Die Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 ist nach dem Topmodell Titan X sowie der GTX 1080 die drittschnellste Pascal-Grafikkarte für Desktop-PCs und wurde im Mai 2016 vorgestellt. Im Vergleich mit der Notebook-Version taktet das Desktop-Modell etwas höher, bietet dafür jedoch nur 1.920 statt 2.048 aktive Shadereinheiten des zugrundeliegenden GP104-Chips. Der 8 GB große Arbeitsspeicher ist über ein 256-Bit-Interface angebunden und taktet mit 8 GHz (effektiv).

Features

Der GP104-Chip wird in einem 16nm-FinFET-Prozess bei TSMC gefertigt und bietet eine Reihe neuer Features, unter anderem Support für DisplayPort 1.4 (ready), HDMI 2.0b, HDR, Simultaneous Multi-Projection (SMP) sowie verbessertes H.265 Video De- und Encoding (PlayReady 3.0). Performance

Die Performance der GeForce GTX 1070 entspricht in etwa den ehemaligen Topmodellen GTX 980 TI und Titan X (Maxwell). Eine GTX 1080 rechnet allerdings nochmals rund 20 Prozent schneller. Die GTX 1070 ordnet sich damit im (unteren) High-End-Segment ein und kann Spiele des Jahres 2016 in hohen Einstellungen und WQHD- oder 4K-Auflösung flüssig darstellen.

Leistungsaufnahme

Die Leistungsaufnahme der GeForce GTX 1070 wird vom Hersteller mit 150 Watt beziffert und liegt damit in einer ähnlichen Größenordnung wie beim Vorgänger GTX 970.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPU

Die Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPU oder 3080 Ti Mobile (für Laptops, GN20-E8-A1) ist Anfang 2022 die schnellste Grafikkarte für Notebooks. Sie basiert auf den GA103S Ampere Chip und bietet 7424 Shader und 16 GB GDDR6 Grafikspeicher mit einem 256 Bit Grafikbus (mit 12 oder 14 Gbps). Sie unterstützt PCIe 4.0 und ist in verschiedenen Varianten (aktuell 80 - 165 Watt bekannt) verfügbar. Je nach TGP-Variante taktet die Grafikkarte im Boost von 1125 bis 1590 MHz. Die GPU unterstützt DirectX 12 Ultimate (12_2).

Es gibt nun keine Max-Q Variante mehr (die 80 - 95 Watt Versionen heissen auch nur "Laptop GPU"), aber jede TGP-Version kann die Max-Q Technologien nutzen (Dynamic Boost, Whispermode).

Die Leistung ist abhängig von der TGP-Variante und der verwendeten Kühlung. Durch die zusätzlichen Shader-Kerne sollte sie aber deutlich oberhalb der RTX 3080 Mobile liegen und damit auch anspruchsvolle Spiele in 4K flüssig darstellen können.

Der GA103 Chip bietet 7.680 FP32 ALUs wovon die Hälfte auch INT32 Befehle ausführen können (also 3.840 INT32 ALUs). Bei Turing konnten noch alle Shader FP32 oder INT32 ausführen. Weiters bietet der GA103 60 Raytracing Kerne und 240 Tensor Kerne (z.B. für DLSS). Der L2 Cache beträgt 4 MB und der PureVideo VP11 SIP unterstützt Feature Set K mit Hardware AV1 Dekodierung.

Der GA103S Chip wird bei Samsung im 8nm (8N) Verfahren welches mit dem 7nm Verfahren von TSMC nicht ganz mithalten kann (z.B. von AMD genutzt, aber auch für den professionellen GA100 Ampere Chip).

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 4GB Laptop GPU

Die Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU (oder Mobile, NVIDIA_DEV.2583, GN20-P0) ist die kleinste Variante der RTX 3000 Serie und basiert auf den GA107 Ampere Chip. Sie bietet 2048 CUDA-, 16 Raytracing und 64 Tensor-Kerne. Der Speicherbus ist mit 128 Bit spezifiziert für maximal 4 GB GDDR6 Grafikspeicher. Die schnellere RTX 3050 Ti bietet 25% mehr Kerne bei ähnlichen Taktraten und gleichem spezifizierten Stromverbrauch. Anfang 2023 gab es einen Refresh der RTX 3050 mit 6GB VRAM, reduziertem Speicherbus und wahrscheinlich höheren Kernzahl.

Wie üblich wird es verschiedene Varianten mit einem TGP von 35 - 50 (ehemals Max-Q) und 60 - 80 Watt geben. Diese takten von 713 - 1530 (Basistakt) bis 1058 - 1740 (Boost) und bieten dementsprechend eine unterschiedliche Performance.

Die durchschnittliche Leistung liegt etwas unterhalb der alten GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q. Diese kann jedoch deutlich variieren je nach TGP Variante. Dadurch eignet sich die GPU am Besten für Full HD mit hohen Details. Für Raytracing Effekte reicht die Leistung kaum aus, jedoch können die Tensor-Kerne via DLSS in manchen Spielen zu einer höheren Leistung helfen.

Der GA107 Chip bietet 3.072 FP32 ALUs wovon die Hälfte auch INT32 Befehle ausführen können (also 1.536 INT32 ALUs). Bei Turing konnten noch alle Shader FP32 oder INT32 ausführen. Die Raytracing und Tensor Kerne auf dem Chip wurden laut Nvidia ebenfalls verbessert. Weiters integriert der Ampere Chip einen Hardware Video-Encoder (NVENC 5. Generation für H.264 und H.265) und Decoder (7. Generation für zahlreiche Formate inklusive AV1).

Der GA107 Chip wird bei Samsung im 8nm (8N) Verfahren welches mit dem 7nm Verfahren von TSMC nicht ganz mithalten kann (z.B. von AMD genutzt, aber auch für den professionellen GA100 Ampere Chip).
