Die Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 mit Max-Q Design ist eine mobile High-End-GPU der Pascal-Serie. Sie ist gedacht für dünne und leichte Notebook und je nach Kühlungsdesign etwa 10-15% langsamer als eine normale GTX 1070 für Laptops . Der Basistakt liegt mit 1101 - 1215 MHz deutlich unterhalb der normalen GTX 1070 (1433 MHz -10%) und auch der Boost erreicht mit 1265 - 1379 MHz (mind. -6%) bei weitem nicht die 1645 MHz der regulären GTX 1070. Der Speichertakt ist jedoch gleich.
Im Vergleich zur normalen GTX 1070 gibt es noch weitere Unterschiede als den Takt. Der Treiber wurde auf Effizienz (und nicht Leistung) optimiert (nur für die Max-Q Modelle), optimierte Spannungswandler für 1V Betreib, high-end Kühlungsmethoden und eine 40 dB Grenze für die Lüfterlautstärke (mit Taktanpasssungen um dies jederzeit zu gewährleisten) zeichnen die Max-Q Variante aus.

Der GP104-Chip wird in einem 16nm-FinFET-Prozess bei TSMC gefertigt und bietet eine Reihe neuer Features, unter anderem Support für DisplayPort 1.4 (ready), HDMI 2.0b, HDR, Simultaneous Multi-Projection (SMP) sowie verbessertes H.265 Video De- und Encoding (PlayReady 3.0). Die Nvidia Quadro RTX 5000 mit Max-Q Design ist eine professionelle Grafikkarte für große und schwere Laptops. Sie basiert auf die normale (Max-P) Quadro RTX 5000 für Laptops jedoch mit reduzierten Taktraten und dadurch geringere Leistung bei weniger Stromverbrauch und höherer Effizienz. Nach unseren Informationen gibt es drei Varianten mit 80, 85 und 90 Watt TGP Stromverbrauch und damit bis zu 27% weniger (RTX5000 ist auf 110 Watt spezifiziert). Die Performance kann dadurch auch um bis zu 24% schlechter ausfallen (Boost-Takt-Unterschied).

Die Quadro-Grafikkarten bieten zertifizierte Treiber , welche auf Stabiltität und Performance bei professionellen Anwendungen (CAD-, DCC-, Medizin-, Prospektions-, Visualisierungsanwendungen) optimiert sind. Dadurch ist die Performance im Vergleich zu den Consumergrafikkarten mit gleichem Chip in diesen Bereichen deutlich besser.
Features
Der TU104-Chip wird in 12nm gefertigt und bietet eine Reihe neuer Features, wie DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) und Real Time Ray Tracing. Dadurch lassen sich vor allem Beleuchtungseffekte sehr viel realistischer darstellen. Weiterhin gibt es Support für DisplayPort 1.4 (ready), HDMI 2.0b, HDR, Simultaneous Multi-Projection (SMP) sowie H.265 Video De- und Encoding (PlayReady 3.0).
Performance
Die schwächsten Max-Q Varianten werden wahrscheinlich Probleme haben mit den starken Quadro RTX 4000 GPUs mitzuhalten. Trotzdem ist die Leistung der Quadro RTX 5000 Max-Q hervorragend und unter den schnellsten Notebook-GPUs.
Durch den immer noch hohen Stromverbrauch, eignet sich die Quadro RTX5000 Max-Q nicht für kleine und sehr dünne Notebooks.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 SLI (Laptop) ► remove from comparison
Die Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 SLI (Laptop) bezeichnet einen SLI-Verbund aus zwei High-End GeForce GTX 1070 Grafikkarten. Die GPUs nutzen denselben GP104-Chip mit 2.048 CUDA-Kernen wie das Notebook-Modell. Beide Karten rendern jeweils abwechselnd ein Bild (AFR), wodurch sich die Leistung gegenüber einer einzelnen GPU im Optimalfall fast verdoppelt. Der je 8 GB große Grafikspeicher verdoppelt sich durch den Einsatz beider Karten nicht, da jeweils die selben Daten gespeichert werden.

Performance
Die Performance der GTX 1070 SLI ist stark abhängig vom Treibersupport und den Spielen. Im Optimalfall wird die Performance einer einzelnen GTX 1070, wie schon bei den Vorgängern, fast verdoppelt, in anderen Fällen kann der Verbund auch deutlich schlechter oder gar nicht skalieren. Des Weiteren können mehr oder weniger ausgeprägte Mikroruckler die gefühlte Performance beeinträchtigen. Dennoch lassen sich die meisten Spiele des Jahres 2016 in maximalen Einstellungen und 4K-Auflösung flüssig darstellen.
Hinter dem nochmals rund 30 bis 35 Prozent schnelleren SLI-Verbund zweier GeForce-GTX-1080-Karten stellt die GTX 1070 SLI im Jahr 2016 die zweitschnellste Notebook-Grafiklösung auf dem Markt dar.
Leistungsaufnahme
Im SLI-Verbund verdoppelt sich der Stromverbrauch gegenüber einer einzelnen GTX 1070, sodass beide Karten zusammen vermutlich etwa 220 bis 240 Watt aufnehmen dürften. Aus diesem Grund ist die Grafiklösung nur in sehr großen und schweren Gaming-Notebooks zu finden.
