Der MediaTek Dimensity 800U ist ein ARM-SoC (System-on-a-Chip) der Mittelklasse, der sowohl in Smartphones als auch Tablets (hauptsächlich Android) eingesetzt werden kann. Er bringt ein 5G-Modem mit und unterstützt den aktuellsten Mobilfunkstandard im Dual-SIM-Modus bei beiden Karten.

Das SoC integriert zwei ARM Cortex-A76 Kerne mit bis zu 2,4 GHz für anspruchsvolle Aufgaben und sechs langsamere ARM Cortex-A55 Kerne mit bis zu 2 GHz Takt in einem Stromspar-Cluster.

Der Hersteller gibt die maximale Downloadrate für das 5G-Modem mit 2,3 GBit/s an, allerdings werden nur sub-6-GHz-Netze unterstützt. Wi-Fi 5 (a/b/g/n/ac) wird unterstützt. Der Speichercontroller unterstützt LPDDR4x-RAM mit bis zu 2133 MHz und maximal 12 GB.

Beim Massenspeicher kann maximal UFS-2.2-Memory zum Einsatz kommen.

Als integrierte Grafikkarte verwendet das SoC die ARM Mali-G57 MC3. 120-Hz-Displays mit einer maximalen Auflösung von 1.080p+ und HDR10+ werden unterstützt.

Der MediaTek Dimensity 800U wird im 7-nm-Prozess hergestellt.

Apple M1 Max

Der Apple M1 Max ist ein System on a Chip (SoC) von Apple, der in den High-End-Varianten des Apple MacBook Pro 14 und 16 aus 2021 verbaut wird. Der Chip integriert wie der M1 Pro 10 CPU Kerne von denen zwei Stromspar-Kerne sind (E-Cores) und 8 Performance-Kerne (P-Cores). Die Taktung der Performance-Kerne rangiert von 600 bis 3220 MHz, die Effizienz-Kerne können von 600 bis 2064 MHz takten. Einen kurzen Turbo Boost oder höhere Taktraten für einzelne Kerne gibt es nicht. Neben den 28 MB L2 Cache, kann die CPU und die GPU auf 48 MB System Level Cache zurückgreifen.

Der Chip wird mit 32 oder 64 GB LPDDR5-6400 Unified Memory ausgeliefert auf die CPU und GPU gleichzeitig zugreifen können und die mit einem schnellen 512 Bit Speicherbus (max. 400 GB/s) angebunden werden. Hier unterscheidet sich der M1 Max auch vom M1 Pro.

Die integrierte Grafikkarte bietet 32 GPU-Kerne (die kleine Version aktiviert nur 24 Kerne).

Weiters bietet der Chip eine 16-Kern-Neural-Engine für AI-Beschleunigung, die Secure Enclave, Unified Memory Architecture, ISP und Media De- und Encoder. Der M1 Max bietet im Vergleich zum M1 Pro zwei weitere ProRes Beschleuniger im Chip.

Der TDP des Chips wird nicht angegeben, die Package Power kann aber bis zu 86W betragen (CPU und GPU gemeinsam). Der Prozessor-Teil alleine kann sich ca 29 Watt genehmigen und damit 7,5 Watt mehr als beim M1 Pro mit weniger RAM.

Der Chip wird im modernen 5nm Prozess bei TSMC gefertigt und soll sehr energieffizient sein.
