVENC Videokodierung liefert im Vergleich zu Pascal mehr Performance.

Nvidia spezifiziert einen Stromverbrauch von 100 Watt TGP (Total Graphics Power) für die Grafikkarte. Der TU11 Chip wird bei TSMC im 12nm FFN Verfahren gefertigt.

Die Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU (oder Mobile, NVIDIA_DEV.2583, GN20-P0) ist die kleinste Variante der RTX 3000 Serie und basiert auf den GA107 Ampere Chip. Sie bietet 2048 CUDA-, 16 Raytracing und 64 Tensor-Kerne. Der Speicherbus ist mit 128 Bit spezifiziert für maximal 4 GB GDDR6 Grafikspeicher. Die schnellere RTX 3050 Ti bietet 25% mehr Kerne bei ähnlichen Taktraten und gleichem spezifizierten Stromverbrauch. Anfang 2023 gab es einen Refresh der RTX 3050 mit 6GB VRAM, reduziertem Speicherbus und wahrscheinlich höheren Kernzahl.

Wie üblich wird es verschiedene Varianten mit einem TGP von 35 - 50 (ehemals Max-Q) und 60 - 80 Watt geben. Diese takten von 713 - 1530 (Basistakt) bis 1058 - 1740 (Boost) und bieten dementsprechend eine unterschiedliche Performance.

Die durchschnittliche Leistung liegt etwas unterhalb der alten GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q. Diese kann jedoch deutlich variieren je nach TGP Variante. Dadurch eignet sich die GPU am Besten für Full HD mit hohen Details. Für Raytracing Effekte reicht die Leistung kaum aus, jedoch können die Tensor-Kerne via DLSS in manchen Spielen zu einer höheren Leistung helfen.

Der GA107 Chip bietet 3.072 FP32 ALUs wovon die Hälfte auch INT32 Befehle ausführen können (also 1.536 INT32 ALUs). Bei Turing konnten noch alle Shader FP32 oder INT32 ausführen. Die Raytracing und Tensor Kerne auf dem Chip wurden laut Nvidia ebenfalls verbessert. Weiters integriert der Ampere Chip einen Hardware Video-Encoder (NVENC 5. Generation für H.264 und H.265) und Decoder (7. Generation für zahlreiche Formate inklusive AV1).

Der GA107 Chip wird bei Samsung im 8nm (8N) Verfahren welches mit dem 7nm Verfahren von TSMC nicht ganz mithalten kann (z.B. von AMD genutzt, aber auch für den professionellen GA100 Ampere Chip).

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super (Desktop)

Die Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Super ist eine schnelle Mittelklasse-Grafikkarte für Desktops und basiert auf der Turing-Architektur. Die GTX 1660 Super verwendet den TU116 Chip welcher auch bei der GeForce GTX 1660 Ti und der GeForce GTX 1660 zum Einsatz kommt. Die GeForce GTX 1660 Super bietet 1.408 Shader-Einheiten, 48 ROPs, 88 TMUs und einen 192 Bit Speicherbus für den 6 GB großen GDDR6 VRAM (1,75 GHz Taktrate, 14  GHz effektiv führen zu 336 GB/s).

Features

Der TU116-Chip wird ebenfalls, wie auch die anderen Turing-GPUs, in 12nm gefertigt. Allerdings bietet die GeForce GTX 1660 Super nicht die neuen Features, wie DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) und Real Time Ray Tracing. Trotzdem gab es im Bereich der Architektur Verbesserungen, wie Zum Beispiel bei den Float und INT Operationen. Diese können nun gleichzeitig ausgeführt werden und der Cache wurde vereinheitlicht Adaptive Shading eingeführt. Weiterhin gibt es Support für DisplayPort 1.4 (ready), HDMI 2.0b, HDR, Simultaneous Multi-Projection (SMP) sowie H.265 Video De- und Encoding (PlayReady 3.0). 

Performance

Die Performance der GeForce GTX 1660 Super ist in Full HD und maximalen Detailstufe etwas besser als eine eine GeForce GTX 1660, aber deutlich langsamer als eine GeForce GTX 1070. Dadurch eignet sie sich bei anspruchsvollen Spielen am besten für FullHD-Gaming mit vollen Details bzw. für WQHD (1.440p) bei weniger anspruchsvollen Spielen.

Leistungsaufnahme

Die Leistungsaufnahme der GeForce GTX 1660 Super wird vom Hersteller mit 125 Watt beziffert und liegt damit sogar über der GeForce GTX 1660 Ti.
