Der Apple M3 Max (16 Core) ist ein System on a Chip (SoC) von Apple für Notebooks der gegen Ende 2023 vorgestellt wurde. Er integriert eine neue 16-Kern-CPU mit 12 Performance Kernen mit bis zu 4,06 GHz und 4 Effizienzkernen mit 2,8 GHz. Es gibt auch eine abgespeckte 14-Kern-Variante mit 30-Kern GPU.
Die Prozessorleistung ist durch die höheren Taktraten und Architekturverbesserungen auch in Benchmarks deutlich besser als der M2 Max und kann mit den schnellsten mobilen CPUs mithalten (wie einem Core i9-13900HX ).
Der M3 integriert weiters eine neue Grafikkarte mit Dynamic Caching, Mesh Shading und Ray-Tracing-Beschleunigung per Hardware. Im Spitzenmodell werden alle 40 Kerne des Chips genutzt und unterstützen bis zu 5 Displays gleichzeitig (internes und 4 externe).
GPU und CPU können gemeinsam auf den gemeinsamen Speicher auf dem Package zugreifen (Unified Memory). Dieser ist in 48, 64 und 128 GB-Varianten erhältlich und bietet 400 GB/s maximale Bandbreite (512 Bit Bus).
Die integrierte 16-Kern Neural Engine wurde ebenfalls überarbeitet und bietet nun 18 TOPS Spitzenleistung (versus 15,8 TOPS beim M2 aber 35 TOPS im neuen A17 Pro). Die Video-Engine unterstützt nun auch AV1 Dekodierung in Hardware. H.264, HEVC und ProRes (RAW) können weiterhin de- und enkodiert werden. Der Max Chip bietet wie der Vorgänger zwei Video-Engines und kann daher zwei Streams gleichzeitig en- bzw. dekodieren.
Das integrierte WLAN unterstützt leider nur weiterhin WiFi 6E (kein WiFi 7), im Unterschied zum kleinen M3 SoC wird aber Thunderbolt 4 auch unterstützt (max 40 Gbit/s).
Der Chip wird im aktuellen 3nm Prozess (N3B) bei TSMC hergestellt und beinhaltet 92 Milliarden Transistoren (+37% vs. Apple M2 Max). Unter Last verbraucht der der CPU-Teil bis zu 56 Watt, gesamt kann der Chip 78 Watt nutzen.
Intel Core i7-13700H ► remove from comparison
Der Intel Core i7-13700H ist eine High-End-CPU der Raptor-Lake-H Serie (RPL-H). Im Unterschied zu RPL-HX, ist die H-Serie sehr ähnlich zu den alten Alder-Lake-Prozessoren. Die CPU bietet alle 6 Performance Kerne (P-Kerne, Golden Cove oder Raptor Cove Architektur) und 8 Effizienzkerne (E-Kerne, Gracemont Architektur). Die P-Kerne unterstützten Hyperthreading (daher gemeinsam 20 Threads) und takten von 2,4 bis 5 GHz (Einzelkernturbo, 4,7 GHz für alle Kerne). Die E-Kerne takten von 1,8 - 3,7 GHz und sollen eine vergleichbare Performance wie alte Skylake Kerne bieten (z.B. i7-6920HQ ).
Performance
Durch die höheren Taktraten der Rocket-Lake-Serie, kann der i7-13700H sich auf das Niveau des alten Core i9-12900H heben und gehört damit zu einer sehr schnellen mobilen CPU, die sich für alle Anwendungsbereiche hervorragend geeignet.
Grafikeinheit
Wie auch der Vorgänger, integriert Intel in eine Intel Xe basierende Grafikeinheit. Beim 13700H sind alle 96 EUs aktiviert und takten mit bis zu 1,5 GHz.
Features
Wie auch Alder-Lake-H, hat Raptor-Lake-H WiFi 6E und Thunderbolt 4 (4x) teilintegriert. Der integrierte Speicherkontroller unterstützt nun schnelleren DDR5-5200 Speicher. Der integrierte Gaussian and Neural Accelerator (GNA) ist weiterhin in Version 3.0 verbaut. Die Media Engine Quick Sync 8 ist die selbe wie in Rocket Lake und unterstützt MPEG-2, AVC, VC-1 Decode, JPEG, VP8 Decode, VP9, HEVC und AV1 Decode. Der Chip unterstützt PCIe 5.0 x8 für eine dGPU und zwei PCIe 4.0 x4 für SSDs. Der PCH bietet noch PCIe Gen3 x12.
Leistungsaufnahme
Der Intel Core i7-13700H ist mit 45 Watt TDP angegeben (PL2 115 Watt). Gefertigt wird der 13700H im weiter verbesserten Intel 7 Prozess (10 nm SuperFin).
