Intel Core i7-4790K ► remove from comparison Der Intel Core i7- 4790K ist ein High-End Quad-Core Desktop-Prozessor auf Basis der Haswell-Architektur, der im zweiten Quartal 2014 vorgestellt wurde. Er ist das Topmodell zum Zeitpunkt der Einführung und wurde mit dem Codenamen "Devil's Canyon" geführt. Im Vergleich zum Core i7-4770K bietet der 4790K 500 MHz mehr Basis- und Turbo-Takt. Um dies zu ermöglichen und auch eine bessere Übertaktbarkeit (freier Multiplikator) zu gewährleisten, hat Intel zusätzliche Kondensatoren auf der Unterseite und eine verbesserte Wärmeleitpaste (Next Generation Thermal Interface Material - NGTIM) eingesetzt.
Dank Hyperthreading können die 4 Kerne gleichzeitig bis zu 8 Threads bearbeiten. Die in 22 Nanometer gefertigte CPU taktet mit 4 GHz und kann per Turbo Boost Frequenzen von bis zu 4,4 GHz erreichen.
Architektur
Haswell ist der Nachfolger der 2012 vorgestellten Ivy-Bridge-Architektur und soll vor allem mit höherer Performance und verbesserter Energieeffizienz punkten. So wurde sowohl die Sprungvorhersage optimiert als auch die Zahl der Ausführungseinheiten erhöht, wodurch die Pro-MHz-Leistung etwa 5 bis 10 Prozent höher ausfällt. Neue Befehlssatzerweiterungen wie AVX2 und FMA sollen die Performance in darauf ausgelegten Anwendungen zusätzlich verbessern.
Performance
Dank der 500 MHz höheren Taktfrequenz kann sich der 4790K im Vergleich zum 4770K um etwa 7% absetzen. Die schnellste Notebook-CPU des Jahres 2014, der Core i7-4940MX , wird um etwa 10 bis 20 Prozent distanziert.
Grafikeinheit
Für die Grafikausgabe zeigt sich die im Prozessor integrierte Intel HD Graphics 4600 verantwortlich, die mit 350 - 1250 MHz taktet. Das Performanceplus gegenüber der HD Graphics 4000 liegt bei rund 30 Prozent, was die HD 4600 näher an die Grafikeinheit der schnellsten Trinity-APUs von AMD heranbringt.
Leistungsaufnahme
Gegenüber dem Vorgänger ist der TDP von 84 Watt auf 88 Watt leicht angestiegen.
