Er integriert eine neue 16-Kern-CPU mit 12 Performance Kernen mit bis zu 4,06 GHz und 4 Effizienzkernen mit 2,8 GHz. Es gibt auch eine abgespeckte 14-Kern-Variante mit 30-Kern GPU.
Die Prozessorleistung ist durch die höheren Taktraten und Architekturverbesserungen auch in Benchmarks deutlich besser als der M2 Max und kann mit den schnellsten mobilen CPUs mithalten (wie einem Core i9-13900HX).
Der M3 integriert weiters eine neue Grafikkarte mit Dynamic Caching, Mesh Shading und Ray-Tracing-Beschleunigung per Hardware. Im Spitzenmodell werden alle 40 Kerne des Chips genutzt und unterstützen bis zu 5 Displays gleichzeitig (internes und 4 externe).
GPU und CPU können gemeinsam auf den gemeinsamen Speicher auf dem Package zugreifen (Unified Memory). Dieser ist in 48, 64 und 128 GB-Varianten erhältlich und bietet 400 GB/s maximale Bandbreite (512 Bit Bus).
Die integrierte 16-Kern Neural Engine wurde ebenfalls überarbeitet und bietet nun 18 TOPS Spitzenleistung (versus 15,8 TOPS beim M2 aber 35 TOPS im neuen A17 Pro). Die Video-Engine unterstützt nun auch AV1 Dekodierung in Hardware. H.264, HEVC und ProRes (RAW) können weiterhin de- und enkodiert werden. Der Max Chip bietet wie der Vorgänger zwei Video-Engines und kann daher zwei Streams gleichzeitig en- bzw. dekodieren.
Das integrierte WLAN unterstützt leider nur weiterhin WiFi 6E (kein WiFi 7), im Unterschied zum kleinen M3 SoC wird aber Thunderbolt 4 auch unterstützt (max 40 Gbit/s).
Der Chip wird im aktuellen 3nm Prozess (N3B) bei TSMC hergestellt und beinhaltet 92 Milliarden Transistoren (+37% vs. Apple M2 Max). Unter Last verbraucht der der CPU-Teil bis zu 56 Watt, gesamt kann der Chip 78 Watt nutzen.
Intel Core i7-1165G7
► remove from comparisonDer Intel Core i7-1165G7 ist ein sparsamer Quad-Core-SoC für Notebooks und Ultrabooks, der auf der Tiger-Lake-Architektur basiert und im September 2020 vorgestellt wurde. Tiger Lake wird im verbesserten 10nm+-Verfahren (SuperFin genannt) bei Intel gefertigt und nutzt die neuen Willow Cove CPU-Kerne mit einer neuen Mikroarchitektur. Der i7-1165G7 bietet vier Kerne mit 2,8 GHz Basistakt und 4,7 GHz Turbo-Takt (4,1 GHz für alle Kerne). Dadurch liegt die Leistung deutlich oberhalb des alten Ice-Lake basierten Core i7-1065G7. Zum Zeitpunkt der Vorstellung ist der i7-1165G7 das zweit-schnellste Tiger-Lake-Modell hinter dem Core i7-1186G7 (+100-200 MHz CPU Takt).
Eine weitere Neuerung ist die integrierte Intel Iris Xe G7 Grafikkarte (Gen 12) welche eine deutlich höhere Leistung wie die alte Iris Plus G7 in Ice Lake bieten soll. Im 1165G7 bietet die Iris Xe alle 96 EUs bei einem Takt von 400 - 1300 MHz (1185G7 bis zu 1350 MHz).
Wie bisher wird auch weiterhin WLAN (Wifi 6) und nun auch Thunderbolt 4 / USB 4 und 4 Lanes PCIe 4 im Chip (teil-)integriert für schnellere, günstige und platzsparende Implementierungen in Notebooks.
Der TDP kann bei den UP3 CPUs von 12 - 28 Watt gewählt werden und dadurch eignet sich die CPU auch für dünne und leichte Notebooks.
Apple M3 Pro 12-Core

Er integriert eine neue 12-Kern-CPU mit 6 Performance Kernen mit bis zu 4,06 GHz und 6 Effizienzkernen mit 2,8 GHz. Es gibt auch eine abgespeckte 11-Kern-Variante mit 14-Kern GPU.
Im Vergleich zum M2 Pro wurde der M3 Pro etwas abgespeckt und tauscht zwei Performance-Kerne gegen Effizienz-Kerne. Das liegt an der veränderten Kernkonfiguration, da nun pro Cluster 6 Kerne zum Einsatz kommen (beim M2 Pro und M3 weiterhin 4 Kerne pro Cluster). Weiters wurde der Speicherbus von 256 Bit auf 192 Bit verringert (150 GB/s vs 200 GB/s). Dank der neuen Architektur und höheren Taktraten, ist der neue M3 Pro jedoch trotzdem noch etwas schneller.
